Where do we start - you have the main players: Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Baer, Dan Wesson, and Ed Brown. Those are all 1911's. These are generational pistols if you take care of them. More accurate than they need to be and milled to exacting specifications (so keep them clean).
HK 23 is a high-end "tactical" option that you can suppress. CZ Shadow is super clean and of course you have all the crazy modified polymer aftermarket options like Glock.
If I was shopping for one, I have this love affair with the Dan Wesson bobtail with the 4.5 inch barrel.
If you want super high end, check out Cabot. Their stuff is incredible. And they are really good guys.

No argument with the formula you describe and I'd add that the actor swap wherein you take a somewhat unknown but solid actor and make him/her Bond is my preference over a well known person such as Chalamet or Cavill etc. There are plenty of A list types that I think would do well and are pretty to look at but developing someone into Bond somewhat stays true to the character itself.
female Bond = garbage

In person isn't much better. The 4 good strawberries in the pack go bad in 2 days.
you have to be very careful in strawberry and raspberry selection. I have three kids so we mow through fruit but the struggle to find good berries is real.

My sister texted last night, inviting us to her place to watch the superbowl. I was camping with my boy, so I texted my wife asking if she wanted to go.
Her: I already have plans. Going to hang out with my sister and bake cookies.
Me: Oh, I didn't know you already had plans. How come you didn't let me know?
Her: I didn't think you were interested. Anyway, you can go to your sister's place.
My boy and I get back from camping I went out to wash the car. When I got home, my wife and daughter were gone, and my son was hanging out watching TV. I called her.
Me: Hey, where are you?
Her: I'm at my sister's place.
Me: So not only did you not tell me you had plans, but also don't tell me you're leaving and just leaving the boy here?
Her: I didn't think you cared. You're over-reacting.
🤬
Is it just my wife, or are any of your wives just really really shitty at communicating?
So you got to watch the Super Bowl with your son and no woman around?
Sounds awful.

Depends on the produce if we're being honest. Garlic, onions, carrots? Do your worst. Avocados? I'll be damned.
Ordering strawberries online is just buying a big pile of mold in a strawberry container.

Piero's still rocks.
Ate at Barry's Prime for the first time. Everything was good. The gnocchi were unbelievable.

I'm sure ham steaks would work well. I don't want to reduce the backstrap to paste.
Just now, DalTxHornFan said:My go to on backstrap is to insert insert sliced serrano peppers into the meat (hopefully left whole) and braise with beef stock and red wine. Don't overcook it - serve rare-ish. Reduce the stock and wine to a sauce while you let the meat rest. Check out the interwebs for details.
Thanks. How long do you think you braise it for? An hour or so?

Done - thanks y'all!
I was going to the say that the most important thing is don't do this kind of job when it's cold. Or at least run the heater for a long time. The plastic tabs can become brittle.

Venison backstrap bourguignon. Followed this riff on Child's recipe (oven method), just sub chunks of backstrap and a few other minor mods based on ingredient availability.

Does the back strap stand up to the braising? What's the consistency of it? I grilled a back strap the other day and frankly I just don't care for it. I need to figure out some "go-to" venison recipes because I don't care for it but my ten year old has started killing deer.

I saw the last post re crab claws, came back to reply about anchovies then found you beat me to it. Great secret ingredient. I don’t really see crab as a flavor that adds something but you can’t quite tell what it is. Anchovy is definitely that. Crab should just be crab. If you like what crab meat adds, try just adding a little bit of anchovy instead. Maybe just 1 oz. or so.
I do the same thing with two cans of canned crab. It dissolves but gives the gumbo some weight and a little extra punch.

I smoked a ten pounder as an add on for Thanksgiving this year on my vertical smoker and it was super easy with a Meater probe. Just make sure to salt it heavily well ahead of time to give the salt time to penetrate the meat.

Seemed sort of hostile that I must be some kind of genetically deficient human to have failed to grasp the importance of Pat McAfee nor even know his name. Okay, maybe I read too much into it.
I remain unfamiliar with McAfee. I meant merely to be pointed rather than hostile. Apologies if I missed the mark.
No problem. I was just surprised and reacted to your SEC dumbness statement. I feel like the college football world is saturated with McAfee right now.

I shot a 310 pound wild sow five times with a .270 less than 25 yards away up to point blank and I’m not sure there’s any pistol I’d feel good about using in that situation.

Laughed my ass off listening to the Hardline after work today scoffing at the delusional Alabama takes
What is the Hardline? I’ve been a Bama fan my whole life. My dad and grandfather played at Alabama. The delusion is real. All people need to know is Bama lost to two shitty teams and you can’t expect the committee to penalize a team for playing in a conference championship. I’m disappointed but only at Alabama’s performance.

Your reading comprehension skills are first rate.
That seems unnecessarily hostile. Pat McAfee is a former kicker for the Colts and has one of the biggest sports shows in the country. He’s from PA, played at WVU, and is not a SEC guy.

Kind of like us playing A&M. It's a bigger deal to lose than to win. It's what makes it different from OU (at least in the past).
It’s a shitty narrative. Look how far these programs have fallen!
DeBoer (who I like) fucked this season up. He cannot lose the bowl game to a .550 quality team too.

They are your Auburn. I did not realize when they came into the SEC that they are just a big Auburn. They’d rather you lose than them win. Very sad.

A win for DeBoer is meaningless. A loss for DeBoer is a serious problem for him.

Most quality firearms are more accurate than even very good shooters. America makes really good guns now. The fit and finish on Cabot guns is beyond anything I have ever seen in a firearm. Certainly in a handgun. You might get close on the absolute finest double barreled shotguns.
