I think the class of 2020 thread hit 500 in July. That was the summer of Demas being Demas, losing Broughton at the Rivals camp because we didn't have any other highly rated recruits there, covid planning, Bijan giving a silent to fOSU, and ~200 pages of Tom Herman content.
Right. There is the fact that, for the last 14 years, the offseason was the best part of being a Texas football fan. Every offseason, Gerald Wilbon could be the next Terrance Cody, Andrew Fitzgerald could be the next JJ Watt, and the lightbulb would finally come on for Naashon Hughes. Of course, all those dreams came crashing down every fall, but hope springs eternal, and that drives conversation.
In short, it was like being a Texas A&M fan for the last 84 years.

Well they intentionally avoided making a good movie, unlike Oppenheimer, which was very good
Sometimes Marty doesn’t cater to the slack jaws among us. Nolan is great at that.

does it? Because Barbie is the one movie that sticks out as a sore thumb for being nominated. It was definitely a cultural phenomenon and might have been fun, but it was an absolute trainwreck from a writing/directing perspective. If there is one movie people will look back on in 20 years and wonder what the heck people were thinking, it will be Barbie. That being said, I am also shocked Gerwig wasn't nominated.

Just for shits and gigs*Backups guesses based off 23-24 depth chart and freshman coming in
QB: Ewers, Arch
RB: Baxter/Blue, Wisner, Gibson, Clark
WR: Cook, Moore
WR: Bond, Niblett
WR: Golden/Bolden, Wingo
TE: Helm, Davis *Potentially Niblack*
RT: Williams, Cojoe
RG: Campbell, Hudson
OC: Majors, Robertson/Hudson
LG: Conner, Agbo
LT: Banks, Goosby, Baker
Jack: Sorrell, Tapp, Vasek
DT: Collins, Broughton
DT: Bledsoe, January/Hills
NT: Bryant, Mitchell
End: Burke, Finkley, Simmons
SLB: Blackwell, Blackshire
MLB: Lefau
WLB: Gbenda, Hill
CB: Brooks, Holmes * Possibly Muhammad*
FS: Mubuka, Filsaime/JJR
BS : Williams, Taaffe
CB: Muhammad, Robertson
Star: Barron, Guilbeau
Obviously some of this will change around a bit with some of the guys from the last class and this class playing roles. WR rotation will be interesting. Cook, Bond, Golden with sets that have Bolden on the field in a few different spots is my guess, with Wingo getting some spots here and there like Cook did this year. I’d think Gbenda, Lefau and Hill will be on the field together. If Jabbar comes in, I’d be curious to see if anyone leaves (Brooks or Holmes). That offense looks fucking incredible even without Niblack. Add him in and Jesus Christ. The secondary you’d think would be much improved. The edge on the DL should be filthy as well. Another big body at DT would be the chef’s kiss to this roster.I’ve got some great news for you re edge play.

I wish they would record and auto caption the DeBoer exit interview with Strong.
You just look over there and it’s just all about desperately clinging to the college football world that has long since passed you by.

Damn, they are getting absolutely gutted, and I am here for every fucking second of it. What in the hell is DeBoer telling saying that no one is willing to stay on board.
This might just be the new normal if you have a coach depart a roster with talent. Happened to A&M, happening to Bama, and it’ll probably happen at Michigan (although most of their studs are already gone). I assume Bama is doubly fucked because all these guys that took a Saban discount are now testing their market value.

