1. I would recommend the Thompson as well. It's in a great area. The restaurant is fantastic and their rooftop bar is my favorite in Nashville. Easy $8-$10 uber anywhere you want to go. If you can, get tickets to the Blue Bird Cafe on Friday night. Its very limited but is an amazing experience, doesn't matter who is playing or if you don't who they are. Usually they have a song writer come in and perform the songs they wrote and tell the story behind it. When we went, it was the guy who wrote "The Gambler" and 20 other songs you know, really, really cool.
2. My bad on the recs for kids/ families. We went without kids and thought old town Alexandria was cool at night. Lots of options. Have fun. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3. We took kids right before Covid hit the first time. So I can’t speak for current conditions other then my friends who live and work there say it’s mostly back to normal as far as tourist attractions go. Look at the Darcy hotel. About 8-10 walk to White House. Not crazy expensive but nice. Cheap up ride back if kids are tired. When you are at or around capital, check out we, the pizza. One block away. Small outdoor patio, great pizza by the slice. There are a few other restaurant option right there as well. (305 Pennsylvania Ave). Great spot to hit for lunch. I found most nicer restaurants are not particularly kid friendly around dc. The only exception was Old Ebitt Grill. Which is great, has a ton of history and is on the corner across from the White House. Would highly recommend if wanting a nicer dinner w the family and can check out White House at night. My kids liked the spy museum. If they buy into the interactive spy game, they should have fun. The 007 Aston Martin is really cool. Hit up your congressman for a capital tour (I think they are still doing those). Well worth it. Easy to set up. The air and space Smithsonian was under refurbishment and I imagine it I still is. Was a major disappointment due to 75% of it being closed. I heard the other one about 45 minutes is way better. I wish we had rime to do the naval aircraft carrier museum/ tour. Would do that next time for sure. And yes, pot smoke/smell is everywhere along with homeless people living in the parks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4. Absolutely correct. These have ruined all other pickles for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
5. This was just my personal list/vote. Not the final list. There are a few I left off that should probably be on the list but I have not been to yet. And yes, pecan lodge was more a nostalgic pick and I have not been back in a few years. MiCo HP is more for the scene and the drinks then saying it’s the best TexMex in Dallas. Though, it’s hard to say it’s not consistent and above average with generally really good service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

7. I have sorted the list and we have 104 nominations. Reply with your list of your top 25 list. The list does not have to be in order of 1-25 yet, just the 25 that you think should be on the list I will keep track of the nominations and present a master list to vote from once we have a smaller list. FYI, You can copy and paste this into excel to easily sort through and paste back into the browser. 8. Life has a funny way of spoiling my fun. This tread had an epic start for sure. Hell, I might actually be in the office tomorrow to spend more time on this. I am very short handed and having to spend all my time driving l35 from SA to Dallas helping my installers. If it doesn’t happen tomorrow, it might be a while. Can’t find anyone who wants to work. Anyways, I do have some ideas to have some fun with this narrowing down the Surly25. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
9. Defense playing very good. Need offense to show up now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

11. When we work out the sitter issues and pull the trigger I’ll send you a text. I owe you a drink or two if your in town Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
12. Would love a chance to take you up on this! Wife and I have been trying to carve out a weekend to fly to Chicago for a Maple and Ash dinner. Damn overnight sitter issues are killing us now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
13. Adding to our list Pappa’s steakhouse. Location sucks, Houston one is better, still a great mother fucking meal every time. Nobu- yes, your probably over it, but it never disappoints on many levels. Rodeo goat. Great burger. Knife- for their pimento cheese burger R+D kitchen. Officially on the list Ellie’s- another great burger. The Charles Tei-an sushi Fearing’s. Dallas institution. Great restaurant. Dean might be the nicest chef in America Truluck’s - seafood. Neighborhood services. Needs to be on The Surly list to discuss. Haven’t been in a while, but had some great dinners there over the years. Mercat Bistro - brunch Saint Ann’s - not sure where to put this one. Really good outdoor dining, great drinks, food and people watching. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
14. Thank you Landomatic is picking jumping on this already. List is starting to look pretty solid. About to add my additions to the list now that I have a few minutes. Will let this run through the weekend do additional names, then post another master list and a last call before voting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
