Hence the reason there's still a big 'Beta' tag on it. Now granted, it should be working by now, because they've been working on it forever. But still, they're telling you it's not a finished product right on the home screen.

I got it. They ain't hiding it.

  2. My big knock on DTV Now is the DVR sucks.  And it shouldn't.  This is cloud-based.  Should be even easier.

    And only 20 hours?  What?

And I set it up to record "Rewind with Herman" and it didn't record.  Then saw it later at night, set it up again and no dice again. Come on guys...

DTV NOW DVR response - Now at a PC..  It sucks.  I haven't tried the others, as I am on a grandfathered plan.  But it does suck, compared to traditional.  I have come across the neverending time frame when watching something while recording.  Hopefully they will fix it.  Mine still says Beta DVR.  It still takes quite a bit to bring up the guide or whatever.  It seems like they would put some stuff locally, to make it faster in the cloud.  It is still sort of new, but it seems like it has been long enough for them to work that out....

I also hate, and It think this is the same on all services, no channel  numbers, so no chance for remotes. and no last button.  It makes it hard to switch between 2 games.

There is a reason this is a lot cheaper than cable.  But it's getting better.

I have a Roku 4k Ultra and I prefer the remote 100x more than my Uverse remote.  It's simple.  We don't need channel #s.  Have them in alphabetical order and you can create your own list of favorites.  Plus this has a tv power button + volume keys.  I only need 1 remote!  This is bad-ass compared to the Fire stick (which I have in my gameroom) and there is no volume key.  You still need your tv remote.

And when I turn on the tv, it goes straight to the Roku home screen.  My kids don't watch Directv Now; they watch Amazon Prime or the Cartoon  Network app (which we sign into using DTV Now user/pass).  It's more intuitive.  We don't need to change inputs unless I want to watch my BluRay which is rare.

    RE: Kim

But I doubt she’s dead. No way Saul Goodman is happy go lucky in Breaking Bad after losing his older brother to suicide and his girlfriend / best friend.

Jimmy reminds me of Worm from Rounders.

There is a great scene in Rounders when Worm is hiding at their old school and Mike is trying to stay straight.

    Quote

WORM: You know what, stop worrying about me so much, okay, I'm turning things around. I'm not gonna let anyone drop a garbage can on my head.
MIKE: No, no, you're gonna get out of the way and it's gonna land on me.

The garbage can is going to land on Kim's head. Jimmy turns into Saul then.

  5. Looks like Kim is bored and needs the crazy...  Sadly, this won't end well for her because Jimmy made it to Breaking Bad and someone is taking a fall somewhere sometime...

Are we being led to beleive that the safe full of money at Nacho's house money he's skimming from the Salamaca's? And the new guy is there to find out if he has been?

Friday Night in Dallas is, or at least was, part of the tradition.  The 11:30 kick kills the Friday night festivities.  Period.  End of story.

My guess is the young grads and college students are still going hard Friday night and sucking it up on Saturday morning.

And the beauty is they are the ones who can rebound.

And I won't be 100% on Saturday morning either... I can suck it up as well.

The Prime Kickoff Slot for College Football (regular season) is 230 or 300.  It always has been.  Or at least it was.  End. Of. Line.

11am has been a national slot for ABC for years. 2:30pm was the regional slot that they would put 2-3 games on. Remember the maps we would use to see showing what part of the country had the eastern, central, and western games?  Or they would do the ABC/ESPN mirror for the 2:30pm game (in your area the game would be on ABC and the other game on ESPN). The 6pm ABC game was a new edition around 2005.

Actually the Dallas politicians are the ones putting the band aids on this thing after everything went to JerryWorld. They've put a decent amount of money into that stadium for essentially one big game, 1 lower tier game, 1 no one gives a shit about game, and an afterthought late December bowl game.

This. Folks, the Cotton Bowl is 100x better than it used to be. And when they added the upper deck in the endzones the stadium was vastly improved. Restrooms are much improved as well.

But @TornACL @TXSooner518 I think we need to have a sitdown with our good buddy who runs the stand that we set up shop up cuz I don't think he has the cheap beer anymore...

I will never attend a Texas / OU game at jerry world. Going to home and home on campus >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> playing at Jerryworld. What makes anyone think the magic that is the state fair/ cotton bowl could even be 1% recreated in arlington

Hear hear. The only time I've been to Jerryworld was for the Texas / UCLA game which was technically a UCLA home game. I'm glad I went but it didn't feel like a college game.

I'd go to the "Cotton Bowl Classic" there or the Big12 title game but that's it.

Yeah the 11 a.m. kickoffs certainly do suck for tailgating, but the reality is that time has become one of the prime slots for college football because the big games at 11 CT/Noon ET pull big numbers.  That's why it's on regular FOX.

