Holy wow shit!

Randomly saw this movie with my family just before heading to UT. I didn't really get the movie. At the end, I saw my father cry. The only time in my entire life I've ever seen him cry, and he wasn't some sort of ex-Marine, machismo guy either. He just never shows emotions unless the Cowboys fuck up a game. Turns out, this was essentially his family growing up in the Texas panhandle. Now that I'm older and "get" life more, I completely understand the scene.

I watched the first 2 episodes that were released today. I really enjoyed them. I didn't watch the 1980 version so I have no basis of comparison to it. The "Anjin" actor I felt did well. He seems like he is trying to be Tom Hardy. Hiroyuki Sanada is great as always. Looking forward to the rest of the show.
Thank you. The entire first episode I kept thinking, this guy reminds me of someone, but I couldn't place it.

I don't even understand why they were mad. The foul happened and he got ejected as he should have. Should have been over at that point.
Bro. You ever done the walk of shame, carrying a tent home?

226-3232.
"Frost Bank time ... 7:55. Downtown temperature ... 64."
I'd call that every time it got cold, just to hear if it was below freezing. We had clocks and a thermometer at home, but I loved dialing 226-3232.
Same, exact thing here in Dallas. 844-4444. Still works today if you add the area code.

Just checked the score. About right.

Is Reyna injured cause otherwise, he can't possibly suck enough to not see the pitch. Forest's left mid is a complete black hole.

Best one. Some ag posted the following reply:
QuoteGive Kyle any random fact and he'll find a way to work it into his obsession with Texas A&M. It's remarkable.
Kyle responded.
QuoteThere are more letters in the word "obsession" than there are conference wins in Texas A&M's last two seasons of football.

Damn. I'm still trying to get over the last one that I watched yesterday.
Quick, albeit, stupid question. I understand that these bombers didn't have fighter escorts due to the length of the flight. (In the last episode, they turned around at the French side of the English Channel.) If that was the case, then am I correct in assuming that ze Germans just flew fighter planes from bases in western France to London? I.E. a much shorter round trip route than New Anglia to locations in Germany.

You might as well go full Travolta on this one. Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Urban Cowboy, Pulp Fiction.
Although nobody should ever be ashamed to love all those movies
And I'll be the one to admit that I'd put Pulp Fiction 4th in that list.
Urban Cowboy, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Pulp Fiction. And, holy shit - the combined soundtrack in these 4...

I have no idea what my Twitter password is, so I'm going to have to type some of the best. Essentially, he's asked folks to name a random school. He then makes some sort of comparison to aggy. Here are a few.
Texas A&M has more yell leaders than MNCs, Big 12 Championships, and SEC Championships combined. They have 5 yell leaders.
Abilene Christian has 3 times the number of NCAA championships as aggy.
Since 2000, Notre Dame has played in more conference championship games than aggy AND Notre Dame isn't even in a conference.
Hawaii hasn't been to the CWS Semis in over 40 years, but still has the same amount, all-time, as aggy.
Coastal Carolina has only been to one CWS in school history, but has more CWS wins (6) than aggy (4).
There are a bunch more. Props to Kyle.

Slightly related; slightly off-topic question. Does UT have any Tom Landry related honors like a statue or anything on campus? As an alum and lifelong (don't judge me) Cowboy fan, I actually didn't even know Landry attended UT until I read his autobiography. Sports aside, he accomplished quite a lot in WWII as a B-17 pilot.

Just caught up. A little dusty in here. Not to go CR or anything, but the folks we consider "heroes" today v. these guys. Eeesh.

Something else that I didn't catch while watching. And, I don't think it's made the 40+ list of stupidity or plot holes over the last 3 pages. We knew Annie was killed by the group of scientists; however, the Eskimo Mafia did not know this. Why did they go after the entire crew?

Wait. Why was there a spiral on the cave ceiling? What was the shit moving around under the table? Why'd the electricity go off? How did Clark get untied from his torture chair? Why the hell would two cops go spelunking w/o any plans if they got lost? Why would two cops split up to chase a crazy dude through a research center? Why'd Danvers leave an orange peel in the shape of the spiral? I'm not going to go rewatch, but I thought Annie died in a cave. IIRC, she was in a lab room when murdered.
Your partner disappeared. You're second in command disappeared. 7, no 8 scientists just died "randomly". A witness disappeared. But, hey! Good luck with the local political scene.

Guess I'll give it a shot, though for some reason, I prefer the group episodes like XL.
