Yeah I walked around that entire "downtown" after dark and never felt threatened or even concerned.

Downtown is completely dead at night from that perspective. The real crime is outside of downtown and is Baltimoresque

I'm still chuckling about some of the jokes tucked into throwaway lines, like "She thinks I'm a fascist? I don't control the railways, or the flow of commerce!" and "It's like I've been in a dream where I was really invested in the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League."

"To be honest, when I found out patriarchy wasn't about horses, I lost interest."

    Just rewatched last year's game.

    Missed chip shot.

    Blown safety call.

    Missed sack on Young.

    Missed fast mask on KR.

    Holding on the long run.

Plus a bunch of other plays, any one of which could have meant the w.

Go beat their asses this year.

As a Bama fan I think the face mask was an unforgivable blown call. I assumed we lost when it happened.

Have you ever watched Milroe attempt to complete a forward pass?  Therein lies the answer.

You can fix that, or at least make it tolerable (see Jalen Hurts). The problem is Milroe's decision making. He is indecisive which neutralizes his natural physical gifts.

If Simpson starts you guys will beat their fuck in.

We (Bama) are going to run the ball 2000 times against Texas.

Skip Legal’s Seafood. Except their test kitchen. They are pretty ordinary.

Legal's is overpriced and really not very good. Agree about the test kitchen. The only exception to their mediocrity is I do think their chowder is great.

I'm sitting on a pending AA flight to BHM (from DFW) for $850 and starting to think that's a bit too steep for this when I could instead fly to Montgomery.

Is there any room on a booked shuttle service between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa for Saturday?

Be advised Montgomery is small and unreliable

I was rummaging through my fridge and found stuff I had to eat soon or toss.  So I just whipped up a crawfish, broccoli, red bell pepper, caramelized onion, cherry tomato, bacon, Vermont white cheddar and Oregon Guyere’ Quiche.  I accidentally made something that tastes awesome.

    GODDAMN

  8. You could take your kids and walk up to the top of the Bunker Hill monument. It will be the worst thing you ever make them do and they will never complain on a family trip again.

just imagine doing 300 steps on a stairmaster that is slowly spinning in a hot, airless, dark tunnel that smells like warm vomit and urine

Fuck. I need to put this on alert when it goes off. I've missed a ton of trips here.

    I live here.

One piece of bad news - you are coming to Boston during Restaurant Week - brings in a lot of non "restauranteurs"

    But my recommendations:

Seaport? That is my jam. I used to work there. I should get a job there again.

    Places I recommend:

    Top Flight:

    • Row 34 - some of the best seafood you can get (get a reservation)
    • Sportello - Great modern pasta. This doesn't appear on a quick restaurant search (also get a reservation)
    • Moo.... - I love their Beacon Hill location, I haven't tried the one in Seaport, but I would expect it to be good (reservation)
    • Trillium - just to get their beer, but their food is solid

    Just a notch below

    • Lucky's Lounge - a good pub, I have a soft spot for this place, their food is sneaky good (quail egg sliders)
    • Pastoral - easy to do. Good drinks, solid pizza.
    • The Barking Crab - a fun seafood joint
    • Sullivan's Castle Island - ok, not in the Seaport and a touch of a walk/drive - but really solid fried seafood

    Some Breakfast places:

    • Flour - your best choice (IMHO)
    • Tatte - there are a few in the area, easy and quick, not as good
    • Kane's Donuts - Donut shop

Also, just avoid any of the "Mexican" places in Seaport - they suck. You will be sad you spent your money on them (especially Pink Taco).

    Fenway Area
First a transit note - you can take the Framingham/Worcester (pronounced Wuster) commuter line from South Station, it will cost more but likely be less crowded than the Green Line. If you take the Green Line - EXIT AT KENMORE NOT FENWAY!!!

Now places immediately around Fenway, they are just ok. Cask & Flagon probably would match the Baseball Bar you hung out last time.

I will second Bukowski's because it's an institution.

I will stop there, unless you want more recommendations.

BTW - you want dive bar, you are near the dive-iest bar in all of Mass at the Seaport - Biddy Early's - That is THE dive bar.

My knowledge is over 20 years old but how does Biddy Early's compare to Beacon Hill Pub as a dive bar?

Just this weekend, while we were driving somewhere, my wife did the "long rambling story wandering off into 20 different people, relationships, and things that happened, all to tell you about one simple thing" bit.  Started with "there's this new restaurant a friend was telling me about".....then 7 minutes of a wandering tale of her friend's husband being a surgeon, he's really busy, he has an estranged relationship with his daughter from his first marriage, so that's stressful, so they need good date nights, blah blah blah it ends with "so they ate at X restaurant, and said that it was really good, we should try it sometime."

When she gets there, I just smiled, and said "7 minutes."  Wife says "what about 7 minutes?"  I said "you started the story with 'there's this new restaurant,' and then you spent 7 minutes telling me all kinds of things about people I don't know, have never met, and never will meet, before you even get to the point you started the story on."  She grinned, and shrugged her shoulders with a "you get what you get with me" message implied in that shrug.

My hope was that by flagging her to such an event in real-time, maybe she'll be more conscious of it in the future.

But who am I fooling?  It won't make a shit.

That's way nicer than my most recent "why are you telling me this bullshit?" comment. It probably went over better, too.
