  1. 100%. This is also a much more challenging schedule than we've seen in some previous seasons. The extra conference games mean the layup weekends against the Manhattan-type teams disappear. We finished with a top 25 SOS last year but should be easily inside the top 20 this year. It should give us more wiggle room than the standard 'you need to win 40 games to host' argument.
  2. This team should be competing at the top of the conference and be in a position to make a super-regional. Pretty much all you can ask for every year. Sometimes the ball takes a funny bounce (or gets lost in the lights) in the postseason that is out of your control. You are right though, this is one of the better freshman classes we've had in a while and it will interesting to watch them grow. We are starting to get a different type of athlete to campus compared to some of our previous teams. Think I saw something the other day that we have 6 guys listed at over 6'5 on the roster.
  3. I think Werchan is ahead of Cummings in the pecking order but both may profile more to LF/RF than CF defensively. I bet Werchan sees some AB's early in the season.
  4. Thomas 1B, Powell 3B, Gasparino RF, Brown LF, SS Flores, 2B O'Dowd, DH Sanders/Belyeu, C Galvan, CF Farmer That is my lineup prediction. Not sure they would go 3 consecutive lefties at the top of the order so had to find someone to put between them.
  5. RB we offered a few weeks ago https://www.on3.com/db/rickey-stewart-jr-152172/
  6. Makes sense. Originally was thinking Sterlin Gilbert but realized that was Gideon with him, not Fenves.
  7. Sometimes I forget ESPN even does rankings. I’m assuming they just let an intern randomly place guys and move them up and down throughout the cycle?
  8. All aboard the Tommy Farmer train. Elite elite speed.
  9. Damnit man. Running through lineups in my head we could see now and every one is missing a middle of the order bat that would be Storm. There is some pressure now on a guy like Flores to be ready to hit 5th or 6th. Gasparino probably won’t be able to dip his toe in the water either.
  10. I would definitely shift Thomas back to 1B now and roll with Tommy Farmer in CF to start the season. Nik Sanders could be another option at 1B but the defense is a question mark. Might be better suited for DH to ease him in.
  11. Rigney- Hurt, medically retired Santos- Hurt, out for the season Mercer- Hurt, out for the season Storm- Giving up baseball Sigh.
  12. The head coach should be making all staff hires. Input from coordinators is fine, but outsourcing hiring decisions to them shouldn't be happening.
  13. Weaver has played starter-level minutes in the last 3 games (28, 25, 26). I am about as anti-Horton as one can be but it's obvious at this point that he will have to play 15 minutes a night. Need to figure out if those minutes are best served as a starter or as a 6th man where he was awful earlier in the season.
  14. Last year was 18.4 attempts per game. This year attempting 17.7 per game. 74.8% last year. 73.3% so far this year.
  15. It’s like last night when I read that rebounding is all about heart and effort. If that’s the case then why is our offensive rebounding and total rebounding significantly better than last year in pretty much every metric? Frustrstion leads to some wild takes. Like complaining about offense and rebounding when this team goes through stretches where they couldn’t stop a cold.
  16. Sorry. Didn’t mean to point that we put the ball in the basket at a more efficient rate than last years team. I’ll go back to watching videos of people throwing darts at a picture of Haith.
  17. FG%, 3point%, AdjO, offensive rebound % and offensive efficiency all currently rank better than last years team.
  18. This is a hard-headed take they tell kids in middle school. Rebounding is a whole lot more than coaching and basketball IQ.
  19. The reason Houston will get tripped up in the tournament is because the offensive stretch they are currently in happens far too often and someone will get hot against their defense.
  20. I mean this in the nicest way possible but if Horton got like a cramp right before the game and couldn’t play, we would be up by 6-8 points.
  21. Amazing what happens when you sit down and defend for 3-4 possessions in a row.
