  1. Yeah, throwing deep on 2nd and 4 with 6 minutes left and an 8-point need ain't protection mode. Neither is 3 straight passes out of the 2-minute warning when we are already in FG range (maybe I should adjust my expectations of what FG range is moving forward).
  2. Fong with a portal update that mentions Texas a few times. Texas A&M WR Noah Thomas Sources tell On3’s Steve Wiltfong and I expect Miami, Texas and Georgia to be in the mix for wide receiver Noah Thomas. The Aggies are doing everything they can to keep Thomas in the fold. USC WR Zachariah Branch Miami is currently hosting USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch and his brother, Zion, on a visit, a source tells On3’s Steve Wiltfong. The brothers have previously visited Georgia and Arizona State. Tennessee and Texas have also entered the mix. Tennessee WR Squirrel White Tennessee wide receiver Squirrel White is currently visiting Florida State, a source tells On3. It is White’s first visit since entering the transfer portal. Sources previously told On3 that White wants to play closer to home, and Florida State is expecting competition to land the SEC transfer. Arizona CB Tacario Davis Scheduled to visit Washington this week, a source tells On3 that Michigan, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas are all in the mix for Tacario Davis. Nebraska WR Isaiah Neyor After signing with Louisville on Wednesday night and later had the paperwork pulled, sources tell On3 that Isaiah Neyor is expected to be on campus on Thursday. The Cardinals have the momentum in this recruitment. Washington State DT David Gusta David Gusta will be at Texas A&M on Thursday, he tells On3’s Steve Wiltfong. From there he’s planning on getting to Kentucky and Tennessee. Florida State WR Malik Benson Tennessee and Oregon are preparing to host Florida State transfer wide receiver Malik Benson. He tells On3 he plans to visit the schools this weekend. Sources tell On3 that Kansas State is still in the mix for Benson. Tennessee defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins Jayson Jenkins is visiting Florida State on Thursday. He also has visited lined up to North Carolina and Texas Tech. Connecticut WR Skyler Bell Michigan recently had on campus Skyler Bell on campus and things appear to be trending the right way for Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines. Wisconsin RB Tawee Walker Tawee Walker is working on scheduling visits to Georgia and Cincinnati in the near future, his agent tells On3. South Dakota State RB Angel Johnson Sources tell On3 that Angel Johnson has received interest from Louisville, Tennessee and Washington State. He produced 1,134 all-purpose yards and 5 touchdowns for the Jackrabbits this season. Auburn is also expected to make a run at Johnson. Auburn defensive lineman TJ Lindsey TJ Lindsey is coming off a Purdue visit and is scheduled to arrive at Nebraska on Friday. Iowa State defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim Tyler Onyedim is currently at Texas A&M. The Aggies are battling Notre Dame, SMU and Texas for him, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.
  3. It’s been discussed at length how Ewers appears to be much more comfortable throwing outside the numbers than the middle of the field into more traffic.
  4. One team had to run 97 plays to get over 500 yards. The other had multiple possessions stolen on a punt return TD and an idiotic 1-play safety. This game goes a whole lot deeper than total yardage. Both the good and the bad.
  5. Our previous 5 runs before the pass went for 6, 1, 3, 4, 0. Our longest RB run of the day was 7 yards. Quinn Ewers had our second longest run. Look, the pass wasn’t the correct call in hindsight but we weren’t exactly running at will and I’m sure he was expect his 3rd year starter to not throw into double coverage.
  6. The Kentucky game where we ran the ball 15 straight times on our final possession?
  7. Every fan of every team thinks their coach isn’t a good gameday coach outside of maybe Kirby. Lanning is too aggressive, Day turtles, the list goes on and on. I enjoyed Herman’s gameday coaching when he green lighted a zero blitz on 3rd and 17 against LSU. Or when he would kick 19 yard field goals. Or when we allowed Tech, Kansas, Tulsa (!), Kansas State and Baylor to erase sizable first half leads in 2018. Or when he came out in the 2019 and 2020 OU games running bubble screens and HB swing passes.
  8. I didn’t like throwing deep on the 2nd and 4 with 6 minutes left but I also wonder if Bond was the primary read that play. They had Golden coming on an over route that looked open on TV. I also would have hoped our 3rd year starting QB would know risking throws into double coverage in that spot is ridiculous. Hell, a sack would have been better. Ewers made the plays when we needed him though.
