  1. I mean I suppose it's one of the cooler things I might expect to see hanging on the wall of an accountant's office

To be fair, about 75% of people bitching about guitarists who are professionals at something else are fat white guys who have played Mustang Sally while wearing a Hawaiian/bowling shirt.

People who walk on the left side of any walkway path be it the sidewalk, at a store, stadium, etc. Get the fuck to the right dipshit.

head down straight line on the right.  if we walk into each other that's your choice.

  3. Bored to Death is on my list to go back and watch again, but (absent any info on how it's doing with ratings) I don't see Barry as having the same problem or really being that similar.  The jokes are mostly jokes and you can explain the premise of the show in a single sentence that conveys what it is.

I ordered a subscription to Road and Track in January. I still haven't received an issue, so I went through their purposefully useless website to ask what the fuck, and I learned that my first issue is scheduled to be the June issue. I contacted customer service, and after a few rounds of meaningless canned answers, a sentient human explained that the covers are printed that far in advance or some shit.

I realize that it probably comes out in May or even April, but I have half a mind to cancel that shit on principle.

And these fuckers probably wonder why their industry is dying.

i still don't understand.... the first magazine they send you has to be the next one that they print?  You'd think they'd want to hang on for life for as long as possible.

  5. Just got back from another lump scare at the vet with Kevin.  All clear

    good boy.

I mean, except for that time with the fedex guy.  On that note, the same FedEx guy that Kevin bit came back by to drop off another package, so I got a chance to talk with him.  Which was nice, to be able to apologize, ask how he's doing, etc.  He's fine, wanted to know if Kevin was ok, shrugged off apologies, etc.  Still makes me sick that that happened but glad to kinda get at least a personal resolution there (Kevin was home quarantined for a week, haven't heard anything else from Fedex).

  6. i wonder if there's a bathroom wall somewhere where homeless people are scribbling reviews of the various used online mattresses that everyone is dumping to try the next one

i bought a novaform costco mattress.  King, I think $700.  It was pretty stiff at first but got a bit softer (twss).  I'm happy with it.  Looks like Costco is selling a different brand of foam mattress now.  Not sure how different they actually are.  Best part about the Costco mattress purchase was the ~40 minutes that elapsed between "ok I need to get a mattress" and the mattress being in my home.

Maybe I saw a different show(?).   The show I saw was Ben Folds with "Y Music" (I think that's what they were called), which was like three or four string players and three or four horns.  Can't remember who opened.

I definitely saw him in.... 2005 or 2006, because I was living at the apartment I was at whenever we won the Rose Bowl against USC.  And I had broken up with Kristin, and put that Ben Folds "Bitches Ain't Shit" on my MySpace page, and we saw him when he was touring with that Australian bassist, and The Fray opened up before they were ever big, and they sucked ass and were trying to get the crowd to sing choruses or something.

This Ben Folds tune has an acoustic guitar army that comes in near the end.

I think it's brilliant.  The arrangement, the idea of doing one of the most misogynistic songs of all time as a thoughtful songwriter ballad...

I ain't been out a second, and already I gots to do some motherfucking chin checkin'...

I saw them at Bass that year.  Opening band sucked shit through a straw.  All the girls we were with (college... sophomores) wouldn't shut up about how great the opening band was.  The Fray.

  9. Yeah that's awesome, Glen.

tbone - the really great wedding/party bands seem to be in the 7-10k range.  Of course I'm talking about pro bands with multiple singers, horns, keys, etc.

  10. Odd bit of trivia that I picked up on on my second run through, Lt. Mello (Bunny Colvin's right hand man in S3 and later Western District commander) is portrayed by the real Jay Landsman.

    So this guy:

    Is played by this guy:

Or vice versa. I think that’s what you mean and now I’m having a funny.. wait which way to say that is correct, but the guy pictured in the police uniform (in his role as Bunny’s right hand guy) is in real life the homicide squad leader who is portrayed by the fat guy. Also his balmer accent is great.

Also, the dude who looks like Paul Mooney and is killed in the same scene where Omar jumps out the window is the real life inspiration for Marlo’s character.

Also Snoop is basically not acting. And Slim Charles is a musician in a DC based go go band.
  11. That guy has played a "heavy" in quite a few things in the last 5-10 years.  I never noticed him until Billions, though, but have seen him in a number of things since noticing him.

And the lawn mowing flower making guy from True Detective. Just popped up in Waco too.
