My wife's sign for our son won the day in Round Rock Everyone wanted his picture. Great turnout, enthusstic crowd for suburban Wilco! Thanks to any surly neighbors who may have showed up to this, it gave me and my family a much-needed sense of community and togetherness we haven't felt in a long time. I was only able to attend for an hour before heading off to work but it put a huge smile on my face for the entire day and I've been thinking about it late into the night. Living in a red district with lifted trucks everywhere and all the maga cultural touchstones shoved in my face constantly has made me stereotype all the people I see at the local HEB or Walmart or parks in our neighborhood to the point where everyone who isn't wearing their leftism on their sleeves is just another fuckin MAGA goon to me, or at least a bothsidser idiot who can't be bothered to pay attention to the arsonists burning it all down around us. I've become miserably judgmental about the strangers who are my neighbors because I see so many assholes in maga 2A copaganda anti-woke shirts, hats, and bumperstickers that I have gradually assumed that everyone around us supports these GOP ghouls. Seeing all the faces in the crowd from all walks of life and all ages at today's Round Rock protest was a great reminder to me that there are so many average joes and janes in my area who may not look like Portland Antifa, but they are allies in the fight against American fascism. This is what reminds you why your country is worth fighting for.
Ha I had to get y'alls picture. I'll send it to you.
I too was at the Round Rock protest (also my 1st) and let me just say ditto to everything Gourmand so eloquently stated above. It was truly heartwarming and much needed boost to my appreciation of my neighbors.

There will be two women there as I have talked my daughter into going. It is funny because I was literally telling (boring) her last week about how Rush was my 1st band that I totally geeked out over around freshman year of high school and how hardly any girls would be at the shows and how their kickass drummer died, never to be replaced.
I didn't think she would care for it but she said "It sounds like fun." We are driving out to Alpine in a couple of weeks so we will see if she still feels that way after a 7 hour drive listening to the complete discography (or maybe just through Exit Stage Left).

Damn, dad. Well done.
Took her to see Dylan, Drive-By Truckers and Spoon this past year too. She is getting expensive.
And if Rush announces an Austin, San Antonio or Houston show Dad's going to need a second mortgage.

Got NIN at Moody. Sweet.
So in the "Old Man Takes Daughter to Shows" category I have McCartney, David Byrne and NIN in the next few months.

Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this... Hopefully the cover photo will make up for it.

She seems a little "off" in her SM posts. Hope she is ok.

Voir Dire, Punishers, and Strange Moon. Bits of other songs but those are her main writes and lead vocals.
How cool it must be. Proud dad indeed. Hell I'm proud and we've never met.
Punisher, Punk Rock Anthem and Voir Dire are the ones that stand out to me.

Yeah, they just shot video #3 on Sunday. All 3 singers/songwriters are getting one of the first three singles. It's my daughter's turn next. I think it will possibly turn more heads because (ahem *cough*) she's a more adept singer, and avoids the screamo stuff. It's a great song. After that, the album drops.
Which songs did your daughter write? Really digging their new album. I was going to take my daughter to see them at Stubb's but that is the night before McCartney.

The simple solution to all of this is to eat the laughingly overrated inbred motherfuckers for lunch and then shit them out into the Fair Park 1920’s sewer system and let someone else sort out which is Fletchers and with is Sooner byproduct

I can see the sun and stars. Mythical gods not so much.
Theres a great series on Netflix, Our Universe, narrated by Morgan Freeman which does an incredible job illustrating our connection to a higher power. That power being the sun and the stars.
I find it fascinating that nearly all of the hydrogen in the universe was created soon after the Big Bang. So when people say "We are stardust" they should say "We are Big Bang matter and stardust."
That would have been harder to Jodi Mitchell to rhyme though.
