  1. I like Petersen back to when he was OC at Boise State, but it’s hard for me not to pull for Utah.
  2. Don’t know. I’m not a big Chippewa fan.
  3. I may be losing my mind, but I thought I read (here? though I can’t find it with the search) that in conference championship games that are rematches of regular season games, the winner in the regular season wins 60% of the championship games. Given that teams in championship games are probably at least above average, that’s a pretty fair rate.
  4. I guess I missed the part where I justified violence. I’m not really seeing the relevance of some obviously bad and violent scenarios.
  5. If he did what we was accused of, between Rice and Hunt, though I admit I didn’t follow his saga particularly closely.
  6. It strikes me more as something like Rae Carruth > Ray Rice > Kareem Hunt on the egregiousness scale, though none of the three actions are acceptable.
  7. Saying it’s not as bad as what Rice did isn’t minimizing it, it’s simply comparing the two events. Saying “It’s not that big of a deal because...” is minimizing.
  8. Well, they get to work in 3D and look straight down the line, so that doesn't hurt.
  9. And Gregory's helmet is past the tip of ball. Offsides.
  10. Here's how offside is defined: SECTION 20 - OFFSIDE A player is Offside when any part of his body or his person is in the Neutral Zone... ARTICLE 2. NEUTRAL ZONE The Neutral Zone is the space between the forward and backward points of the ball (planes) and extends to the sidelines. Item 2. Snapper. If he is the snapper, no part of his body may be beyond the Neutral Zone.
  11. No he isn't and no he wouldn't be. His helmet isn't past the tip of the ball. Gregory's helmet was. Use the 50 yard line as reference for the leading edge of the ball and of Gregory's helmet. And of the center's helmet, if you like.
  12. Even using the blue line just as reference, it shows his helmet past the ball. He’s aligned a full head and some shoulder farther forward than Lawrence or anyone else. He was offsides.
  13. Tip of the ball is on the forward edge of the blue scrimmage line. Helmet is nearly all the way across the blue line and is past the ball.
  14. Hard to play in a conference championship game and be 11-1, so I’m not sure what to make of that condition. Alabama beats Clemson in an out of conference game. Clemson crushes the ACC and finishes 12-1. Alabama 12-0 plays Georgia 12-0 and Georgia wins a close game. Clemson 12-1 won a weaker conference. Alabama 12-1 beat Clemson but didn’t win their conference. You’d put Clemson in over Alabama if UGA and ND were undefeated?
  15. 2016. https://okstate.com/news/2016/9/10/football-cowboys-fall-to-central-michigan-30-27.aspx
  16. Saints defense played well, but, like you said, you can’t miss a guy 5 yards behind everybody and you can’t be loose with the ball. That stuff is on the offense regardless of the opponent.
  17. I don’t think Dallas wins in the Superdome with 13 points and holding the Saints to 10 again might not be realistic. But, yeah, the defense is strong. Strong enough for the offense to play like it has almost all season against the Saints in New Orleans, the Rams, maybe the Chiefs? That’s a big ask.
  18. Fear that the pass play won’t burn all four seconds?
  19. Horizontal passing game and congenital inability to call a long pass on second and one notwithstanding, I’m less harsh in my evaluation of Davis after seeing what happened to Harsin.
  20. I expected a lot less from the Dallas defense and a little more from the Dallas offense. Dallas has a pretty fair shot at winning the division, but if they want more than that the offense is going to have to step up even if the defense plays as well as it did last night. It was an impressive effort, though, I’ll give them that.
  21. Some of his problems might fixable. Quicker decisions could come from more reps or he just might not be a quick decision maker. Not everyone learns pocket presence no matter how well prepared. Not everyone feels the game around the no matter how well prepared. Experience doesn’t seem to be making him markedly better. I’d be concerned about that.