15. First we will nominate. If you want to do it in categories, that's fine, but it is not required. Once a master list of entries is established, I will post it. Looking for around 40-50 total. Anyone can then score each one on the list 1-5, 5 is the highest ranking, 1 is lowest. I add up the scores to create our rankings and then we can debate the results and re-sort if needed. You can score as many as you want any value 1-5. Categories: Steak 1 2 3 4 Barbeque 1 2 3 4 Pizza 1 2 3 4 Burgers 1 2 3 4 Tex-Mex 1 2 3 4 Italian 1 2 3 4 Asian/Thai/Chinese/Etc 1 2 3 4 High End/Big Night Out 1 2 3 4 Sandwiches 1 2 3 4 Seafood 1 2 3 4 Sushi 1 2 3 4 Etc 1 2 3 4 Again, if you just want to nominate and not fill in categories, please do. Let the nominations fly in! Cheers
16. I would run over a group of nuns to eat those! Perfection, absolute perfection. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
17. Boom! This is it. Keep it simple. You got a week to enter submissions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
18. Sure, I’ll spearhead this endeavor. My initial thought was not necessarily high end restaurants. Sure, you can’t go wrong with monarch or pappa’s and they probably belong somewhere on the list in my opinion. But when I was thinking about what I would want in a top 25 list I immediately thought of place that have been consistently good in both food and experience. For example, R+D Kitchen is not super high end. I’ve been there probably 50 times and never had a bad experience. I don’t get a chance to hit up street taco/food trucks when I’m in the area, but if they consistently knock it out of the park, then they deserve a place on the list to debate. I like Landomatic idea of creating some categories we can nominate to in order to create a master list and a set of criteria to rank from. I’ll have some time this weekend to develop a system and post it. Depending on how games go on Saturday will determine my productivity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
19. After reading the D magazine top 50 restaurants list and laughing my ass off. I realized the esteemed members surly need our own list. Pretty sure we are too busy or lazy for 50, so 25 is the mark Nominations are open Discussion and debate are encouraged. Anyone in? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
20. Hopefully she will laugh about this some day and remind you of the time she endured a sea of manatees at the pool and well as half drunk elephants at the buffet. My mother is a cruiser -goes three or four times a year. Don’t know why bc she does not fit the stereotype. Guess it’s an easy way for her to see places. She recently brought up she wanted to take the whole family on a cruise. I quickly reminded her the only time my wife (gf at the time) and I were on a cruise, we packed our bags and got off at the first port and flew home a week later to meet up with other family members that stayed on the ship. You made the correct choice by not going. Cruise ships are worse then Walmart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
21. The Smith was one of the more kid friendly places we went in nyc. They have multiple locations. Would highly recommend with your crew. Prices will not require a second Morgage to feed your family. Food is great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
22. Considering family road trip west to Mount Zion. We typically do not do the outdoorsy hiking trips but I feel it might be worth a shot. I don’t know shit how this works in terms of national parks, hiking, gear, etc. The wife and I are in shape and our only medical concern is our type 1 son (recently diagnosed in last 14 months). Can a trip like this be enjoyed without extreme or general isolation or remote locations far from aid? Tips appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
23. Stopped by Eataly to pick up some Italian wines during their 20% sale. Started with this Il Borro. Nice and smooth. Just the right amount of oak. Not overly citrus. Excellent pick up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
24. Just got back from a quick and much needed getaway to Dallas and was lucky enough to experience Monarch. It has easily catapulted to the top spot on my Dallas restaurant list. Stunning views and decor. Staff was on point. Excellent wine list that is not over priced. I noticed most bottles were only 2x retail. Which is really nice compared to the 2.5 or even 3x I’ve seen recently. Had a fantastic 2016 L’Alberello. What really sets Monarch apart is the food. Wonderful menu of Mediterranean inspired seafood, wood fired steaks and handmade pasta. Everything was outstanding. Thank you ChiTownDoc for bringing chef Grant from Chicago to Dallas. Can’t wait for Maple and Ash to open. You guys are killing it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
25. Your list is looking strong Check out these : Schramsburg is always a good one to start out with. Awesome and massive cave. Above average American champagne that’s about $60 a bottle. If your wife likes Veuve clicquot, she will like this. Barnett’s should be on your list. Amazing view from the top of spring mountain. Great for 1-3 couples. Rattlesnake cab is in my top 5 Napa cabs. Estate cabs are $100- rattlesnake is $195 last time I looked. They used to wave the tasting fee if you spent $200+ on wine. Hall has some of my favorite wines. There facility is huge. Would only Recommend doing a private tasting and tour. IMO they are the best large producer of wine in Napa. Plus they are owned by Texans. Far Niete is another to look into. Good wines. Cool car museum as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
