  1. Back to the taco trucks discussion.  So as it turns out, the group I was with didn't have the stomach capacity to truly do the taco mile.  We did sample 4 trucks by the bounce place and all of them were delicious, however to me the star of the show was the tlayuda at the Oaxacan truck.  Pastor tacos at the truck in the back were a close second.

We are going to have to go back for a round two at the truck cluster down closer to rundberg.  I will report back.

Well, again, I think you're going to have to specify which "incompetent lawyers" you refer to.  Anecdotes aren't usually useful, but I can't think of too many hazardous lawyers that don't catch a case pretty quickly.

Those who do dirty by their clients get rousted with great regularity.

Those that aren't much good at what they do get shut down economically without doing too much harm to people.

And theres loads of shitty lawyers facing off against other shitty lawyers every day in the family courts in low stakes divorces and related matters.

I'm not sure I'd say Sidney Powell is incompetent per se.  She used to have quite a solid appellate practice and was well respected, according to DDDad and what I can figure out.  She's a fairly special case I can't really come up with any historical parallel for.

What keeps coming to my mind is that original lawyer of that guy in Maryland that just got released after serving 20+ years in prison for murdering his girlfriend in high school.  Can't remember his name or his original lawyer's name (it was the first season of the podcast Serial), but she had a good reputation when she was hired, but ended up getting disbarred because of a general decline in her ability to effectively lawyer.  Then she died.

Wait, what?  Gay men can't give blood?

Until recently, a gay man could only give blood as long as they never had sex with a man after 1982.  They recently changed it.  Now I could give blood, but I'd have to abstain from sex for 3 months first.  So yeah, gay men with a sex life still can't give blood.

in other news, now there’s an attempt to exclude the vaccinated from donating blood. What could go wrong?.

A bill to ban donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccination from giving blood will “decimate” blood supply in Montana and leave patients at risk of even death, said opponents of House Bill 645”

Woo, now I can be excluded for 2 reasons.  I've been banned from giving blood since I was 12 years old because that's when I discovered the joys of playing with other people's dicks.

  5. If it's unbiblical, then make damn sure you don't put that shit on in your church.  That doesn't have anything at all to do with it going on outside your church.  Fuck off, man.

If you drive on N. Lamar between 183 and Rundberg on a Saturday night, there are probably 10-15 different taco trucks/trailers set up, with bright colored lights, big seating areas, music playing, and folks eating and having a good time.  For years I've wanted to do a "progressive taco truck crawl" there.  Pick like 5-6, stopping to get a taco at each one, mixing it up to get the specialty of the house if they have one.  Carnitas one place, tripas another, maybe little mexico city street tacos of al pastor at another.  That's the good stuff.

I have successfully done this in Oaxaca.  I have also recently discovered this plethora of trucks in north Austin.  We already have the group together to make this happen, we have just been waiting for a weekend when the weather is nice and we're all available.  I expect this to happen in the next 3-5 weeks.  I'll report back.

Also, I have added Yaka Mein to my list for next time I go to New Orleans.

Hint: It's not for titties.  My daughter was a tri-delt at the time I first signed on to shaggy.

I don't know what tri-delts are supposed to look like at other schools, but I know what they were supposed to look like at UT in the early 90's.  Titty Dad works just fine.

Atlanta one of the most dangerous cities in the world? 1 out of how many? Not 1 out of 54.

Good lord, how many deaths could be avoided in Mexico if we legalized drugs?  They have 10 of the top 11 deadliest cities in the world.  That's insane.

Hey, #41 in "Education" doesn't come with ace spelling skills.

Also, it doesn't look like they teach their cleaners how to get giant pit stains out of the arms of the dress.  Not sure what the hell is going on with that huge ass stain on her arm.  I know it wasn't because someone came on the dress.

  9. Has the locker room really changed that much since the 80’s?  I don’t remember a single soul who was trying to hang out naked in the locker room when I was in school. I would’ve known if it was happening then because I was definitely looking back then.

But, I mean, you've let yourself go all the hell since then, right?  Don't be holding yourself out as better than us.

Well not right this second but if it makes you feel better, in my adult life I have fluctuated between 180 and 270. I’m sitting around 215 right now and was getting back on the exercise and healthyish eating kick when a death in the family fucked that all up. So I guess I’ll be here for a bit. Hopefully that means I’m still eligible to grab a drink with you old people.

Interesting read that contrasts the current H5N1 outbreak with SARS-COV-2 in the context of the discussion of spillover vs. other origin explanations.

If I'm reading this right, and I could be wrong, but it seems to me he's making the case that this was a virus that was developed in a lab.  Ok.  Let's assume that's true.  What the rest of the world now knows is that the best way to kill off large swaths of Americans without ever committing a single soldier to hand to hand combat is to simply release a genetically engineered virus into the US while a Democrat is President (or a really really stupid Republican) and you'll be able to kill off all kinds of Americans.  Republicans won't believe a Democrat telling them to protect themselves (or later, to vaccinate), and a really really stupid Republican will fan those flames instead of counseling the country to be safe with masks (and later, vaccines).  Assuming this was engineered in a lab, the test case has now been shown to be effective.  So get ready, a well timed state sponsored bio-weapon is likely what's going to kill all your Republican relatives that don't find some other way to die before it happens.

And what I continue to be confused by is why the people yelling the most loudly about this being a chinese developed virus refuse to take any precautions against that virus.  If China was sending troops with guns to your door, would you protect yourself, or would you try to pretend like they didn't exist? I'd expect you to get out your guns and shoot back.  The way you shoot back against a bio weapon is you protect yourself from being a target of that weapon and develop vaccines for eradication. It's the same god damned thing, yet all our "patriots" are over here trying to pretend that COVID was developed in a lab and therefore we should hate the Chinese, and also that it doesn't exist, so no one should be taking any precautions to avoid it, all at the same time.  People are so fucking stupid.

As for me, I've used my bullets (current on vaccination/booster) and I'm living my life.  If you didn't use your own bullets to protect yourself and you get killed by this at this point, you are a stupid motherfucker and that's on you.

Also, Spanky, sorry to hear you are going through it.  Hope you make a quick and full recovery, regardless of whether you had an adverse vaccine reaction or whether it's just a coincidence.

I agree and think Troph and anyone else that is LGBT+ should speak out if they do desire. I’m just saying, hell will freeze over before people like Ana, Poe and Dal will change their mind, let alone their vote. I’m sorry, but that isn’t happening. But for those not tethered by party allegiance and feed off hate, yeah, people speaking up is very helpful for others.

I would counter this.  Most of the people on this thread that have been around since the Hornfans days were at one time against marriage equality for the gays.  I know this, because I was in there every day having conversations with a bunch of people I never thought would change their minds.  But I did it anyway because it was important to me.  Now 99% of the posters on this thread that were posting back then (and who have kept the same usernames) have completely switched.  These same people who were prolific posters on a mostly conservative Hornfans politics board are still here and still posting, while a bunch of dumbasses call them liberal, all because they eventually saw that what they were arguing for was more government while they claimed to be against large government.  They didn't leave their conservative ideology behind, Republicans left conservative ideology behind.  I'm not going to sit here and say that I changed a single mind, but I am going to say that continuing to make the argument in different ways over and over again (with lots of help from near and far along the way from others in the community) absolutely helped some of those people to see a perspective they hadn't considered before, and they made better decisions about their stance based on having that expanded perspective.

So my advice, when your argument is rooted in reason, and is rooted in the freedom of the individual to live their life without government interference, you will find allies here, some of them may be a little slower to the party, but they'll get there.
