FWIW, I listened to portions of the birthright citizenship case and when they were not discussing injunctions, at least 6, and possibly 7 judges were extremely skeptical of the government’s position.
Yeah but Barrett loves to sound sane in oral arguments then rule with Alito.

I'm gonna need the Glorious Kahn Pritzker to get creative. He can't let Newsom be the only Dem publicly fighting this administration.

Kinda strange that “Islamist” is a term that trips the breaker for some when “Christofascist” is perfectly acceptable.
What the fuck are you even talking about?

Totally not a conservative skipper isn’t just following dear leader’s marching orders.

It’s very funny that skipper got mad at me for calling him a conservative when he’s here downplaying how fucking weird and infantile Trump is.

Talking to voters and listening to them. Seems like a good strategy.
But have you considered that Chuck Schumer makes up fake voters in his head and wonders how they'll respond to certain messages/policies?
Yes, he really does this.

The Japanese were in no position to dictate terms. Why was it so important to the Japanese not to offer an unconditional surrender?
They wanted to keep the emperor as a figurehead. US officials were split and didn't want to agree to that. The real bitch of it all is that we later let him keep the throne.
Also, relying on a fucking LLM to fact check should get an instaban.

The "be interesting" part of that is what @Bozo_Casanova has argued recently, stating that it's more important than the actual policies.
Being interesting certainly helps, but that's not even strictly speaking necessary. Bernie isn't interesting but motivated a hell of a lot of people. The minimum is that you have to seem like you give a shit about something that other people want you to give a shit about. This isn't complicated, centrist Dem strategists just overcomplicate it because they need to do so to keep getting hired on campaigns that fail too often and underperform always.

I've only voted R for President once post Bush (Romney). I voted straight D last election on anything non-local. But if they want to move far left, that's fine, I'll sit and home and let the nutjobs on both sides fight it out. And I'm fairly confident how that will go. A lot like last cycle.
Pray tell, what part of Kamala's campaign was far left? Or was it nominating a candidate who wasn't a white man that you consider far left?

LOL. Never ceases to amaze me. Anyone that dares to stray from the groupthink on this board is a trumper. I'll leave you all to it but confident that every R (rightfully) worried about midterms views this as an absolute gift from a national messaging standpoint.
I didn't say you're a trumper, I said you're a conservative. It's pretty obvious from your posting history.

No, they won't.

What the former Intel leaders said was that a mysterious laptop, with no digital forensic chain of custody, shows up with a bunch of embarrassing, but not criminally inculpatory information on it has the earmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign.
They were, ultimately, wrong. Unlike Fox News and election disinfo and half the other shit they spew, they did not know they were wrong ahead of time and spew it anyway.
The only people that knew the Steele Dossier was bullshit were Steele and I guess some of his sources. People were credulous of it, but, again, unlike Fox News, they didn't KNOW it was bullshit before they started spewing.
What Fox News routinely does is disinformation, intentionally wrong information. The rest is just being conventionally wrong, something Fox rarely admits to.
Not to sidetrack the thread further, but I think this is misleading. Nobody actually knows what happened. The most likely theory has always been that someone hacked Hunter's email and loaded up genuine emails along with a bunch of bullshit on a laptop that might have been stolen from Hunter or might've been another laptop entirely. What's pretty clear is someone tampered with the data on the laptop. It might've been Russians, it might've been GOP operatives. We don't know and probably never will. Marcy Wheeler has a good summary of all the knowns and unknowns here: https://www.emptywheel.net/2025/01/24/embarrassingly-wrong-the-ongoing-misinformation-campaign-about-the-hunter-biden-hard-drive/.

Dude was a nut - another Hinckley or Jared Loughler (sp?).
This isn’t even the first time a right wing murderer has pretended to be the right’s fake lefty conspiracy version of himself as a troll. You’re basically promoting a terrorist’s manifesto. Good work, dipshit.

We learned a long time ago - and Ukraine has proven a stark example of that in modern warfare - airstrikes don't "win" shit. You don't accomplish real goals on the ground without....boots on the ground. Want to take out Iran's nuclear sites? It's going to take troops going into each of those facilities to do so.
Anything less is mostly a show that results in buying some time, maybe.
Countdown to Trump being outraged that people are questioning his tactical and strategic brilliance, and ordering a ground invasion because goddammit he said so?
The one thing Trump has always had good instincts on is that he doesn't want to put American boots on the ground. But tons of people around him and everyone on Fox News is going to be coaxing him to do so and I don't think he's got the self control to say no at the end of the day.

However our uniparty foreign policy gang is going to steer him away from actually retaliating against Israel outside of angry Truths and snarky call-in media hits on Fox News.
Fantana is right. Nothing has fundamentally changed on the ground for Iran since Israel started this war. Trump wanted to feel like a badass and for a weekend he got many pats on the back from republicans and liberals alike with no media attention whatsoever on how incredibly fucking illegal it was, not to mention hypocritical compared to the media's coverage of Russia threatening a Ukrainian nuclear facility. Very smart people have known for decades that those are sensitive targets with huge ecological repercussions for the region. We don't want another Chernobyl or Fukushima.
The media has really disappointed me, and the bar was already incredibly low.
I think @956 Worldwide's post yesterday is right. Iran's ability to both project force and to defend itself have been seriously impacted, their proxies they thought would help have shown themselves unreliable partners, as have Russia and China. The status quo isn't the same.
However, it seems that all we've accomplished is a small delay in their nuclear program. In exchange for that delay, we've made them much likelier to pursue a bomb ASAP, have essentially destroyed international nonproliferation, gave Russia and China some new info on the B-2's capabilities and shown them that our bunker busters may not get the job done. Oh, and we've made it much likelier that Iran will be ruled by even more hardliners going forward.
You can see how Israel sees all of this as a victory for them. But it's hard to see how it's a victory for us.