  9. No they didn’t. 40 of the 510 came in OT. It took 97 plays and OT to get to 510 yards.
  10. Sometimes, I am truly amazed that there are living, breathing humans typing stuff like this. It kind of worries me, actually.
  11. What is your definition of a top tier offense? I just want to know what you are judging it off of. Points per game? Yards per game? Yards per play? SP+ ranking? Eyeball test?
  12. This is a really weird way to look at things. If he transfers and plays better next year it will probably be because he didn’t get hurt for the 5th straight season and has started 40 college games. We have 20 years of data points on Sarkisian’s offense and QB development. We are a very good offense with Quinn Ewers. I guess the indictment of the offense would be we have….a very good offense? Is it an indictment of his QB development that another program paid Ewers $6 million to come play for them, allowing us to start a guy named Arch Manning? He probably doesn’t throw the ball much because he’s played 7 non-garbage time snaps since September.
  13. This seems out of LF. Spiegelman posted on rivals he put in a pick for Texas over UGA. Gaad just posted his junior year hudl http://www.hudl.com/v/2RMnk4
  14. A few people have mentioned the Washington State DT that entered the portal several weeks ago. Pete Nakos posted an update on him: Washington State DL David Gusta David Gusta is the No. 2 ranked player in the Transfer Portal at his position per the On3 Industry. According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, he’s weighing a return to Washington State or visiting Oklahoma State
  15. The other interviews are solid, but hearing Tashard Choice talk at the beginning was awesome. You can see why he is such a good recruiter.
  16. I’d have to search to find the exact quote but Banks said something today about how they haven’t felt the need to take as many risks this year with special teams. They definitely haven’t been as aggressive going after punts. Maybe that truly was the Keilan Robinson show the last 3 years.
  17. Mercer is just now about 12 months removed from surgery so it won’t surprise me if he is a little behind when things get started. I agree with what you said about Rodriguez and I would place a bet that he starts as things stand today. The fact he switch hits brings a lot more versatility to the lineup that really only has 2 lefties right now (Belyeu and Winfield). I also think they want Rodriguez to be their SS in 2026 so getting his feet wet will be a plus. I heard Schuessler was the best hitter on the team during the fall. I am wondering if the staff sees Riojas in a similar light as how they used Aschenbeck at A&M. They probably could have started Aschenbeck, but having him available to give you several multiple inning outings a week really maximized his impact. He could come in the 5th inning or the 9th and the game was pretty much over.
  18. LHP Cooper Powell, OF Seth Werchan, LHP Brandon Bertsch, OF Casey Cummings, and 1B Walker Polk are no longer on the roster as they trim things down before practice starts in a few weeks. None of them are super surprising.
  19. IIRC he got hurt on his lone punt against Mississippi State. He wasn't ready off the bye, so he missed OU and came back against Georgia, but it sounds like he was never 100%.
  20. Their loss to Cincy was bad, but Leavitt was hurt and Jeff Sims is one of the worst backups in P5 football. They outgained Tech but got down 14-0 early and went 0-3 on 4th down and couldn't claw all the way back.
  21. It is. I found my post from last year. That one was the path to 10-8 and we finished 9-9 We didn't sweep WVU but swept OU to make up for it. We hit what was needed in the final two groups but the stupid loss to UCF kept us from 10-8.
  22. I did a similar post last year before conference play. Path to 9 conference wins: Must win 3 of 4 against the bottom of the league (3)- Missouri, at South Carolina, at LSU, at Vandy Need to go 4-3 against the homes and homes we have + Georgia (4): OU x2, Arkansas x2, A&M x2, Georgia Split the road games at Mississippi schools (1)- at Miss State, at Ole Miss Pray we get hot from 3 and steal one as a big underdog (1)- Auburn, Tennessee, at Florida, Bama, Kentucky
  23. The 5 day extension applies to teams in normal bowl games as well, so it’s a lot more than 7 teams.
  24. Gerry made a comment this morning that Cam Williams has been dealing with a lingering knee/leg issue prior to getting rolled up on against Clemson. He made it sound like Williams was already set to have some sort of clean up procedure done after the season.
