  1. I would kick Jesus or the pope or anyone else in the face if he tried to wash my feet but only because my feet are super ticklish.

  2. They just announced two Dylan shows at Moody Theater for Apr 5th and 6th.  Sale starts Friday. I haven't seen him in a while so I see this as maybe a last chance.  Hopefully he can sing well enough.  My other times seeing him has been hit or miss.

  3. My loon of an adopted sister tracked down her birth mother's phone number and address and promptly called her up only to have the first person to answer the phone say "Someone says you are their mom," and then the mom gets on the phone and loudly denies having my sister.  Fun times.  I had told her to just mail her mom and see if she wants to call on her own time but reason and patience are not her strengths.  Wild assed conspiracy theories are though.

Lack of experience.  Lack of training.  Lack of oversight.  Lack of giving a fuck.  Lack of accountability.  They probably had a pretty robust procedure at one point, then some bean counter eliminated the step to save time.  Dudes who had experience kept doing it.  Experienced dude quit/retired/ laid off.  Fresh dude from the union came in.  Did what procedure said.  Asked if that was how it was done.  Supervisor said if that's what the procedure says then do it.  No one actually knew any better so they kept doing it.

    It's the Gorilla Experiment.

Generally speaking of Immigration and Psychology/Sociology/Urban Legends:

No one’s family name was changed at Ellis Island. The popular belief that immigrants’ names were altered, shortened, or misheard by bungling authorities at Ellis Island is a complete myth, according to a thorough debunking by professors Rosemary Meszaros and Katherine Pennavaria: https://journals.ala.org/index.php/dttp/article/view/6655/8939

In fact, no names were written down at Ellis Island—the people coming to the US were required to provide their contact information when buying the tickets for the journey, so their names were already recorded in the ship’s manifest. Families might have changed their names after settling in the new country.

You can blame a scene in The Godfather II for popularizing the urban legend.

    Negged for abject stupidity.

Lulz.  I saw this quote the other day on here.  Didn't recall it.  Randomly decided to watch Lonesome Dove for the first time since, oh, 1997.  There it is.  Love this series, but the geography is driving me crazy.  I'm guessing the series had to speed up the book - hence Gus seemingly ending up in the panhandle (Llano Estacado) just after Lane's character gets taken outside of San Antonio.

You probably shouldn't watch 1883 then.

Halloween '81 Cotton Bowl. I was a high school freshman and asked my dad if I could go see The Rolling Stones.  He said "I have some stones you can roll," and made me pick up rocks out of the fields all weekend.  He liked to recall that story until I shut him up by telling I told him that at that point I just quit asking and started going to concerts without permission.
