  1. If a guy as athletic and fast as Owens is your "developmental player", you're probably doing something right in evaluations, lol.
  2. Like many, I'd never heard of Tillman, until - what? - yesterday or Friday? But what's not to like? Good size at 6'1", apparently superior speed, and a very nice HUDL. Tillman can cover and INT, he can block punts, he can come off the edge and sack, can he tackle (lol)? Looks like a true take, not a reach, so great. LB is coming along.
  3. Of course there's alimony in Texas. There has been post-divorce alimony in Texas for more or less 20 years now. It's technically called "spousal support", but same difference. I take it Hamm's wife didn't get stuck with post-divorce alimony?
  4. Am I reading this right? SHE pays HIM post-divorce alimony?
  5. Yup. Texas already has one of the best - maybe the best - in Jake Smith, if he sticks. No need to stress over WR. Basically, ever. Now, DEs - that's another story, lol.
  6. At this point, all I want to do first is beat Maryland. And hope to god Maryland isn't this year's version of Notre Dame last time.
  7. Jake Smith is the kind of player, health permitting, that you can win a NC with. This guy is a freaking football missing link - the missing link to change a mediocre offense to a devastating offense. I'm a little stressed that our man has broken his tibia, and his arm, in the past, so let's hope he keeps to health. Jake Smith is a guy genuinely to become excited about. And I am, lol.
  8. Not my question, but I'll horn in anyhow - I like Bro (Kliff Kingsbury). Man's a horrible HC, but he does seem to know QBs. Turning this back to recruiting, I'll be glad when Jake Smith comes on board (if he does) so I can obsess over some other HS kid, lol.
  9. Good grief, Johnson doesn't just block, he blocks guys into the ground, lol. And he isn't hard to spot either, big as he his. Boys, we got us a keeper here in big Mr. Johnson. Don't take my word for it, check out Johnson's HUDL.
  10. Is the game still going on? Is it still 3-1?
  11. When Herman gets Texaz' OOS recruiting to click - and it appears that's happening - Texas will become a perennial jaggernaut. Texas kids will have to come on quick or get recruited over. Down years at a position in Texas will become irrelevant. Herman seems to be laying the foundation. We "just" have to start winning again.
  12. Yeah, I don't think the silent who spposedly will announce on Saturday is Smith. I wish it was! Wiley?
  13. Smith is the most critical recruit of this season, IMO. Things apparently still look good. Good. Now let's close him out, and move on to other guys.
  14. Anybody know if Jake Smith made it into USC this weekend? I have a check for $9.95 waiting.
  15. What about the boys who play for the Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech? There's gotta be a few good engineers at Georgia Tech.
  16. You're right, M. False alarm on my part re this weekend. It's the 18th. Better to be wrong early than late, lol?
  17. Jake Smith is supposed to be checking out USC this weekend on his official. The Trojans are also going to redesignate The Angels as a famous college town. Any of you gumshoe sleuths with contacts with the USC $9.95-ers know whether Smith made it to the land of King Prius this weekend?
  18. Jake Smith's comments, as current as I could find: "When I was [at Texas] for the spring game, everything about the city, program and football tradition stood out to me. I really loved it there." "I’m trying to have fun with my teammates since it’s the last time we’ll be able to play together at this level, so that plays a small role in the timing for me," Smith said. "I know my commitment will definitely be some time in June." Also this from the AZ article: "Smith ... is the nation's No. 104 overall prospect and No. 18 receiver in the 2019 class, per the 247Sports Composite." I find it difficult to accept that there's 103 guys in America more startling than Jake Smith, lol. Not buying it.
  19. I agree with you. Completely. Smith told Liebrock (sp?) Liebrock was "going to love his Texas visit", just before Liebrock visited, then verballed Longhorn. So we're close on Smith, who officially visits USC this month, then officials to Texas the last weekend of May, I think it is. Smith claims he will announce shortly thereafter. Apparently, we won't wait long. By all appearances, Smith looks suspiciously like a game changer to these eyes, personally reminding me of a bigger Tony Dorsett (after that absurd 99 yard TD run - not many guys can boast of a 99 TD run at any level, lol). I better hang up now before I become the butt of mama jokes, lol. But if Smith goes Texas, I will happily take some surly hits for dear old mom. Smith is just outrageous.
  20. Ain't it the truth, lol? Except ... Except the first play on the HUDL where Jake Smith runs off left guard for a 99 yard TD. Just sick.
  21. All the positive comments about Jake Smith's HUDL broke me down. I had to watch the HUDL. Good grief. Smith is a take, lol. Yea, I'm pretty sure Smith is a take. One play that spun my head was the one where there was a backward pass, that hit the ground - live ball - and Smith had the presence of mind to pick up the ball and run, oh ... like 85 years for a TD. Jake Smith is an outrageously talented HS football player. Insane. Smith was running away from those D boys - even when the D had the angle, didn't matter, TD, lol. Sick. For those who haven't seen it, -> Jake Smith HUDL
  22. Since I have no dog in this hunt, I'll go with our baby blue overlords - Go KU?
  23. That's a promising emoji from Bryce Young.
