Yeah, we all wanted to side with Charlie at the time because we wanted to support the coach and believe he would have success here.  But considering Red owned his own pro sports teams, and employed black head coaches at a time when it was much less common than today, it was always pretty ludicrous to think he was some racist dude that just couldn’t stand to see a black man coaching UT.

Most wanted Red out of the picture because he was like the man behind the curtain controlling Deloss who at the time had his head so stuck in the ground, it ended up in China.  Football, Basketball and Baseball were all screaming for leadership shake ups in some way and Deloss was like " all is good, nothing to see here folks."   So Charlie was the ultimate FU to the establishment.      It turned out to F the program in the long run.

Deloss outlived his tenure by a few years and we rushed to get another clusterfark in the AD's office because of one reason alone and that was to try to look like we were fixing things to counter the momentum at aggy, and even up the road in Waco and Ft Worth as they were not only doing well in football, but in hoops and the diamond as well.    We rushed to get the media darlings of the coaching world such as Charlie and Smart without doing some serious due diligence.    I have to think we'd be at whole different level right now had we hired a Del Conte like guy or himself a few years ago.   In all sports....

  2. Where are you flying out of?

    Probably IAH.

I guess I should add once in Europe I wouldn’t mind using what might be the version of the SWA or Jet Blue to get from one destination to another if a train isn’t available.
  3. I'm talking about the UK, Spain, or Italy.  What's the best Airline to fly and why?  And screw the US carriers  who treat you like crap and feed you bird food unless any of you gals had a better experience.    I don't mind connections at any European hub either.    I don't have a date certain yet, but it will be summer travel.

This is a really good early season. Yesterday Breck was boasting about how it’s the earliest they’ve ever opened all their terrain.

I was in Breck over the summer and the locals said last season was very bad,  almost historically bad.   They were down about never having another good snow season again and I told a few of them we feel  the same  way bout rain down here when we are in drought.   Then shit happens like Harvey and the floods like we had this fall on the Colorado and Llano Rivers and  it's soon forgotten.

But damn I wish I was on my way to Breck right now.

  5. As good as they've always been, it's hard to believe Cuero hadn't won state since '87

That was the year Robert Strait was carrying the rock for Cuero. That guy should have been a legendary RB at the next two levels. Shit happens.
  6. Is there anything worse than listening to John Rhadigan interview these marketing schleps?
I mean, besides listening to John Rhadigan do PBP for major league baseball?

I miss DQ being a sponsor. Their crap looks better on TV than Jackass in a Box.

I also vote Johnston & Murphy.  I own several pairs, several styles from dress lace-up to casual loafers.  I've had one pair of loafers for over 15 years (my go-to weekend shoes), and had them re-soled a few times because they were so comfortable.

I'll vouch for J&M.  Ecco has some good casual shoes.
