  1. the bestest evar is the long-gone Lido Ragazzo that was at the southwest corner of forest and greenville.  crispy crust that could carry pounds of toppings and nuke up perfect.  massive number of vegetable combinations.

  2. the admiral's all-brisket-bias rankings in alpha order

6 stars: aaron, cattleack, snow, mueller, blacks, pecan

    5 stars: hutchins, gatlins, fargo

i've had cattleack 3 times and it does keep getting better.  only issue is their prices are now approaching pecan levels of premium.  hutchins for the $ is a damn good deal.  met up with the idoit a few months ago on a tuesday at 130 and had no line.  weekends are tough but it is accessible if you are north of LBJ at the right time of day.

the market is insatiable given the lunch crowds at hard8 and ten50.

i was extremely unimpressed with lockhart in downtown plano.  way overpriced for the quality, very poor pitmaster skillz.

in the sausage category all of the above have their own special recipes and it's difficult to rate them, but i would add Virgie's on Gessner in NW houston.  His sausage is fucking fantastic.

I think you should get your own radar up on your roof and start a blog and YouTube account about it.

Baron is a for-profit corporation.  I'd need a million dollars startup for the technology acquisition and a paid highly-reliable staff of 20 to monitor all of the local police dispatch channels during an outbreak event where there have been up to 8 simultaneous supercell complexes supporting high-altitude meso-rotation within 100 miles of DFW (the airport).  Then there is the topic of ongoing monetization of a service that has 2 to 3 hours of economic utility 4 or 5 times a year.

Weather folk prefer panicking the entire metroplex over providing accurate info to those in actual danger as it drives activity on their websites and apps which generates revenue for them.

Much like the weather channel always picking the worst case model and showing the earliest possible timeline for arrival. That’s when they bother to show the weather at all.

Youll find that they often miss the arrival of said fronts/storm systems by 12-36 hours, and its never on the early side.

Thank you Batronic.  You officially speak Celine.

  5. I'm giving politics a try after a 10-year embargo at our prior venue.  So if certain things have been covered previously my apologies.

We're well in to the 2nd page here and no one has used the words shia or sunni so I'm going to recommend 3 hours of FRONTLINE that are imho necessary to discuss why Israel is Good for Business.

“When elephants fight, it’s the grass that suffers,” Karim Sadjadpour of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace tells FRONTLINE. “And in today’s Middle East, the two elephants are Iran and Saudi Arabia. There’s been over a million casualties in the Middle East over the last decade. But they’ve been Syrian. They’ve been Yemeni. They’ve been Iraqi. Iranian and Saudi citizens aren’t the ones that are suffering.”

  6. re: the last game at pyle, MaxHorn has the bestest story from that day and i'll defer to him....

re: pig yes the hate is still there but they've had their comeuppance in the secsec and i would take pig and lsu as a package in a heartbeat.  pig/aggy at the deathstar is not even a question anymore.  the day pig finally win that game, aggy season is fucked.  that game provides the oxygen supply for the annual aggy roller coaster.

pig is now accessible; US69 from the red river up through methland was still 2 lanes in sections well in to the 80s.  Drake Field was often fogged in and forced commercial diversions to Ft. Smith, followed by a twisting/turning 2-hour bus crawl up US-71.  Dallas to 'nam used to be 8 hours, it can now be done comfortably in 5.  Since pig's departure, walmart by itself turned fayettenam in to a booming microtropolis, with 4-lane modern freeway access (the Cherokee Turnpike (US-412) and I-540 (now I-49)) and XNA (opened '98) with daily nonstops to DFW, IAH, ORD, LAX, CLT, LGA, DCA, DEN, ATL, MSP,  EWR and SFO.

bottom line is fayettenam is no longer a backwater and anyone who hasn't been there in 30 years won't recognize the place.  there is fuckton of money in pigland thanks to the waltons.

It was not destroyed by aggy.  It was destroyed by changes in the market.  Oklahoma successfully sued the NCAA to get access to TV revenue.  Once this happened, conference appeal to TV became ALL about the TV markets.  The SWC and the Big 8 were in deep trouble because their market footprint was decidedly smaller than that of their rival conferences.  Dodds and Joe Castiglione pow-wowed and agreed to a 10-team league by adding UT and A&M to the Big 8.  A hasty meeting was called shortly thereafter in Austin with Pete Delaney and Ann Richards.  These two, threatened to withhold state funding to the two largest school systems if Tech and Baylor were not allowed to tag along.  The Big 8 said, "Sure, whatevs."  The big dogs were already working on a revenue distribution model that would neuter programs like Tech and Baylor anyway so two more scroats to cut was no big deal.

So, what killed the SWC was the fact that the SWC was a relic of a different era.  When the revenue model changed it was no longer viable and it died as a result.  UT didn't kill it, aggy didn't kill it.  It just went extinct.

UTIMCO was never on the block.  That's a bayler fantasy.  What Ann did was get bayler in to SMU's spot.  Tceh was always part of the package.  The Dodds breakaway move was the first attempt to go west.
