That's why that chain is on the hand truck, dumbass.  Chain it up and you won't get a mouthful of compressed gas tank.

That reminded me of a story a former co-worker told me years ago.  He was working on a rig off the Louisiana coast, and oxygen and acetylene tanks stared disappearing.  No one could figure out why until late one night a guy just happened to be looking the right way to see something shoot off the side of the rig into the darkness.  He told his supervisor what he saw and they went to investigate.  They found out that a guy had welded two pipes to a rail, pointed out away from the rig, in such a way that he could push a tank up onto the pipes.  He would put a tank on this makeshift launcher, with the bottom of the tank pointed out to sea, and knock the valve off the tank with a hammer.  The tank would then take off, like in the video above.  This greatly entertained the knucklehead, until he was caught.  A boat brought some more tanks the next day, and the knucklehead got to ride back on the boat to where the appropriate parish sheriff arrested him for criminal mischief.  I guess it was fun while it lasted.

I was working with an Alaska pipeline welder that said they had these deep casings in the ground that they would drop O2 tanks, valve first, into and they would shoot out like a rocket.   Wasn't sure I believed him until that video.

While we're on the subject, what happened to half pints? Perfect size bottle for a boot or to avoid a pat down at Texas games. I bought a couple today at my neighborhood Spec's and all they had was Maker's or Woodford Reserve. Same thing at Total Wine.

I fail to see the problem.

What can I say?  I’m still bitter my student loans … which I finished repaying in the mid-70’s … haven’t been forgiven and rebated.  Isn’t living free off of others the way we go these daze?

    OK Boomer.

Im.sure I've posted before, but was at this show and Page was on point.

They recruited a bunch of local high school kids to do the orchestral parts. I can't even imagine how badass that was for those kids.

I have that ticket stub somewhere.

I have an interesting story regarding one of my Texas ancestors and William "Billy" Barton (owner of springs and apparently, slaves).  I'm a direct descendant of Gen. Ed Burleson (from Republic of Texas fame).  William Barton's son, Wayne Barton, married a daughter of General Ed.  William Barton was the first Sherriff of Travis County.  There was a dispute between the Burleson son (John) and William Barton and Barton shot and killed John.  A couple of years later, two of John Burleson's brothers found William Barton and killed him.

edited to add that my GGG Grandfather, David Crockett Burleson (1837 - 1911) would have been about 12 years old at the time.

AUSTIN COLONY PIONEERS, Ray, 1995 Wayne Barton, son of old Billy Barton, was a waggish fellow with a strong sense of humor, says Noah Smithwick in his "Evolution of a State." (Because of his temper and because of his inherited dislike of neighbors... and perhaps because he had killed a son of Gen. Edward Burleson in 1848, two of Gen. Burleson's sons went after and killed him.. after numerous rounds were exchanged, despite the fact that Wayne Barton was the husband of their sister, Mary.)

NORTHERN STANDARD, of Clarksville, February 3rd, 1849, p.2, col.5: "Wayne Barton was killed in Washington County by two sons of General Burleson. Several shots were fired on both sides. Mr. Barton was a son-in-law of General Burleson, the former Vice-President of Texas. The quarrel originated from an old grudge - Barton having killed a brother of the Burlesons last year, and this was the first opportunity they had of taking revenge."

Early Texans were some feuding sons of bitches.

Especially the cedar choppers and that wasn't that long ago.

  6. I woke up swinging after my colonoscopy. My first recollection was hearing someone say "Whoa, we got a fighter here!"

I also remember nearly being in tears at 6 am for the 8 am procedure because my shit wasn't clear like they require and I thought i was going ro have to do it all over again. 30 minutes later it was clear as water.

The 1st meal after starving and shitting yourself for 24 hours is pretty tasty.

The funny thing about this topic is how small Dealey Plaza is in person.  I thought that it would be this giant thing and Oswald made some crazy 1000 yard shot and that's why all the conspiracy theories are true.  Standing on the X on the road where the killing shot hit, it's not even 75 yards to the window in the book depository.  It immediately made me realize that anybody with a gun rest and a scope who didn't have  Parkinson's would have a solid chance of hitting a target in steady, slow moving vehicle.

Yeah I've made dozens of harder deer kill shots than Oswald made that day.
