I don't know what business you're in, but I'm sure that you would love for people to treat it like that.

I'm a professional microwave stealer so I'm good with it

She argued with me for quite awhile that a "¾ Ton" truck is not the same as a 2500 (Chevy).

Showed her multiple resources online that specifically state YES, a ¾ Ton actually IS a 2500."

Her: "Well, the vehicle title doesn't state '2500", it says ¾" so you're wrong. "

    🤦‍♂️

I cannot even imagine having this argument with any woman, much less my wife. Who gives a shit? Why would you even try to correct her?

We bought a new GE combination microwave/convection oven.   My wife proceeded to tear the mica board waveguide cover out of it, “because it looked like cardboard and the instructions said to remove all packaging”.  Now I have to either try to fix it or return it.

Return it. I had to fix one when we moved into our house and it's just not the same as new.

Obviously. But I’m guessing he just got irritated at the first non-obvious bit of jargon and decided not to care what a FRQ was.

For context, this is the convo that inspired my post:

    Me: “the guy said—“
    Him: “wait. What guy?”
Me: “I’m about to freaking tell you what guy. The guy said that when he comes to do the trees he’ll need to start with the ones around the downed power lines.”

Could I have said “the tree guy?” Sure.
Would that have been better? Sure.
Would you treat a coworker or buddy that way? Probably not.

Yes but I don't have a history of stupid, pointless, and self-centered conversations with my coworkers or buddies so they get the benefit of the doubt.

This is what I mean. In 25 minutes of her talking about FRQ and the implications of the new FRQ, you were not able to use any contextual evidence to determine that FRQ is a type of assessment? I feel like you just decided not to care what FRQ means. Especially because if your wife has been an AP teacher for any length of time you would already know that FRQ means free response question.

See above.  That smell did not age well.

We lost a goldfish ... somewhere ... in my wife's car during a near accident on the New Jersey Turnpike years ago. I pulled the seats out, pulled the carpet out, you name it. Could never find it. We had to sell the car.

Still refer to it as the "Fishtastrophe."

We only ever do brunch there, and it's one of my all time favorite brunches ever, anywhere. We like it so much that when we had a 4 hour layover in Vegas a few years back we took a cab over to the Venetian just to have brunch at Bouchon before heading back to the airport. Everyone we take loves it too.

10-4 good to know. I go to the Venetian/Palazzo every year so I will try brunch there next time.

  7. Just finished Episode 10. This whole thing was excellent.

    Spoiler

Toragama using the same line Yabushige had told Omi earlier ("Why tell the future to a dead man") when he seconded Yabu was absolutely awesome. I presume it meant that Omi had been in league with Toranaga the entire time or at least that Toragama's spy network was so effective that he literally knew everything that was happening everywhere. I think that's why he waited before taking Yabu's head; he wanted to make sure he understood what he was saying and got it.

Made some nice sous vide to seared pork chops which were finished in my perfectly seasoned cast iron skillet.  My wife did the dishes.  I needn't say what happened next.  Stern words were had though.

Sorry but I always clean my cast iron immediately to avoid this. My mother-in-law ran the pan through the dishwasher once. Apparently dishwashers have rust in them already. The pan looked like it had been on the Titanic

My favorite part was the little foot stomp on the way over.

Apparently the wife got mauled, the second person who got out was her mother who got killed trying to save her. LOL?

    The MIL died?

That's extremely LOL. I was worried nobody was killed or injured in this otherwise wonderful scenario.

We had some good news tonight so it became a steak night.  I think the best thing I did to up my steak game was experiment with compound butters. This moves a home grilled steak from “awesome” to “never go to a steakhouse again.” Prime ribeye with anchovy-chive-garlic butter, charred asparagus, and ancho-lime basted corn.

My go-to compound butter is roasted garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and chopped sage. Really great complement for when I grill a whole tenderloin. I will coat the entire outside while it rests.

  11. I had a 94 80 I got brand new and put 250k miles on it, then a 97 40th Anniversary with locking diffs at 90k miles I put 150k more on it and now I have a 200 series I bought with 44k miles. In my experience brand new and 100k miles are virtually indistinguishable except for the new car smell and regular wear and tear on the interior.

I’m disappointed on the lack of a V6 in either the LC or 4Runner. If I have the bucks I’d go with the Lexus.

    Will stick with my 99 SR5 Sport V6 4wD. Only 175k.

I would HATE having a V6 in the LC. In lieu of the V8 I am interested in the 4 cylinder hybrid, especially if mileage really is 20+. I've been driving LCs since 1994 and have never gotten better than 13 MPG on a tank of gas.
