  1. I dont know if you are still planning your trip but here is my advice...The bus is easy and cheaper, but just be aware there may be extra travel time because you have to drop some people off at hotels and then stop to switch over to a new bus to get to city center. A lot of people hit the Blue Lagoon on their way to or from the airport, so it is pretty easy. If you land at 5AM, the best way to go to Blue Lagoon is if you buy tickets early and show up when it opens (7AM) because it is not crowded yet. Honestly, you may be able to do both Blue Lagoon and a little bit of Reykjavik if you watch your time closely. Reykjavik is a smaller and interesting city, but mostly what I remember about Iceland are the tours/sites outside of the city. So, IMO, if you just do the Blue Lagoon you wont be missing out on too much, you will just have to go back again! One more thing, I dont know what the luggage situation is, but the Blue Lagoon does have storage if you cant check in/leave your bags at the airport.
  2. Just read, the third rescue mission started about 12:15am CST. Who is left? 4 kids + 1 coach and there are also 3 Thai SEALS + 1 Army Medic who have stayed with the team since they were found. Apparently the goal is that all 9 come out today after 12 hours of solid rain. Fingers crossed!
  3. I have no legitimate source, but this is what I have read from local reporters (mostly on Twitter): The original plan was strongest out first; however the day of the rescue, the Aussie doc/diver made the call to send out the weakest first. The press conference also hints that at least one of the first boys rescued was unconscious, because they specified that all 4 boys rescued second were strong and "all conscious". I keep forgetting that none of the boys even knew how to swim! Honestly, I still beilieve they have to be drugged at least a little bit, less stress and less oxygen output. Also, I actually think the coach (who is still believed to be in the cave) will be the hardest rescue of all, since he is bigger than the other boys and is weaker from giving away all his food. The community seems to not be putting any blame on either the boys or the coach, and some of the boys schoolmates are quoted saying they have explored much deeper from where the boys currently are.
  4. I posted this in the other thread CWS thread, but figured I would cover all the bases - updated bracket availiable https://i.turner.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/external/gametool/brackets/baseball_d1_2018.pdf
  5. looks like they have updated the printable bracket online with date and times through game 12 https://i.turner.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/external/gametool/brackets/baseball_d1_2018.pdf
  6. This was a great series to watch, and I am pleasantly surprised we are going to Omaha (personally I think Augie has something to do with it 🤘). Overall, I think pitching held up for the most part, and our at bats improved throughout the weekend. The only thing is I hope Henley's performance today doesn't mess with his mental game in Omaha.
  7. Intellegence Matters with the former acting Director of the CIA Michael Morell. -- I have always been interested in the intellegence community, and have really enjoyed conversations and explanations about complex security issues from people who are knowledgable about the various moving parts. It can sometimes get political, but I think he is pretty good about inviting people from both sides of the aisle. However, if you dont listen to any other episode, everyone should take a listen to the January 9th, Secret Artifacts: A journey through the worlds most secretive museum. The episode discusses various artifacts held at the CIA, which are not open to public viewing, and it was by far one of the most interesting podcast episodes I have listened to. [availiable here: https://www.thecipherbrief.com/podcasts/intelligence-matters or here: https://intelligencematters.libsyn.com/secret-artifacts-a-journey-through-the-worlds-most-secretive-museum; unfortunately, it seems to be only available online after it recently changed "owners".]
  8. Oops, photo noob. Here is my retry:
  9. I cant believe it has been over a year since I posted on my favorite thread. Let me reintroduce Ellie, my lab mix. Unfortunately, I have a few questions related to parvo exposure: tl;dr - my vaccinated 2.5 yr. old dog was exposed to parvo Wednesday (via roommates 11 week old pup), so I’m wondering whether there is anything I need to do at this point & how much disinfecting needs to happen? My roommate acted like the pup’s vet said we didn’t need to do anything, but after researching, a lot of articles recommended throwing away all porous objects - including toys, beds, bones, collars, leashes. Plus, of course bleach is basically the only thing that kills the virus, and our carpet and laminate can’t be bleached. So has anyone previously dealt with parvo and have advice? I am calling my vet later, but sometimes they give advice based on the worst case scenario that costs mucho dinero. I also know I will be stuck with all the required cleaning, but at least it will be done right.
  10. If I remember correctly it was around 4.5 hours from Kings Cross to Edinburgh. It was a beautiful trip, and somewhat easier than navigating Heathrow more than necessary. Either way, I think that it would be possible to hit London, Edinburgh, and some of the Highlands (depending on how many sites you want to see).
  11. I think there is plenty to keep you busy, and exploring the Alps would probably be more relaxing than staying in a city for a full week. I went at the end of June a few years ago, and this is what we did in or near Munich/Saltzburg/the Alps, plus how long we were there - hope this is helpful: Munich - Dachu, BMW Museum, Hofbrauhaus, and day trip to Rothenberg (there for about 2.5 days) Saltzburg - Sound of Music Tour, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mozart's Birthplace, and day trip to Berchtesgaden Salt Mine (there for about a 1.5 days) Annaberg, Austria - white water rafting, hiking, and mostly relaxing (there for about 2 days) - I believe there are a lot of little ski towns that have activities similar to what you would find in Colorado in the summer. However, if you do decide to go to London, it is pretty easy to take a train to Scotland, which has been the favorite place I have visited.
