  1. Pretty much this. I own my shit, pun intended. Exception would be telling an offcolor joke at family gathering when home for the 10 days after Marine boot camp. My grandmother, who hosted dinner and whom I also tremendously respected as our matrirch, didn't say anything, but just looked at me and didn't laugh. I wanted to die. Can we just hit rewind and take my idiocy back? Nope. You left no doubt that you are a crass piece of shit with 0% awareness. I practically wanted to go out back and commit seppuku.
  2. It's all on them, if we are going there. As a parent, we still have more desirable paths or certain destinations that are hoped for. I got asked more than once if I thought my oldest son would go into politics because of a combination of factors. I'd just smile and reply, "Nah, he's an honest person. He's also got way too much self respect for that."
  3. Folks up thread were discussing talented people getting into politics and their alma maters. Personally, I hope my kids never do, beyond local stuff.
  4. That was ZERO shot at Texas, but rather the business of bigtime college football in general. My house is very glassy, from that perspective. The whole process is borderline insanity at this point.
  5. The mental gymnastics of preserving this gravy train is laughable.
  6. With a hurricane or most tornadoes, you have some semblence of a warning and time to prepare/ seek shelter. How are y'all doing with the abrupt disruption without warning? Is it just, "Hey nobody is hurt. We're ok?" or is there any lingering uneasiness, beyond living conditions?
  7. exotics are lift kits and truck nuts for people with more money. is far as 18YO shithead, he's gonna get his. They always do.
  8. I'd like to see a Venn diagram of the folks posting in the "My kid got into UT/ other prestigious schools" threads and how many of those parents hope their kids end up in politics.
  9. $21M cap for Schools. does that make a shit for 3rd party? "Hey, this entity is sponsoring me regardless of my school. " There's still a shit-ton of undefined parameters, all in the name of avoiding calling the players employees. LMAO.
  10. My appraisal dropped...11.5%. I cannot recall that ever happening regardless of locale.
  11. @PTINSDon't mansplain Katy ISD. Lol All of that growth, and Katy High just miraculously stays at the top. I mean, I know we had that upstart Paetow. But that shit got corrected very quickly.
  12. aren't most NIL's year to year though? Why would he owe TN anything?
  13. Yeah, the NBA ain't even gonna give them the fatherly stare, much less block that trade.
  14. When the meat sucks, you talk about the sauce...
  15. Best high school player I ever seen. Jorvorskie Lane. Just fucking dominant. Don't think of the aggy Lane, but in high school he was just a badass motherfucker. Punted too.
  16. That's such an extreme exception, I don't even know what to say. Do you need the 480 counter examples of kids who miraculously ended up at Katy/ Aledo/ Westlake who didn't grow up there?
  17. 1975 Masters. ChiChi Rodriguez and caddy.
  18. I admittedly enjoyed it. Was texting back forth with oldest son, who does golf and I said I was entertained, as an ode to Maximus imploring the crowd. His reply- "Damn, that's high praise from you."
  19. I've watched more golf in the past 3 days than the rest of my life combined. Don't know any of the personalities/ missteps by players except that this tourney title has eluded McIlroy. It was highly entertaining and was wanting more playoff holes, but it's very cool that he got the win. As a reminder, Dale Earnhardt took 20 attempts to win the Daytona500...and later died there.
  20. It blew away all of your grass!!! ( glad y'all are safe!!!)
  21. Wait we can call those in? I thought that was just a rivals joke in sports.
  22. I'm not whining. I'm describing what is going on with big time college football. The colleges are basically a front. The current product, if he will, has virtually nothing to do with the original intent of having student athletes who represented a school.
  23. UIL is defanged. There is absolutely recruiting going on in Texas high school sports. They allegedly do not allow it. If they were serious about it, they would make any student athlete who didn't attend that school or it's junior high feeders sit out one year in order to be eligible. And that would only be a first step. Also, to be clear, I'm not discrediting amateurism. I was making fun of how the NCAA hid behind it for years.