Motherfucker I spend the majority of my free time around people that have injected more testosterone in a week than you will ever naturally possess in your life. I’ve forgotten more about A&P, diet, and anabolics than you will ever know. Adding 20 pounds of muscle, which is different than adding 20 pounds of body weight, ain’t fucking happening. Professional bodybuilders whose sole dedication is eat, sleep, and train don’t add 20 pounds of muscle in 3 years. And finally, the post I quoted said summer, but go ahead and fuck right off with your 8 months too because that ain’t happening either.46 minutes ago, Herbie Hancock said:

That’s not putting on 30 pounds of muscle you illiterate dumbass. That’s 30 pounds of scale weight. I can put that on your bitch ass in 6 weeks.35 minutes ago, Herbie Hancock said:

It’s gotta probably be 10 year increments rather than entire generations. If you are a millennial in high school in the mid-aughts like me, it doesn’t get more defining than Superbad

this is difficult but
Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Robertson, James, Shaq
next 10 tier Steph, Duncan, West, Hakeem, Mikan, Dr. J, KD, Cousy, Dirk, Petit
Having Kobe above Duncan is some mind-blowing shit to me, and I say that as a Mavs fan that hated Tim Duncan in the moment.
MJ, LeBron, Kareem, Magic, Russell, Wilt, Duncan, Bird, Kobe, Steph
Followed by, in some order, Hakeem, Shaq, Oscar, KD and Jerry West

If the Ogre comes here you know Sark is gonna set that motherfucker loose on all kinds of talent in LA, and I'm here for it. Dude is a below average HC, but if I recall he's a bad dude as a position coach.
Live and let live, but I’d prefer he be focused on recruiting football players.

Columbus, OH, is as big or bigger than Austin, TX, from a population perspective. It's the biggest city in the state by far and fucking dwarfs cities with pro teams like Cincinatti and Cleveland. I'm not super familiar with the kind of business and industry in Columbus, but I'm betting it's fairly decent.
Austin's population is larger than Columbus (both Austin proper and MSA).

Can I just give you my list of top 10 jobs moving forward?
1. Ohio State2. Texas
3. Georgia
4. USC
5. LSU
6. Oregon
7. Tennessee
8. FSU
9. Michigan
10a. Texas A&M
10b. Alabama
Just off the top of my head....I think 7-9 can be reordered however you see fit. I have Bama/A&M a tie because Bama has the results and has proven throughout the decades they can hire the right guy, obviously having 2 of the best coaches ever coach there. LSU is 5th because those cajun fucks will do whatever it takes to win and have the results to back up, RIP children hospital funds.
As long as FSU isn’t in the SEC or Big 10, they don’t belong on a list. I’d still put Florida above them for that reason. They’ve been wandering in the desert for a bit, but that job has a lot going for it.

Completely lateral move... didn't even get a promotion and just a $300K-$500K salary bump which we could have matched.
That really stings. Especially right after we lose our two best DTs. More than that it shatters the idea that Texas is and should be a final destination-type job for all but a) the NFL or b) a significant promotion elsewhere.

Lost by 6 at TCUn with a chance to win in the final minute against the national champions. If that’s your fucking definition of terrible I don’t know what to tell you.
We lost our starting QB against Missouri. Yeah, most teams are offensively challenged if that happens. Ohio State has had one of the best offenses in college football for many yeah and if that’s challenged well then you’re mentally challenged.
There are stupid fucking takes and then there’s you lumping Ohio State in with Penn State and Iowa.
You left out the most important detail. Your daddy might be headed off to the NFL, so Day actually has a chance to do something!

I still maintain that Chris Nolan is otherworldly visually talented, but just doesn’t quite have the flesh of a great (or probably even good) writer.
This is hardly a controversial opinion in the world of film discourse. Nolan has cringe dialogue and writes transparently thin female characters, news at 11. Incredibly insightful and against the grain stuff here.

So, he will be playing with a different team then? Don't see where he fits in at cornerback here.
Yeah, I don’t really see that with Brooks and Muhammad, but what do I know. Muhammad looks like a future star.

2024 Oscar Nominees
in Movies and TV
Posted
I guess I’m ok with Gerwig not being nominated, because that category is stacked. Personally I would swap her in for Yorgos (another film that struggles with being a bit too one note in an otherwise masterfully created world). Robbie not being nominated over Annette Bening is fucking insane.
