I think player recruiting is whats going to give Texas a good chance here. All the big time players in Houston are close so I do think Texas can find they’re way into this recruitment, just got to keep chipping away....

cypress has usually been a pipeline to A&M in past recruitments though

It depends on where in Cy - there's only about 12 high schools in Cypress Fairbanks. Vernon Broughton is from Cy Ridge. Christian Jones from Cy Woods.

That's a very short highlight HUDL but it shows a guy with a tremendous frame and some really nice natural athleticism. I worry about that body lean getting his chest out over his skis but he's clearly a project so if proves himself coachable that could likely be corrected, it doesn't look like a balance issue (a la Kenyon Green). The fact that Bloomgren is in on him is a good sign, imo.

At his size, I'd hope to see at least one pancake in his Hudl highlights. Dude needs to add some strength, and maybe have DHawk teach him how to punch a DL.

What is this argument about. Outside of Marshall, aggy has no shot at any WR Texas covets.

    Burton - nope

    Winfield - nope

    Stewart - nope

    Thompson - nope

    Coleman - nope

    Williams - nope

    Hudson - nope

I've read Texas is interested in 4 or 5.  Signing Winfield, Stewart, Coleman, Williams at WR and Brenen Thompson as an ATH isn't out of the question.

Maybe aggy signs Noah Thomas, goes all-in on Phaizon and Marshall, and then hopes to find a post-Covid late bloomer or two? Maybe some other  3-star?

Well, then that's what you should have asked.

He looks hilariously huge as a 6'4" RB, especially surrounded by 3A players. I doubt he sticks at RB or DB at the next level.

He might be like Ja'Tavion Sanders, and project as a TE or DE if he adds weight. Otherwise maybe he has the speed to play LB or Safety?

It's so hard to tell, since he can dominate 3A just by his size mismatch.

Two-fold. First, I'm not convinced he's accurate in a game setting, and that's not readily fixable. Second, if Card wins the job this year, he'll be entrenched as the starter meaning Maalik waits 2-3 years. If we secure another highly ranked qb in '23, the post-Card runner up will transfer and....see reason one.

I just watched some Joe Milton 7v7 as he's the floor comp, and I do feel better about where Murphy is now based on this weekend's tourney clips in comparison. Looking forward to game rep film. As a personality, as a recruiter, I love Murphy's skillset. As a passer, we'll see.

2012 - Connon Brewer, Jalen Overstreet

    2013 - None

    2014 - Jerrod Heard

    2015 - Matthew Merrick

    2016 - Shane Buechele

    2017 - Sam Ehlinger

    2018 - Cam Rising , Casey Thompson

    2019 - Roschon Johnson

    2020 - Hudson Card, Ja'Quinden Jackson

Statistically speaking, there's a better than average chance that he never plays significant snaps at QB. Over the last 9 years we've signed 11 QBs. Only 3 had any significant playing time at QB (Jerrod/Shane/Sam). Obviously one of Casey/Card will get lots of snaps this year.
