Pretty sure I've landed on Hudson House.  Not uptown, but I think it should check all the boxes for me.  Casual enough for mom and nice enough for wife.

But, Open Table is your friend if a reservation in a particular part of town is what you're looking for.

We love that place. They've got a "new" brunch menu too.

Do you work for Energy Ogre or Breeze Energy? How do you know the specifics of their arrangements? Not that it matters. Your implication was that Energy Ogre wouldn’t find me the lowest cost plan due to fee arrangements, but a third party REP analysis site confirmed there’s no cheaper plan out there for me than the one to which  Energy Ogre enrolled me.  If you think there’s some cheaper plan out there, please chime in.

One of the two Breeze Energy founders is a Texas Ex and a friend of a Shagster. Not sure what possible benefit he’d have to join Shaggy and chime in on the old Energy Ogre thread to counter similar assertions about Energy Ogre. If you have any specifics you can share other than “I am correct”, I’m all ears.

Actually, the aggy co-founder is one of my really good friends. He's the one that hopped on the Shag last year and contributed to our discussion. I believe he said Breeze does *NOT* pay commissions to Energy Ogre or anybody else but he couldn't say other companies didn't do that.

  3. Yeah, ours flipped a couple nights ago. My in-laws have newer receivers and theirs changed a couple weeks or months ago. I didn't know mine was going to switch. You aren't lying about the interface. It's just weird. It's sad when the print is too fucking small on a goddamn 55-inch TV.

Everything is better in Austin, right?

I actually found the weather in SA better than Dallas or Austin.  SA doesn't get 100+ temps day after day over the summer.  They'll get more humidity but it's not Houston, which has the worst weather in my opinion.  I'm not saying any of the markets has great weather but I'd actually take SA's over the others.  I actually thought Dallas was the hottest.  Not enough humidity to keep the temps down but still enough to give you a 115 degree heat index.

I've lived in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas and have spent many days in Corpus over the years since my parents are from there originally. Houston's weather is by the far the worst. Hell, it might be in the running for worst weather in the country. The weather in Austin/SA is virtually the same. While Dallas is hotter than all of the above, it's also the driest and (usually) has the least amount of mountain cedar (a plus in my book). I'd take Dallas weather for those reasons and we also get a little more taste of winter for the most part. But when it gets blazing-ass hot in Dallas, it can be pretty miserable.

So is Dodging Duck the only restaurant in Boerne or something?

Peggy's on the Green is in the Carriage House Hotel (not sure if that's the name) and it's fucking terrific. It's another Mark Bohanan joint (Bohanan's downtown).

    Scratch that, no rudys

The original Rudy's is in Leon Springs, which is between Boerne and SA (closer to the SA side).

Sucks Witten never got a ring but he needed to go.

I think we probably end up spreading out teams more and rely on blocking from the TE less now.

Yeah, this is bullshit. His production had seriously declined but he was a great locker room guy and decent enough in the run game. He was still good for 50 catches this year, which is pretty good production from a TE.

Can't blame him for the move, though. I still don't see it -- him as a compelling color guy, I mean. His weekly BaD Radio show is an immediate punchout every time.

Yeah I used to love that place.  Haven’t been in a few years.  Used to be one of my favorite little known places that was kinda under the radar.  It was very well decorated, had a great bar and menu and the service was always spot on.  Kind of an unassuming little place in one of the strip malls at about Beltline and Inwood.  And they always had a Frank Sinatra cover band which we thought was pretty cool.  Reasonable enough prices for that level (although I wouldn’t call it cheap) and just an overall good dinner experience top to bottom.

All that said, it’s kind of a haul from where I’m at now considering I drive by a handful of good to great places between my place and it.  And the extra cost for the Uber pretty much offsets the savings.  But I’d definitely go back in a heartbeat.

    Dinner menu with prices...

That's probably where we're going for Mother's Day Brunch. Mrs. C-Man's parents live out in Farmers Branch so it's close to them.

  8. On the other site -- it might've been Lando -- somebody discussed a steak house (they do much more than that) out in Addison or close to it that was pretty good and very reasonably priced. Was it Table 13? Does that ring a bell?

I see us looking at Vaccaro after May 12th.  I'd like to also see what Eric Reid wants but Jerrah won't do it because he's such a big pussy on the kneeling issue...... smh.

I'd love Reid but not a chance Jerry will bring him in. Still holding out hope on the Earl Thomas front, though. Probably a pipe dream but still a dream nonetheless.

Have only been there on weekends and the main drag was packed all day. Last time was their Oktoberfest so maybe that was busier than normal. Had lunch at that Dodging Ducks place, looking at a local real estate magazine while waiting  and apparently everyone likes it. Cool little town though I wonder how bad the commute into San Antonio is.

We ate lunch at Dodging Duck on our way out of town on Monday after the wedding. My parents are in Shavano Park (basically at Lockehill Selma and 1604) and that run up I-10 to Boerne was pretty shitty last April if you caught it at the wrong time in the late afternoon/early evening.

So it's come out that we offered the Seahawks a 3rd rounder for Earl but they never responded so we turned in the card for Gallup. Now it's also come out that Seattle actually called the Cowboys while Dallas was on the clock in the 2nd round and offered Earl for the 50th pick, and the Cowboys would have accepted if Connor Williams hadn't been available. So they really do value Williams very highly.

    https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2018/5/2/17310116/seahawks-offered-earl-thomas-but-cowboys-drafted-connor-williams-instead

Now maybe Norm will shut the fuck up about the Eagles "jumping in front of" the Cowboys to land TE Dallas Goedert. We wanted Williams all along. I'm glad the front office didn't let the Witten news skew what they were trying to accomplish in the draft.

  12. As many of you know, I grew up there (6-18) and then spent two years back down there just after graduating from UT. I left for good in 1998. SA has changed exponentially in the time since I left. And for the better. It's a great little town but I agree with midtown that it's still lacking a bit for the 22-30 single set probably. That part was terrible when I was working for KMOL and the Express News and had a few really good friends going to St. Mary's Law School. But that's changed quite a bit, I think. If my whole world wasn't in Dallas now, I'd consider moving back in a heartbeat -- or out to the Hill Country, a stone's throw from the north side of SA where I grew up.

Plus throwing fried chicken right in there with the barbecue? The only thing missing is the Golden Corral fudge fountain

Pecan Lodge is #2 in town behind Cattleack IMO and far from DAF status. The fried chicken is legit too.

Yeah, @C-Man and I are going (if I can get him to pull his tampon out) but it’s not until like June something.  First reservation we could get.  Will report back...if we can remember it.

Hey now, I resemble that remark. I'd love to join but $85 would be a waste of money on my wife.
