I mean…we also have 3 more losses than Tennessee overall.

I’m not saying we should be ranked 8th. I’d go more with 23 or so

I just personally think we’re being a little underestimated at the moment

Did his assists go up because of the high team shooting % or was it the other way around?  I would love to see less hero ball from him, so I'm hoping it was the latter.

From my perspective the team had a ton more motion on offense than we have had in past games.

Not sure if there were actual plays called, but we had a lot more cutting and movement than usual. It was nice to see.

I don't know if we're a top 25 team but in the last 4 games we've played #22 Missouri (won by 8), #13 A&M (won by 1), #23 Ole Miss on the road (lost by 3), LSU (won by 31).

We are certainly playing like a top 25 caliber-ish team recently.

I think we're definitely a top 25 caliber team. We're 4-5 in the SEC and Tennessee is 5-4. And we barely lost to them.

Somehow they're ranked 8th and we're in the "other votes received" column around 35th.

Doesn't make a lot of logical sense.

My point:  If RT is back at Texas next year, I want him to remain under terms of his current contract, and only have 3yrs left including next season.

Ah that makes sense. I think everyone agrees there.

CDC should not give RT an extension after this season... too many folks see RT as one of the worst head coaches in the SEC.

Who in the world is saying he should get an extension after this season absent a final four run?

RT did a pretty solid job at Fresno. He took them to the tourney for the first time in 15 years (longer than that if you consider Tark put them on probation to get there). And he was steadily improving their recruiting and final KenPom ranking. He finished his time there averaging 22 wins in his last 3 years, which was good enough to get a better gig at UTEP.

Exactly. Even though Groundhog Day is tomorrow I'm really sick of having this same conversation again and again and again. But it's quite clear that he took a team with a perpetual losing record and got them to 20 win seasons and NCAA bids.

I also think it's irrelevant at this point. Of course he didn't get the job based on his past performance. But he has the job. I'll grade him on what he actually does here at Texas as opposed to a mix of his previous record and my subjective opinion of him.

To be fair, we've been on a fire Terry kick since last season. It's not like that sentiment is just from that game.

Yeah it just feels like everyone has decided this guy isn't the guy from the jump. The prevailing sentiment and the actual results on the court are not in line.

I share everyone's frustrations with our "offensive plays/scheme" as they/it seem non-existent, but an Elite 8 -> Round of 32 -> at least make the tournament is not fireable IMO. Unless there's a perfect, no brainer replacement available.

IMO we have a ton of 50/50 games coming up. They could break that we lose most of them, miss the tournament, and RT is clearly gone. Or they could break that we win most of them, get a decent seed, and make a tournament run.

I don't pretend like I can predict the future. I'll hope for the latter scenario as I'm a Texas fan who watches all the games and likes seeing Texas win. If the former occurs the good news is we'll move on from RT.

From my perspective it's an uncertain tossup situation that we have to watch play out.

  8. Did Rodney Terry miss an open 3 to tie the game on Wednesday?

The last 2 games RT has drawn up plays to get great shots to win/tie the game.

It's his fault Tre bricked a wide open look? And Chris Beard's coaching ability helped cause Tre to miss it too?

Or is the argument that we should have easily beaten a ranked team on the road who were 6.5 point favorites and the fact that it was even close is RTs fault?

It's not a real logical leap from a close road loss to a ranked opponent to FIRE RT NOW!!!!!

I think the answer is a resounding yes.  RT needs to go and take Haith with him.

I personally think Haith is the main problem and our fortunes would be much improved with an Associate HC with a better offensive mind

But RT ain’t replacing Haith so their fates are tied together here

Wild mood swings depending on what happens in the last game.

From can't possibility make the NCAA Tourney, to now can make the Sweet Sixteen.

    Final four baby!!! 🤘🏼

Yea the season before he was Johntaying a little.

I've never heard anything other than X worked his ass off and didn't cause any issues at all.

I'm no sort of insider, but I've never heard or read anything other than he's a hard worker who's one of the first to arrive and last to leave.
