  1. A note from recruiting land so y’all know what kind of recruiter JE is. He calls and texts Emerick 3-5 times /week. Still recruiting her even though committed. My daughters coach called her about 1 time per month after she commented [emoji23]
  2. I don’t know if she was at that one. She prob was. I was done with prep VB by then.
  3. She wasn’t there when you guys played her in Dallas
  4. 2011 was getting worse toward the end of August. Remember this fire in bastrop?
  5. Westlake Libero commit article at top of AAS sports page today: Defensive specialist Reese Emerick is everywhere for the Westlake volleyball team. And while she’s noticeable on the court for her bright red libero jersey, what makes her really stand out is her high-level athleticism, ability to seemingly be involved in every point and an uncanny ability to pull up opponents’ vicious attacks. Emerick, who recently committed to play volleyball at Texas, showed Tuesday night in Westlake’s home match against San Antonio Cornerstone Christian that she can do everything you’d design an elite back-row player to do: pass precisely, set when needed, serve efficiently, communicate with teammates and — most importantly — frustrate a defense with impossible digs. “On the court, she commands the back row,” said Westlake coach Miguel Saenz, who is in his first year leading the Chaps after successful tenures at Bowie and Regents. “She already makes reads that I taught her last week that usually take a month to get implemented. But the best thing I love about her is that she’s confident — and when you’re in serve-receive you have to be confident. She’s assertive and is a bit of a general on the court, and that’s really good to have my first season here.” Just a junior, Emerick wasn’t allowed to be recruited by colleges until June, See VOLLEYBALL, Page 3C VOLLEYBALL from page C1 to page C3 Volleyball Continued from Page 1C but she had already built an impressive resume that undoubtedly caught Texas’ attention. In addition to what she’s done at Westlake the past two years, she was recruited to train with the U.S. Olympic program at different cities in the spring and summer and will continue to do so in the winter. Already a frequent attender of Longhorn volleyball games, Emerick said she was open to playing at any college in the country, but that staying local was the right move. “Since recruiting opened two months ago, I realized I loved (Texas) from the start and feel like I found my home,” she said. “I go to games all the time and already live here — so what’s not to love about it.” Running all over the court on the way to 19 digs in just three games as the Chaps were swept 25-22, 25-11, 25-21 by Cornerstone — which has seven girls pledged to Division I schools, is not associated with TAPPS, travels all over the country for tournaments and is ranked in the top 10 nationally — Emerick also caught the attention of Warriors coach Mike Carter. “She controlled 20 feet of sideline,” he said. “She read the ball well, knew where to position herself and was phenomenal the entire match.” Emerick has already proved that she’s a serious volleyball player from a talent, intelligence and effort standpoint, but one thing she said she’s focused on this fall is simply enjoying the game with her Westlake teammates. “I view myself as the defensive quarterback and like to be a leader and support and encourage everyone,” she said. “I’m all about having fun on the court, and whatever that means for us — we should do it.” Westlake (7-4) fared well in the first and third games, especially as Saenz and what is a senior-heavy team not only have to adjust to each other, but have to deal with an injury to starting outside hitter Caroline Pence. Lily Davis, Evie Naumann and Sophia Luo combined for 19 kills, while setters Isa Breeden and Cameron Shelly teamed up for 22 assists. The Chaps are thought of as contenders for the District 26-6A title along with Dripping Springs and Lake Travis, and Saenz noted playing teams like Cornerstone only helps Westlake improve. “We’re still figuring out rotations, and I want as tough a schedule as possible going into district play,” he said. “We’ve got a loaded district and our playoff path is really difficult, so even though it stinks to lose, we learn a lot about our weaknesses when we play good teams like this.” With Emerick being arguably the top defensive specialist in Central Texas and the Chaps in general being a pretty experienced team, Westlake seems in as good a spot as any when district play starts in less than a week. “This is a super fun team and we all have good friendships with each other,” she said. “We have a lot of seniors, and I just love how we’re all super close.”
  6. How many 100 degree days are we up to in Austin at this point?
  7. Edit - tried to add more detail but it timed out so adding it here. She has a scholarship offer. I’ve seen lots of of HS age liberos. Lots. She is as good as it gets in her age group. She is a few years younger than my kid (mine had her first college scrimmage today as a matter of fact) However I am close to her family and I know how much work she has put in to perfect her craft. She plays behind a few D1 middles in club that frequently slow the ball, so a better evual can be made when she was playing out of position on the WHS HS team last year. Even out of position (because WHS OH passing was and still is atrocious) playing Middle back she was averaging a high 2 passing average. In additional I’ve sat behind her at several tounements with a coaching friend of mine and my daughters college assistant and they are both consistently impressed how well she reads the attack. Long story short texas is getting prob the best 24 Libero in the state.

  9. Reese Emwrick just commited to Ut. Prep VB top 150 L from Westlake
  10. There was a day back in September 2000 (I think) that was like 115. I was working at Dell at the time and my cheap sunglasses melted in my car.
  11. Also - the game became such a part of my gaming muscle memory I tried to R3 deadeye multiple times during my play through of Horizon FW and now elden ring. In horizon it meant I “searched” with my focus - a primary game mechanic. Not a huge deal. In elden ring it means lose/gain enemy lock-on which has cost me dearly multiple times [emoji23]
  12. It really is. I’m enjoying elden ring as it’s the only game I’ve played since RDR2 that occupied so much of my time.- but it doesn’t hold a candle to the greatness and just unbelievable attention to detail of rdr2.
  13. Just thought I would chime in here and say it’s hot.
  14. Even after the nerf comet azur + Loretta’s bow around 70int are just easy mode
  15. Cue Pasken with some bullshit city government excuse in 3…2…1…
  16. A few more notes I tried to add in the edit Very hard for other teams to defend/block because the sets are so low and fast. Her outside is headed to UConn, RS to Texas State and Middle to UNC. So she had lots of front row talent. Not a good blocker. In fact she is a front row liability defensively (sound familiar?). But her club played a 6-2 against so so it wasn’t an issue. Excellent passer. Serve is good but it wasn’t really a weapon. Took some time away from VB because her sister passed away - so she skipped the junior year recruiting push. Definitely a walk on. Very nice kid. Good teammate. Good family. My daughters college team tried to recruit her where she would actually play. I don’t think she sees the court much, if ever at texas because she is a 5-1 front row liability. So my guess is she is going to get the work with Texas and hit the portal in a few.
  17. Seen her play a lot. She is small but runs a very very fast offense in club.
  18. I dont know if you have retried the caster, but I found it a lot of fun to play with.
  19. It really is fattie land isn’t it? I was truly surprised. It’s worse than Wal-Mart.
  20. Ya. But those tickets to imaginary locations are sooooo neat.
  21. Ha. This is me. I’m a level 21 and just recovered Minerva and opened up the west. But lots of green in the East! I am obsessed with the infiltrator style. It’s takes longer but love the silent strike method of clearing out rebel bases. Aloy is a bad bitch.
