in austin, but thanks.  i usually go to austin fine lumber but i'd never seen it there, i suppose it's special order.  and is that pricing right?  $295 for a 3x5 panel?

That's an 1.5" thick Birch countertop.  Not specifically plywood.   Looking closer, HD has some birch plywood 2' x 4' panels but it isn't specifically baltic birch.  I would suggest going and looking there or Lowes and seeing if those panels will meet your needs.  If not, contact AFL and ask them about true baltic birch panels.

ETA:  It looks like AFL has BB in 4x8 and 5x5 panels

I’m not sure most midsize trucks do. My 2013 Tacoma with tow package did not.

Neither did my daughter's 2012 Tacoma but takes like 20 minutes to wire in a Tekonsha so I wasn't worried to much about that.

Yes, to be exact, it’s a shooting campout that covers some hunting techniques - not actual hunting.

Yes I fully understand at the scout level (I helped charter a troop and served as SM for 5 years) hunting is prohibited,   my point  was that Venturing crews can actually go hunting as a crew activity.  Just as there are several crews in SHAC that are shooting crews (like weekly meetings at the range) there is at least one crew out in the Rocky Mountains that hunts big game.

Correct.  Our son's troop does an annual hunting campout with extended shooting practice led by NRA-certified instructors (who, thankfully, leave all politics out of it).  The shooting merit badge has safety and shooting-accuracy requirements.

While Scouts are not allowed to hunt as a troop lead program, there is nothing in the BSA Sweet Sixteen or Guide to Safe Scouting that prohibits a Venturing Crew (coed ages 14-21) from conducting a hunting activities.

  5. Probably not the best thread but there is still a few days to register to be TPWD State Park Ambassador. https://tpwd.texas.gov/spdest/programs/state_parks_ambassador/

The program mission is "To connect conservation-minded young adults (ages 18-30) with recreation and volunteer opportunities to foster a new generation of State Park stewards."

My daughter (no pics) is finishing up her tenure as ambassador at Garner State Park and has really enjoyed the experience. She has spent a lot of time out in the park the last 6 months, helping the staff, and conducting a few programs of her own. Her last project is to work with the conservation staff mapping out areas for controlled burns in the park.

If you have a kid in college or just out, that enjoys the outdoors, have them look at the link above and research the program and submit an application.

Unrelated update in regards to 4k gaming:

Lowest settings on BFV last night at effective 4k I was hovering around 50-60 fps, which, for me on a 144hz monitor is virtually unplayable, but would be okay for something like an RPG/Strategy game (or anything single-player, really).

The issue is that this generates a FUCKTON of heat inside the case. I mean you are really pushing the GPU and CPU hard doing that. I would probably have to drop another $100-$200 on cooling on my current rig (which was $1,500 to begin with) to keep something from crashing after any longer than an hour or so. And again, this is on lowest settings.

Like I figured, to run anything at 60 fps+ on medium-high settings on a 4k monitor you are looking at $2,500 easy.

Really need dual 1080s or better.  That's what my son said he would do when he wants to upgrade to 4K system.  Will need to upgrade PS at that time and some other case cooling like you said.

I like it. I had a TarpTent Notch before, but it was just too small for me (I value my space), so I sold it. I was gonna get the Single Rainbow, but I liked the 2019 improvements they made to the Double Rainbow, and it was only 6oz more, so I got it. It’s pretty huge inside. I did have TarpTent seam seal it which included the strips on the floor, but my sleeping pad still slid to the far side, so I need to figure something out there.

Great pics, very jelly.   Double Rainbow has to be huge as you can almost get two people in the Single.  For the pad sliding issue, get some silnet and make an array of slightly raised dots on the floor of the tent where your pad is located.  It will help a bunch vs the stripes they painted on the floor.  From what I remember, TT uses silnet diluted with something like alcohol or MEK and uses that to paint the seams and the floor stripes.  Its very thin and not much surface area to grab the pad.
