isn't that a comment he already made? the reason trump's lawyer read it all was because it was evidence, right? he didn't call him that in court

Yes, he first said it awhile back. I think it caught some attention and he really likes how it's played so he uses it quite a bit. Cohen is not a "good guy" in any of this sordid mess. He's useful for the prosecution but I think maybe he might be better served turning down the "asshole" bit just a little bit in order to hold better sway with the jury.

If he was bleeding, why couldn’t they use the same rule/concept as high sticking and give him a double minor?  Could they not also give him a misconduct for that non hockey play?

I could be mistaken but I don't believe it's possible to have a double-minor call for anything other than high-sticking penalties. Everything else is a minor, major or match penalty.

German royalty protocol reminds you to refer to his son as, "the Barron VonShitzinpants."

It's impossible we don't live inside a computer at this point.

I kind of wish Cohen would dial back on that a little bit. It was amusing for a bit but at some point, I think you see diminishing returns and it's really unnecessary.

  4. Reminded me of a great story Walton Goggins told on Seth Meyers a few weeks back when he was on promoting Fallout. Apparently, Goggins' dad is quite the character. This is what he basically wears every single day -- with TONS of turquoise.

So he gets noticed a lot. He carries around signed autograph pictures of himself that he gives out to people when they ask him who he is. In addition, he also has pictures of his son Walton, the true famous guy, and offers those as well. (The kicker is that Walton Jr's pics are signed by Walton Sr. I'll see if I can find the portion of the interview because it was the funniest, most endearing late-night talk show interview segment I've seen in many years.)

Found it -- hoping this starts about 6:32 where he says Baby Billy's character/look is partly inspired by his dad. If clip doesn't start there, scrub to 6:32.

  5. FBI has Ladybugs' phone after a hacker tried to trick him into thinking he was communicating with Chuck Schumer.

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/may/1/sen-lindsey-graham-reveals-potential-phone-hack-in/

    Quote

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that the FBI took possession of his phone after someone attempted to trick the South Carolina Republican into thinking he was communicating with Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer.

Mr. Graham revealed the potential hack in remarks at the Hill & Valley Forum on Capitol Hill, which is a gathering of top tech and government officials meeting in Washington to discuss artificial intelligence security.

Asked about spies targeting Silicon Valley and how AI labs should prepare themselves, Mr. Graham said people should be concerned and relayed his own brush with apparent hackers.

“My phone is in the hands of the FBI now,” Mr. Graham said at the forum. “So I get a message, I think, from Schumer, it ain’t from Schumer, and next thing you know, my phone’s, I don’t know what. Anything you can create apparently can be hacked.”

Mr. Graham did not identify who he suspected was responsible. Taylor Reidy, Mr. Graham‘s spokeswoman, said the Senate’s Sergeant at Arms was investigating.

The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The last time I ate a hamburger at McDonalds, I felt like I was being poisoned, and threw probably half of it away.

I will still stop in occasionally for a sausage biscuit with egg, though. I'm not sure why there is such a large disparity between their breakfast foods and other foods, but I digress.

I will always love the OG Egg McMuffin. No shame.

Speaking of, WTF were Miro and Harley doing on that play?

I'd have to go back and look. It was a weird hop but at that stage of the game with a 1-goal lead, you cannot get yourself in bad situations like that. It seems like Harley's play has dipped exponentially from the regular season to the postseason thus far, at least moreso than any other Star.

    Boeing Whistleblowers testifying.

    Dying too.

A whistleblower who accused Boeing of ignoring safety flaws in the 737 MAX airplanes has died.

Joshua Dean, a former Spirit AeroSystems quality auditor, claimed he was fired for flagging concerns about lax standards at the company’s manufacturing plant in Wichita, Kansas.

His sudden death at the age of 45 on Tuesday came after suffering from a fast-spreading infection, according to his family and lawyer.

Dean’s lawyer Brian Knowles said it is a ‘loss to the aviation community and the flying public’.

Knowles told Al Jazeera: ‘He possessed tremendous courage to stand up for what he felt was true and right and raised quality and safety issues.

‘Aviation companies should encourage and incentivise those that do raise these concerns.

‘Otherwise, safety and quality are truly not these companies’ top priorities.’

Boeing came under fire for potentially fatal defects in its 737 MAX series.

The aircraft was involved in near-disaster when a door panel fell off of Alaska Airlines Flight 1282, a 737 MAX 9, mid-flight in January.

It’s lucky no one died when a door panel blew off a Boeing airplane mid-flight (Picture: Reuters)

Passengers lost phones and clothes, and were nearly sucked out, when the panel was sucked out, causing the plane to depressurize.

Spirit AeroSystems had built the door panel.

In a complaint filed with the Federal Aviation Administration, Dean accused Spirit of ‘serious and gross’ quality failings at its production facility.

He claimed his concerns about a serious manufacturing defect had been ignored.

Dean later testified in a shareholder lawsuit against the company.

He believed he was fired from Spirit in April 2023 to discourage others from speaking out about concerns.

A spokesperson for the company said: ‘This sudden loss is stunning news here at Spirit and for his loved ones.’

Dean is the second Boeing whistleblower to die this year.

John Barnett, a 62-year-old who was also represented by Brian Knowles, was found dead with an apparently ‘self-inflicted’ gunshot wound in March.

He had been in the middle of a lawsuit against Boeing after suffering retaliation for exposing safety problems with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

But Dean’s death appears to be due to natural causes.

Writing on Facebook last Friday, his mother wrote that Dean was ‘fighting for his life’, having caught pneumonia and suffered a stroke after an MRSA infection.

He had previously been fit and healthy, according to The Seattle Times, which first reported his death.

Dean’s aunt Carol Parsons said: ‘It was brutal what he went through. Heartbreaking.’

  9. A few of us have picked on Otter for seemingly lackadaisical focus and/or letting in the occasional softy but he made a game-saving stop on Stephenson last night in the waning mins. Heard this stat this AM — he’s faced 56 shots in this series in 116 mins of 3rd period and overtime and has made all 56 stops.
