Got a leak here. Ended up with a layer of water in my office. Luckily I was in there. Bout 95% sure it's related to the one outdoor spigot I couldn't keep unfrozen. The one I've been worried about the whole time. FML. Shop vacced up maybe 3 gallons and soaked 4 towels finishing it up. So not a ton of volume fortunately.

Cut a hole in the drywall where I thought it would be, missed but can feel wet insulation. It's not too bad. Only thing I can see or feel is this. Doesn't connect to anything horizontally but it sure doesn't look right. Anyone recognize this, or just want to make copper dick jokes?

If I can get out of this with a minor exterior wall leak that's fixable and I'll consider us lucky as hell. I can half ass the drywall repair because it's in my office closet that stays locked because it has ammo and bourbon.

That looks like a copper cap.  It could be an abandoned line going to nowhere.  It might also be the end of an air chamber, connected to some fixture.  Either way, if that's all that's broken, you'll just need to replace that cap.  Are there any plumbing fixtures close to this pipe?

The one that isn’t working - there aren’t hot and cold handles - only one handle. So I can’t do that. The two showers that are working are fine with hot and cold water.

The inability of the master tub to drain has thrown me for a loop.

The trap is likely frozen on your master tub drain.  Any single handle tub/shower valve will have an anti-scalding feature that shuts down the flow if water is coming from only one side.

  3. This is a catastrophe far worse than most people realize.  Broken water pipes, tankless water heaters freezing on the outside of houses that have no power, shortages of all the materials needed to fix the broken pipes, never enough plumbers.  It's going to be fucking biblical.  Some people are going to be without water for a while until all this shit can be fixed.  This will certainly be the worst natural disaster in the history of Austin and will be one of the worst ever in Texas.  The power losses make it so much worse than it would've been otherwise.  I'd like to think Abbott's head will roll but I'm sure most people will blame the hippies for wind and solar or the Austin City Council or some shit.

GQP is about rubbing January 6th in your Trump voting face forever.  You voted for 4 or more years of that shit over boring politics.  You either have unbelievably shitty judgement or you're cool with the end of democracy as we've known it.

Noticed you left out the 8 women who accused Biden of sexual assault or misconduct. You guys put way too much faith in politicans. Has a Democrat or the Democratic Party ever been critcized in this echo chamber? Link to that thread? And yes I mostly agree with you on your criticisms of the GOP. Them being terrible doesn't mean the DNC is beyond reproach though.

Fozzz, I always liked your profile pics if nothing else.  Bring that back and drop the charade already.

  6. It probably helps Beto that Texas won't have a US Senate race in 2022 since it's highly unlikely Texas Dems will field a candidate that helps the ticket.

Republicans are going to portray him as anti-gun no matter what so he might as well own what he said and clarify that he's only talking about AKs and AR-15s.

Edited to add that if you go hunting for a photo op, you'd better be someone that can sell it.  John Kerry wasn't helped by his goose hunt.  Same for John Mackovic with the turkeys.

  7. If you believe in End Times theology,

If you're obsessed with implements of killing,

If you find yourself talking about how it will all be revealed on such and such a day,

If you're slapping skull stickers all over everything,

You might be in a fucking Death Cult.

And not a cool one like Thulsa Doom's outfit where at least you get laid.

It does feel like a tangible power shift has taken place. Like the wave crashing back into the calm ocean. It's still water but it's dissipated. Until the next wave. For now, all is calm and a lot of folks I think feel relief and appeased, if not secure and comfortable yet.

Nice metaphor.  If I recall, you voted for the tsunami of sewage over the calm ocean.  If the election were today, how would you vote?  Sincere apologies if I'm mistaken.

I was thinking about what the Gritty of the GA Senate could have been and it occurred to me about a day after the election that this is what we should have jumped on.

That would have been good.  Now that I look at the gif I posted, it appears he's in a 49ers uniform and scoring against Atlanta.