I'm not a fan of the 11am game unless it's Texas/OU. And even then, we have had it at noon a few times and I prefer that more but I actually like 11am more than 2:30pm for this one.

The UT/OU game was last played in Norman in 1922, and last in Austin in 1923. For the centennials of those two years, they need to move the game to the campuses, to resume in Dallas in 2024. The centennial of the game in the Cotton Bowl during the state fair is 2032. Make that a night game in Dallas.

UT/OU is the most intense rivalry in all of college sports. So much, that it has been bottled up with an 11am kickoff for decades. Teh early start was for security reasons which we can all understand.

2023 is going to be a huge year for college football and for UT. The GOR expires. The frenzy over realignment is going to be rampant. Showcase the two biggest players in the upcomeing realignment in a once-in-a-lifetime environment that even the grandkids of the current fans will never experience.

Take the cork out of the bottle and let UT/OU be showcased in three epic settings.

Michigan/Ohio St is at 11am CST every year. Most Big10 schools didn't even have lights because night games are a recent deal.

Texas/OU is the Cotton Bowl and that's what makes it great.  11am, 2:30pm, it doesn't matter.

Just as I was saying... Southwest is rolling out a newer higher end credit card.  $150 instead of $99 but you get more benefits just like I was pitching.

    https://www.marketwatch.com/story/chase-and-southwest-have-a-new-travel-credit-card-but-is-it-a-good-deal-2018-07-19

Gives you some upgrading boarding, discount on drinks and wifi,...

We upgraded to the Visa Signature Southwest card. It is looking promising that we will be getting the Companion Pass for next year as well and the bump in points for this bonus helped. I also subscribed to Motley Fool for $99 for the year for stock tips and I got a bonus of 5400 points. I have been listening to their podcast for a couple of years and they convinced me on their "War on Cash" bundle and ended up buying Visa, Square, Paypal back in March and those have been on a tear...  BUT to be honest the 5400 point bonus was the reason I sucked up and pulled the trigger. Behind their paywall, they had some other stock tips that I bought with.

I also got the Rapid Rewards Shopping button for Chrome to get more points as I shop online.

  13. We went on opening weekend just due east of Uvalde. We limited out off a field and a watering hole.

It was my 2nd time dove hunting there but last year it was slow which from my friends apparently that was not normal. But what surprised me is they were all mourning dove. Not white winged.

Great time, lots of beer, we smoked a pork butt... just that game sucked.

This lame shit just makes me sad. Really sad.

Back in 95-97 we would drink like fucking champs before a game. Crazy drink. And I’m not sure how they pulled it off, but man we used to have handle bars of Jim Beam in the student section. Along with those plastic bottles of that cheap ass vodka. Big fucking bottles. Not travelers. It was a way more intense drunk for a bunch of 18-22 yr olds than buying any overpriced beer would bring. You always brought in flasks as well, but damn there was no shortage of legit big bottle booze around.

And throwing shit on the field?? Lol. Cups and shit always went flying in the student section. Go back and look at the Sugar Bowl in 96 against V Tech. The end zone got peppered with bottles and cups. This is nothing new.

I was an undergrad at the same time. I remember one of my friends brought a big plastic flask of vodka to the 1996 Texas vs Missouri opener.  Huge thunderstorm at halftime, we got drenched.  During the break, one of my buddies pulled out the flask and a naive friend of ours asked if he could take a drink... He then started drinking the vodka like it was water.... because he thought it was water (and was thirsty).  He spit it out like a champ.

I haven't snuck in a flask in forever though.  A buddy of mine used to sneak in a bunch of airplane Crown Royals back in the day which was not something I complained about. No need anymore with the beer sales.

You really know how to take care of your buddies that help you move.

I've got a beer with your name on it next time I move... ;)

And of course, there was more to it than 7-11 beers. But those were some cold ones.

  16. The only Bucees I stop at is the one in New Braunfels and I stop there every time I go to NB or San Antonio.  Restrooms as noted are clean, cokes are cheap and my kids love their Icees.

But I could not imagine that being on my regular rotation of gas stations. My personal preference is the HEB in Bee Cave in between my house and office....  In & out quickly...

  17. The 7-11 off Bee Cave & 360 has quite possibly the coldest beer fridge I've ever encountered. A couple of years ago, I rented a Uhaul truck to move stuff that I wasn't paying movers to move and I stopped at that gas station when we were done.  I bought 3 beers for me + 2 buddies.  Hit the stop like none other.

3 years later, it's still cold ass beer.

But that store is a dump and I wouldn't ever buy their coffee or food...
