@Machinator Need to change the title of this thread to Super Bowl Champion Shane Buechele. Joins Garrett Gilbert as the only 2 Texas QBs with a ring.

Heard a few jokes about trying to predict the next guy destined to be the 3rd Texas QB to transfer to SMU and win a Super Bowl ring.

  2. Large corporations requiring degrees for managerial work is creating a huge ceiling for people with tons of experience but no degree.

I worked for a regional company later bought out by a big corporation. Pre-takeover, each branch was semi-autonomous and had the discretion to hire/fire workers based on production and need. I used to train guys up to be my #2s before they would go off to manage their own branches in the region.

Post-takeover, we cant do shit without running exempt hires up the corporate ladder. Guys who would be my solid Hank Hill assistant manager hires are now stuck being hourly team leads since they have no fucking degree. There is no progression up the ladder and people are leaving.

The corporation wants a minimum of a bachelor degree to be an exempt employee. They would rather hire some inexperienced kids with online degrees from Western Governor’s University or University of Phoenix grads over my proven performers who have been on my team for years. It wasn't like this before.

Gun safety should be a given for an armorer, whether young or old good or bad.

The value of an armorer to most producers/film people is a) access to period- and situation-correct weapons/reproductions and b) teaching the actors to use them in a realistic fashion.  The "safety" aspect is not what makes an armorer good or bad, although an unsafe armorer is certainly a bad one.

If you are shooting a film that doesn't require that expertise, then you can cheap out and should still expect the on-set weapons to be safe and safely handled.

The armorer was 24, the prop master was 24, and the prop master assistant was 19. Is it typical for movies with this level of gun usage to employ young females in these types of jobs?

Tom won’t retire. But he’s done at Tampa Bay. That team is a hot mess and benefited by a weak division. I’ll wash the tshirt and wear it Sunday. We will need all the luck we can get. But if we can get a good pass rush we should be in the NFC finals. That will be some big fun!

Don’t wash it, dont fold it, don’t even turn it inside out when you take it off. We need to keep this mojo going for next week
