I've posted before about this QAnon girl I know who lives in California. She's 45. We were having our monthly discussion on the vaccines and the state of the world, and she told me that she spends a lot of time crying.

Which is not surprising, but I hadn't really thought of it before. I hadn't considered what it must be like to:

    1. Actually believe that Trump actually won all 50 states, including California, but because of voter fraud the Communist Joe Biden is President.

    2. Actually believe that Satan-worshiping pedophiles are in charge of our country.

    3. Actually believe that the vaccine is designed to kill people.

    4. Actually believe that Covid is fake and hospitals are killing people.

    5. Actually believe that Donald Trump is some kind of successful businessman.

When you think about it, it's quite sad. She's trapped in her own head.

I cry a lot when I realize all too many people actually believe all that.

Booked a house for the NYE weekend. The fam had a blast last year so we're making it a tradition.

We did that for years.  Watched most the football games.  When my son had his sailboat, we sailed on New Year's day several years.  We also liked to drive down to Little Shell Beach at PINS.

Weather is usually mild down there during the holidays.  Covid messed that up last year.

Hope Hookit and the locals ride the storm out without too much damage.  I worry about the flooding mostly with everything so low lying. So fingeres crossed and prayers for Port A.

Hey Hookit - Looks like Nicholas might have been a nothingburger in Port A.  Was it?

Mustang Island Airport listed very little rain over the past three days.  Wind looked a little heavier than normal.  How was it IRL?

Did Old Town or Whispering Sands have flooding?

Thanks. I've put these on the watch list. I can rec back to you McDonald & Dodds, Mallorca Files and Vera. They're all light mystery/cop shows. Mallorca Files is a bit satiric on the genre. I didn't think I'd like Vera but it's well done and the lead actors are so good. McD and Dodds is new and there's only 5 eps so far.

There's a ton of good shows on britbox and I'm nowhere near an anglophile. The software is clunky though.

I like all you mention.  My wife didn't like McD & D.  She didn't like how the DI treated the DS.  I like just about anything with Jason Watkins.  He killed as Roger in Hold the Sunset.

Also love Brenda Blythen.  Interesting to see her early on, as a young attractive mother in Labors of Erica.  Not all that good a comedy and a horrid laugh track, but great to see the change as she aged.

Had a reservation  for tomorrow at 630 at Tortugas. They just called me. They are closing their entire restaurant for a week because “2/3rds of their staff has COVID.”

What? In a town where hardly anyone wears a mask or socially distances?  I wonder what the vaccination rate is for PA (vs all of Nueces Co).

Man, that'd be so cool to see some baby sea turtles hatch and make their way into the ocean next month though.

That is cool, and my four grandchildren really enjoyed it.  Kind of a pain to get up at dark thirty to drive from PA to PINS to watch it, but really a great experience.

They all have enjoyed the Aquarium several times, also.

  7. I've been trying out different combinations with the grilled peppers and onions.  I added them to the Avocado Bacon Burger, subbed pepper jack cheese, and subbed creamy pepper sauce for mustard.  Messy, but tasty.

I also tried the BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich, subbed creamy pepper sauce for the BBQ sauce, added grilled peppers and onions, and subbed out the cheese for pepper jack.  I enjoyed.

Lastly (so far) I ordered a regular Patty Melt and added the grilled peppers and onions. I liked better than a regular Patty Melt, but not as good as the other two.

I am going to look at other combinations.  As you may be able to tell, I was a Monterrey Melt fan.

I was late getting to New Tricks but I'm making up for it. Very good show and exactly what I love about Brit tv. Not sure why I kept passing it up.

@abuelo gringo Try AcornTV, they have some great Brit shows as well.

    Yep. Have it and BritBox.

So Mrs. F and Chad Jr. are on safari in Kenya while dad had too many work obligations to make that trip happen. I get up this morning and they tell me on the way from the airport to the safari the guide is pointing out random points of local interest and then said something that made Mrs. F say they had to stop.

Any guesses? Ok I’ll tell you:

They said there was a nice little Scouting museum there.

Check out all the worldwide patches:

Looks like our neighbors had already been:

Circle Ten Council is in the book though:

Unfortunately Chad Jr. couldn’t get any Kenyan patches as the lady who runs the gift shop had locked it up to go to a funeral. Still - super random and very cool!

Great info.  If anyone heads over to visit London, you can visit Gilwell after about an hour long train ride. They have a trading post there, too.

But the 18ish hostess at the restaurant was wearing a tight white shirt and nothing under it, so I got that going for me.  It was cool in the restaurant.

I understand no picture, but you forgot location.

Above are all fine, DGAF as to naming any one of them "best."   These enhance the world of sound (and sight too, in some cases):

Sade / Diana Krall / Annie Lennox / Blonde ABBA singer / last but not least, Edith Piaf

Second on the little sparrow being a fine singer.  She got a lot of pushback here after that crappy commercial with Non, je ne regrette rien.

  12. Scared this guy up while weed eating this morning.  He scampered under the steps of the deck.  Racer?  Real pretty snek.

I tried quite a few different brands and varieties of Ranch dressing before I finally started just making it from Hidden Valley dry mix. But I keep a bottle of HEB Three Cheese Ranch handy for those occasions I don't want to mess with it. It's the best bottled option I have found.

I like the fact that a lot of the HEB/HCF brand salad dressings aren't made with HFCS.
