Meh, if you eat at Rudy's on the regular you know they call their chopped beef "spicy chop".  I had one the other day on a road trip.  Not a bad sandwich for under $10.

spicy chop breakfast tacos also do ya just fine

It was always funny when OSU won that Should've Been a Cowboy was played...

Core childhood rage memory is my team at the time (49ers) losing to my stepdad's team (Cowboys) in the NFC title game and laying on my bed staring at my ceiling devastated and him coming in and belting out "Shoulda been a Cowboy..." Came close to a Menendez situation.

If returning the cart is scary, just park near the corral. That's what I do: thread the needle between being a good citizen and being lazy by planning ahead.

And if there are so many cars in the lot that you can't, then it isn't a vacant crime scene waiting to happen.

  4. Yeah that all makes sense. And yep, getting quartered is brutal, but as the SPR gets smaller, sometimes gotta eat that turd. Say the pot is 250 and you have 200 behind. If you fold, you have 200.  If you call allin headsup and get quartered, you have 225. And of course sometimes we think we are getting quartered but we either get lucky or our opponent was stupid.

Def agree that I don't wanna get it in with 5 low cards. My thought was just with AAJT3 that we will have good equity on so many boards, esp if we have nut suits. Or AA542, etc.

Even this hand is only a 60-40 against most hands. I'd rather see the flop and have an easy choice then get a K72 or 996 flop and have to make a decision on calling his pot bet.

I guess that was going to be my followup, which flops are bad enough that with that much in pre we think we don't have equity against his range to continue?  Paired ones with only one low card, monotone ones probably, though how often does he have that flush, and if we can get low, it can still be worth it depending how much went in pre vs left behind. I'm def not at all a Big O expert, was def an honest question, not a "this is a mistake" question haha.

Went down to bullets last night to play big o cash. They run it every Tuesday and Thursday.

I knew almost everyone at the table. One total donk, two nits, one decent player and one guy who I remember playing with a long time ago but didn’t really remember how he played, but he had 2k in front of him so I assumed he was pretty good, we’ll call him Mike.
Never managed to get in good against the donk, Mike was to my left and kept raising like crazy and after seeing what he was playing figured out he wasn’t very good. Built my stack from $300 to $400. Other good player gives Mike a huge gummy. An hour later Mike is starting to have issues reading the board and figuring out the lows.

Got AsKcQsQd3c, potted per flop, Mike repots, a couple others and I call.

Flop is JsTs2x. I pot, Mike repots, I’m all in for $400, he insta calls. I figure I’m up against a set, he turns over KQ952 rainbow.  I’m ahead and just need to avoid an 8. Next card is 4s and he’s drawing dead for the high and needs an A or 3 to get the low but river is a 5 and I scoop a $900 pot.

A few hands later i get AAJT2, one of the best starting hands you can get, I pot preflop, Mike repots and we’re heads up. Flop is AK8. I pot, he calls. Turn is a K, I bet $100, he thinks for a bit and calls. There’s no way he’s got kings, river is a J, I bet another $100 and he quickly calls. I show the aces and he mucks, boom, another $500+ pot.  That was pretty much the peak, ended up cashing for $1284 after buying in for $300.

Going to try to get down there every Thursday I can.

Any reason we aren't repotting the AAJT2 vs Mike? Just trapping? Feels like guys like that are never repot-folding, and we def have big equity edge there. Nice hands!

BTN (150k) opens to 10k. I jam ATo in BB and he snaps with K3s?

Flop A and turn another, full double up

You still had like 18 bigs here? Gross! You'll have to teach me how to fade the "snap with hand that is clearly never winning" play.

  8. If you don't like sauce, you just, you know, don't eat sauce. People who insist on trumpeting the above are trying to make sure everyone else knows how cool and "BBQ PURIST" they are or whatever.

I don’t know what the fuck “virtue signaling” in bbq is, but otherwise agree.

People who make a big point of how they would NEVER EVER eat sauce and any plate shown with sauce or anyone having sauce with Q is some heathen akin to putting ketchup on a $100 bone-in tomahawk ribeye.

  10. Leaving your opponent pinned inside their own 3 is worth as many expected points as making a FG. That's why, barring very limited situations like it's the end of a half or obv the end of a game and you are down 3 or less or tied, you should go for all 4th downs inside the 3. The BEST case for kicking is equal to the WORST case going for it.

I can’t afford the HEB brand personal lubricant. I have to roll with the Hill Country Fare version.

I hear the Mi Tienda version has a bit of a kick to it.

They don't bother making the Mi Tienda version condom-compatible, so that helps.

  12. Will be in Vegas in a couple of weeks, BYU-Texas weekend. Staying at Venetian, but it looks like the William Hill Sportsbook at venetian doesn't get very great reviews.
I haven't done a CFB sportsbook day in Vegas in a few years. My default would be to get over to MGM Grand by 1230 and watch there. I don't know if they still have the bar off to the back left of the sportsbook, but I remember a couple of times pounding giant ass beers there for relatively cheap and talking CFB with fellow degenerates all day. Had a good time there.
What say the experts here? Is there a can't miss sports bar around the strip that I should be going to instead?  I'd be ok with sports bar over sports book, especially if there might actually be some women to look at (there are usually zero in any sports book) but I also don't want to waste time at some bullshit place that doesn't know how to work their TVs on a game day. I think I'm likely to be solo at this time because I'm not traveling with any other Horns and they'll probably be sleeping in on Saturday anyway. So I don't need a place where I can book a private booth or cabana or anything like that.

We watched a game at Blondie’s in the Miracle Mile shops, it opened early, food was solid, good specials, decent crowd.

I use my golf app to help find my golf balls. I know my distances for clubs so if I hit an errant shot, I trace my yardages on my phone until I'm around that yardage of the club.

Yep, same!  It helps a lot. But sometimes it takes a weird bounce or is in some trees and you aren't sure where/if it hit one. It doesn't help that I'm not particularly good haha.

  14. #PushCartMafia but can't do it when it's 100+. Really enjoyed walking the courses at Bandon, walking really lets you take in the course more, evaluate the green as you come in, and process your shots. Only time I hate it (other than balls hot) is when you are trying to find a ball, can cover so much more ground faster in a cart.

Definitely was.  Drove up and parked right outside gate 5 for $40 at 715am.  Made a bee line out of that MF’er after the game and got out of there pretty easily. Disclaimer:  I’m 51 and don’t drink like I used to, so the whole alcohol factor is a non issue.  I had three whole beers at the fair and game.

Help me understand the benefit of parking outside Gate 5 for $40 instead of inside for $20.

It’s not the “same error” because I don’t assume it fails. I acknowledge that it’s a possibility.

Failing to get it at some point ends the game, but you’ve kept your team in the game until/if you fail on the second one.

I’d rather not play out the clock knowing I can’t win any earlier than is necessary.

This trades actual win equity for emotions and feelings of "being in the game."  Coaches do this all the time to "keep the game alive" or delay the "play of the game" even when to their huge detriment. OU kicked a FG on 4th and 1 in the 2018 Rose Bowl down 3 in OT. It's VERY obvious that 2018 OU would MUCH rather the game come down to that offense gaining 1 yard and then converting 1st and goal to win the game vs needing the 2018 OU defense to stop UGA on a short field. Plus in the next OT, OU was going to go first, which is also a detriment. But they kicked, b/c going for it means THE GAME IS ON THE LINE RIGHT NOW, even though their win equity was DRASTICALLY higher to go.
