  1. Sounds like Surly is quite divided on this issue. I've always had a divided one and right now one half is kept only for baby and toddler things that need to be cleaned a certain way according to my wife. If I do remodel I will consider a full or at least a bigger farmhouse one with a larger bowl on one side as was mentioned earlier.

Just as a PSA, if you've got an AMEX that has an airline credit, buying 500 mile upgrades from American WILL trigger the credit.  Just did it on a couple of my cards (AMEX Platinum and AMEX Business Platinum).

Before you ask, I have the Business Platinum because I actually have a business and I just got the personal Platinum.  I'll have to reevaluate when the Business card comes up for renewal whether it's worth it.  I can write off the annual fee to help offset the AF, so that's a plus.  And the airline credit gets me another $200 towards AF.  Plus, if I do any business traveling, I can get 5x MR points booking it thru AMEX.

What other interesting ways are people using that airline credit? I used to purchase the vouchers until they stopped allowing it. Then I started just buying liquor on the plane but that doesn't work very much since I'm often in AA Extra seating where it's free.

  3. No idea if shes fuckin with you or not...my 4.5 yr old wasnt "fully" trained until like 3.5 but we did potty prizes every time she told us she had to go and went successfully which im sure you've done

We've been super lazy on night time training but we'll worry about that a later date lol

She has been fully night trained for a long time... has no problem getting up in the middle
of the night to go. As we speak it’s been a week since any accidents so I almost think it’s an attention thing.

Oh and we have loads of Anna and Elsa undies in this house.

  4. So my little girl(just turned 4) has been struggling to make it to the toilet in time. Her accidents are normally very light and then she catches it and goes to the bathroom but these are now commonly occurring. She was potty trained and was doing great since before 3 but started doing Pre K last Fall and it’s been much worse now. I’m thinking changes with her now being in wcgool plus now having a new baby in the family are making this worse so looking for advice on what to do. When we talk to her the answers are that “she didn’t know” and not really telling us why. Any tips on how to help would be appreciated.

Well, they got 40 years added to their journey for being dicks too if memory serves.

I’m a pretty simple creature. I’d probably go ahead and do what the deity living among me said.

Thats rule one. Rule two involves what to do when trapped on a high rise and asked if you’re a god by an extra-dimensional being.

Right, the extra 40 years of wandering was to let all the mouthy ones die off and have their progeny get to the promised land.

Planning a trip to the area this summer with my wife. We'll probably have 4 days. First time for either of us in New England.

We're interested in history/historic sites, seeing different parts of nature/scenery in that area, and doing activities in areas that allow you to "experience" the sites/scenery.

I've read through most of the suggestions on this and other threads, but want to see if anyone has suggestions geared towards these preferences?

Freedom Trail is on the list, and maybe a drive to Plymoth, Cape Cod/Provincetown. Portsmyth or Portland are also possibilities.

Is there anything worth going to in Connecticut or RI?

Acadia is probably too far for us, but is White Mountain or anything else in NH/Vermont worth making a drive to see/experience?

With just 4 days you might want to just stick to Boston proper as you will have plenty to do/see/eat within core downtown. Everyone is driving out to the cape each Friday over the summer and while it's great I'm just not sure you have enough time to really do anything unless you had a couple days. Newport RI is great but again that's a trip by itself. Plenty to do in VT... Visit the Alchemist in Stowe or Whistle Pig in Waterbury if you are into craft beer or Whiskey distilleries.

Bandon has seasons, and golf and rooms both vary depending on time of year. The good thing is, Bandon doesn't play any pricing games. No packages, discounts, etc - you pay what's on the website, and all rates are published at the beginning of the year. Here's the 2020 room rates table, for example - 2020 Rates (Bandon Website)

From there, it's just a math problem - how many nights, how many rounds, caddie or no caddie. Travel and food are the other two big expenses (I include booze with 'food'). Again, the Bandon website tells you everything you need to know about travel. The closest airport has 2-3 flights a day (SFO and DEN connecting), otherwise Eugene or Portland, and a rental car. FRom what I"ve seen, the United Airlines prices aren't really realistic a year out, so I haven't booked October flights yet; I'll probably do that in March (~6 months out).

You should definitely do it. Do it.

I'm playing Bandon again this year in late April... before the new course opens but oh well as it should be after the Preserve opens.

To DrewLaws question about when to go as it get's close to late summer the prices go up on the rounds as it presumably better weather then. Before April The Preserve is not open and the rounds are the cheapest. Maximizing your dollar you can play two rounds a day so the second one is half price and then it's just all about lodging and what you are going to spend on food and booze. Each year I'm probably spending ~$750 on travel; ~$2500-3000 on lodging, golf, food and drink while on property; $100 a round for caddies; and $400 or so for day money games and gambling in the bunker bar.

The expense of replacing it is a trip to Lowe's, about $20 (for a fancy one), and less than an hour of your time.

Are you sure? I think replacing an outdoor faucet depends on how it's attached. I had some in my old house that were directly soldered onto the Brass pipe therefore to change out would include draining the whole water supply in order to cut it off and put a new one on.

I am very familiar with that country having commuted between San Angelo and Snyder for a big part of my childhood.

Doesn't seem like it can support a bear, so that would be pretty cool to see if/when you can get the picture downloaded.

We had several Mexican Black bears on our place just west of San Angelo in the past few years. The guy that I have ranching the property has been chasing them off with dogs every chance he gets so I think they moved a few ranches over this Fall. Not sure if we have any recent pics.

  10. I'll have to get it from her. Two of her coworkers were in Bennu when it all went down. He said the guy was a real shady looking homeless type either hanging around outside the coffee shop or in the coffee shop. While they were sitting he suddenly came in and went crazy stabbing some people; running off afterwards. They are all being held in there for questioning.

  11. My final outstanding deal got signed on the 31st putting me right at annual quota and good enough for top rep.

My market has been though this past year and not sure if I see it getting any better in the months to come so might be taking a look around in early 2020.

  12. Marriott has acquired several small boutique hotel chains as well the you might want to check out. I’ve stayed at some of the Luxury Collection hotels that were really nice. Hotel de Berri in Paris was phenomenal. Ritz properties as mentioned above will always be superb on service (all though sometimes rooms and hotel can be dated)

  13. I have a Denon receiver with several wired speakers around the house and ended up using Chromecast so I could cast Pandora from my Google Home on the main wired speakers. I'm actually struggling right now because while it supports multiple zones I can't seem to figure out how to stream music to them. Ideally I setup speakers outside in a new zone that could play music/different volume etc. I've read that Zones 2 and 3 only support Analog music streams versus the digital and I need to have the source use the RCA inputs but since I'm streaming that's not going to work. Anyone dealt with this?

  14. Well shit, I’m heading out this weekend so morning hunts might be rough.

However check this 11pt that was taken this past Sunday. One of the best ones I’ve seen in a while.

Hmm I come into Austin once a week for work and usually stop into Austin Wine Merchant. They have a really great wine, liqueur, and obscure spirit selection, but have been letting me down on whiskey lately. I'll have to check out Austin Shaker today.

Whiskey tasting today runs from 6-9 and it's the one on 12th and Airport (not the 5th location)
