How is decrying terrorists and antisemites different than decrying scumbag Russian war criminals in the Ukraine thread?

The two conflicts involve one side believing the other does not have a right to exist. They commit war crimes or terrorist acts towards those ends. On one thread people rightfully say fuck Russia. On this thread someone says they're sick of all the anti-Semitism and people are like whoa whoa whoa CR bro.

I can understand mods wanting to keep that thread as clean as possible. I’m sure part of it is responding to reports. I don't get the average poster reporting posts like that though. I suspect there's CR reasons behind that.

I'll just stay out of that thread from now on.

I'd probably do the same thing if anyone posted a BLM tweet about the conflict in the Ukraine thread. Posts like that tend to turn into an argument about the person the tweet is from and ignore the content of the tweet. You are free to post those on the corresponding CR thread.

  2. It is a pain in the ass but I really really like the Ukraine and Israel threads in DT. They are an incredible amalgamation of different sources. We have a lot of great posters with knowledge of many different topics related to the thread that are great to read. I don't want to silence those voices.

I'm going to continue to moderate to keep out off topic shit as I want the thread to stay the way it is. I am going to continue to remove semi-political things as they lead to off topic discussions.

Earlier in the thread someone posted a tweet that seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Turns out the tweeter is a right wing nut job and so a discussion started about him. So I ended up having to clean that discussion up.

  3. Yeah, I don't think they'll do it, but it might be best for them.

Similar to Westlake, they will go to the big division of 6A unless Bowie finishes 4th in district, so if they would rather have a 6A-Div2 championship rather than losing to North Shore or Duncanville they should tank against Bowie.

    Big 12 Football Tiebreaking Procedures

    Two-Team Tie

    1. If two teams are tied for first place both teams will participate in the championship game and the winner of the head-to-head will be the #1 seed. If there is not a tie for first place, but two teams are tied for second place, the two-team tiebreaker policy will apply, and the winner will be the #2 seed and visiting team.

    1. If no game is played between the two tied teams or that game ends in a tie, the following tie-breaking procedures shall be applied.

    2. Win percentage against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on record in all games played within the Conference), proceeding through the standings.

    1. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s win percentage against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure) rather than the performance against individual tied teams.

    3. Win percentage against all common conference opponents.

    4. Combined win percentage in conference games of conference opponents (ie, strength of conference schedule).

    5. Total number of wins in a 12-game season. The following conditions will apply to the calculation of the total number of wins:

    1. Only one win against a team from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision or lower division will be counted annually.
    2. Any games that are exempted from counting against the annual maximum number of football contests per NCAA rules. (current Bylaw 17.10.5.2.1) shall not be included.

    6. Highest ranking by SportSource Analytics (team Rating Score metric) following the last weekend of regular-season games.

    7. Coin toss

    Multiple-Team Ties

In the event of a tie between more than two teams, the following procedures will be used. After one team has an advantage and is “seeded”, all remaining teams in the multiple-team tiebreaker will repeat the multiple-team tie-breaking procedure. If at any point the multiple-team tie is reduced to two teams, the two-team tie-breaking procedure will be applied.

    1. Head-to-head (best cumulative win percentage in games among the tied teams). If not, every tied team has played each other, go to step 2.

    2. Record against the next highest placed common opponent in the standings (based on record in all games played within the conference), proceeding through the standings.

    1. When arriving at another group of tied teams while comparing records, use each team’s win percentage against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to that group’s own tie-breaking procedure) rather than the performance against individual tied teams.

    3. Win percentage against all common conference opponents (must be common among all teams involved in the tie).

Looks like it would go down to rule 5, and they lost to Penn State so we're in in that case.

Also sets up an interesting scenario where OU might be better off to lose to WVA so they get to play them again in the championship game and duck us and win the big 12.

  5. Westlake up 34-0 on del valle at half

del valle hasn’t made it past their 30 yard line, no first downs

one play of the entire first half was on westlake’s side of the field. Del valle punted and Westlake returned it for a touchdown but got called for a block in the back, placing it on the Westlake 45. They scored 3 plays later.
