  1. Texas outgained Ohio State by 130 yards. I don’t think Ryan Day’s gameplan was to get 200 yards of total offense. Congrats to Ohio State for winning but acting like they had some superior gameplan and just whipped Texas is flat not true. Texas made the key mistake or two and Ohio State didn’t. Sark needs to be better in certain situations and he isn’t absolved of blame, but I had a feeling we might be in trouble when Arch skipped the ball to the receiver on the first play of the game when no one was within 10 yards.
  2. Must be the first coach in the sports history to ever lose a big game. No, I don’t understand. If you are letting 1 game influence your opinion, it was a shitty opinion to begin with.
  3. That’s even more reason to go for it. You are unlikely to ever get a better chance than the ball at the 1 foot line. And if you kick a FG, you need a TD anyway for it to truly matter. There is no way anyone can say with a serious face we should have kicked a field goal from the 1 foot line with what we had shown offensively up to that point.
  4. 4th and 4 from the 25 in the first quarter is the exact same as 4th and 1 from the 1 foot line down 7-0.
  5. There are probably 50 different coaching things you can critique about that game. Going for it on 4th down in the 3rd quarter from the 1 foot line when you haven’t shown any ability to get close to end zone consistently isn’t one. That is a move any other coach in America would make. You are going to have to score a TD at some point and you have the ball at the 1 foot line. Anybody suggesting a FG there with how the game had played out to that point is a moron.
  6. Feels pretty useless to use a redshirt on a guy who is likely not sticking around in college to play football for 5 years. I think you try to see if he can become a special teams guy this year.
  7. I may be misremembering, but I don't think anyone really thought of Collins and Broughton as great run-stuffing guys heading into last year. They took the next step in their development and in Collins' instance, finally put everything together that he had flashed his whole career. Like you said, I think the depth is much better this year and we have guys like Brevard who specialize in clogging up running games between the tackles.
  8. 1st and 10- Snap infraction (in honor of Jake Majors) 1st and 15- Inside handoff to Wisner for 3 yards 2nd and 12- The spin around no-look screen pass that makes everyone's buttholes pucker. Incomplete 3rd and 12- DB slips and falls, Livingstone is wide open running down the seam!!!!! drop. Great punt to pin Ohio State at their 25
  9. Not really. It’s all guessing. Patricia hasn’t coached in college since he was a GA at Syracuse in 2003. Wadlington has been saying we need to watch Steve Belichick stuff from last year at Washington but that could also be a total waste of time if the rest of the Ohio State defensive staff forces Patricia to run stuff they are familiar with like they tried to do with Knowles last year. Knowles finally won the battle but it apparently caused a lot of staff friction.
  10. The outcome of this season probably isn't hinging on the performance of our left guard, but it would have been nice if the coaches used the 3 years of data points they had on Neto to make an informed decision on whether an outside option needed to be pursued instead of realizing a few weeks before the first game that we might be in trouble.
  11. Tom Herman tried this in 2018 and 2019 at receiver
  12. It’ll be interesting to see the progress of guys on the OL in mid October compared to Saturday. Especially dudes like Baker who are getting their first real action in college. I also think the 3 games after Ohio State will be important for ironing out the run game since we like to run so many different concepts. It’s Surly so I’m sure we will crown them the greatest ever or complete busts by Saturday afternoon, but guys are allowed to get better. I’m reminded of the 2023 opener when they looked like total garbage against Rice then were stonewalling Dallas Turner and Will Anderson the following week and didn’t have many problems the rest of the season.
