My pet theory is that they're all suffering from some degree of mass delusion due to:

    • Tainted water supply both Tsalal and the mining operation tapped into by digging up some ancient virus/bacteria that promises everlasting life but causes hallucinations, and/or
    • The perpetual dark/twilight is making them go a bit mad on top of the stress of the moment.

I'm curious when the forensics expert sent up from Anchorage arrives and who it might be.

Bingo. This is my theory too.

(I think we should try and get DJM back)

We'd need to add a couple shooters around him. But we need to do that anyway. Starting lineup of:

    DJ

    DV

    Sochan

(find a stretch 3 or 4 that can stroke it)

    Wemby

Could be killer. Either ship KJ or have him come off the pine.

It's irritating to think about guys like Derrick White and Josh Richardson. They'd be perfect.

Man, I don’t know. That dude is so immature. He’ can’t log off social media. He’d be great if he could act his age. Plus, they’d want their picks back and those picks might actually bring back some serious talent seeing as how they’re looking to blow it up. We’ve got their 2025, which is the Cooper Flagg draft and 2026 swap rights (Dybantsa/Boozer draft). Is that worth it for Murray. Maybe we’ll find out, but the lack of Spurs mentions in their constant search of shopping him probably means the Spurs have no interest in returning any of their picks. That team is a dumpster fire. My worry is that they’re running for Trae, which might actually kill Mitch.

Memphis took 54 3s and still shot 40 FTs?

When? They didn’t play last night.

edit: sorry, I’m the moron who didn’t read the post above.

That's fair. I didn't use to dislike him. I think I'm just so tired of that team in general. The past few seasons I've liked the Lakers better than them.

Yup. If we’re talking teams that I hate, the Warriors are definitely at the top of the food chain, squarely behind the Lakers and whatever team that douche-nozzle Kawhi plays for. Draymond’s antics on and off the court, my general disdain for Steph and Klay’s superb shooting over the years, and the stupid shitty online fanbase of moronic, pimple-faced squealers (Aggie excluded) defending their heroes at every turn have solidified my hatred of everything Golden State.

Do any non-Warriors fans still like this douche?

Yes. He’s a coach, advocating for his team. Also, I have very fond memories of him as a player. The reffing has been abysmal this season, with no clear direction on contract rules, fuck ups on review, and down right disdain for having to explain their mistakes while taking no responsibly, all while the league promotes gambling like it’s insulin for us diabetics creating a clear conflict of interest, especially when they’ve been embroiled in a ref/gambling scandal, and one of the refs with a lot of contact with Tim Donaghy still has a job (coughScottFostercough). He’s a cocky asshole who has questionably run his team, but he’s also the architect of what the league is now offensively. So yeah, I like him. Mike Malone is whinier. Pop is preachier, and Spoelstra is more arrogant (I have no point of reference on this, just the audacity of divorcing that beautiful, beautiful woman/succubus).

Sochan is being criminally underrated by this fanbase as a whole. Dude is going to be a borderline all-star level player. If they trade him I may just quit watching.

Pop can still coach. It's the roster management/building part that concerns me. They really, really need to overhaul this roster going into next season. Wemby/Sochan/Keldon/DV isn't a bad core - although DV and Keldon are somewhat expendable if we could package one of them for a better return.

They need better players around them. Branham/Wesley/Cedi/Doug are just horrible fucking rotational NBA players. I mean awful. Collins and Tre are nice pieces that I'd like to hang on to.

If we try and largely run this roster back going into next season we all might just wind up waiting for Pop to die or decide he's done. Which would be terrible because Wembanyama is the best 19-year old in the history of the game. We can't dick around tanking for multiple seasons with this kid. He would start for every playoff team in the league.

I hope when Pop does leave it's more of the graceful exit type variety and not the Joe Paterno YOU CAN HAVE THIS JOB WHEN I'M DEAD variety.

I agree with everything except for Collins. He’s fucking awful. Abysmal. Paper thin on defense, has a serviceable post game, but can’t shoot from three and won’t stop shooting from three. I hate everything about his game. Even his stupid headband. Dude can pass, though.

I'm guessing they'll say Wemby will have more total stats because his team is ass, my dude while Chet will get good but lesser stats because of all the other guys around him.

They'll both be really good players and it's even better if they're salty over the years.

It’s too bad you didn’t watch till the end, where they describe Chet’s attention to detail and use as an example his manicuring of his pubes to form an Amish beard around his balls.

TL;DR the carpet matches the drapes.

  8. Thought this was a great video that explains the ROY race and the differences in what each player is being asked to do and how last nights game was a microcosm of the award. Fun race.

I'm in the minority on this, but I understand where Pop is coming from on that. Love him or hate him, Kawhi was a Spur for many important seasons and built a personal and professional relationship with Pop. I can understand why Pop would perceive that relationship as more important than placating a peanut gallery. Pop has the youngest team in the NBA. It's a roster full of (mostly) less-talented players but they are at the same stage of their lives that Kawhi was when he played for Pop, or even younger.

As a thought experiment, suppose back in 2015 when he was 23-24 years old (about Keldon's age today), a visiting team showed up to the AT&T center and a former Spur was getting booed. Doesn't matter why (unless he's a rapist or something like that). Kawhi had a contract extension negotiation coming up, too, if memory serves. If you were Kawhi back in 2015, what impression would it have made on you to see the fanbase turn on a former Spur from six seasons ago and his former coach and role model, who is supposed to be my role model, allow that to happen to another young man he previously coached? Is this man's interest in my well-being and development as a man limited to whether he's my current boss? Does all of that evaporate the moment I leave the organization?

Now imagine it goes the other way: Pop takes the bold step of disregarding what the crowd thinks and sticks up for this player, even though he's no longer on the team. As a fan, sure, it's annoying. But to the young men on that roster, they will never again question whether Pop's interest in their well-being is just a byproduct of his interest in on-court success. He went out on that limb, and took all that hate, for a guy who doesn't even play for him anymore.

Say what you will, but I think that kind of shit matters in the grand scheme, and if we want to keep the core of the team together in the future (the few worthwhile players we have), I believe it will have paid dividends for them to have seen him to stick his neck out for a former player.

Maybe, maybe not, maybe fuck Kawhi Leonard.

This game was a complete blowout but the 4th quarter of Wemby vs Chet was delicious.  They were really going at it for some reason.

This shit was fucking hilarious. The Thunder are kicking the shit out of the Spurs and Wemby just days “fuck it” and decides to detonate on Chet. Chet’s like,  “what he say fuck me for” and finally wakes up (dude had been sleepwalking for a majority of the game), plows into Wemby in anger, and then proceeds to get fed the ball by his teammates and yams it on the less fortunate who get switched onto him. Then Wemby tries to murder Chet. Round 3 is February 29th.

  11. Playoffs this year are going to be so much fun. I can’t remember a season when 1-10 in both conferences were so competitive. Parity in the NBA is weird. I’d say Boston is the favorite, but they shit the bed every fucking postseason.

What is Pop doing? I just don't understand it. He seems to be completely out of touch. The team is slightly better with Tre Jones starting at PG, but he doesn't seem to have fuck all of an idea to get on the right track. He should retire and quietly ride off into the sunset we'd all still appreciate what he did for several decades. The longer he sticks around the further he tarnishes his great legacy.

Tre was injured last night. He starts now, after purposely not playing i.e. tanking to assure a horrible record. But you’re right, it’s probably time for Pop to go. I’ve voiced my own frustrations, and the sermon of the boos was enough for me to want him out.

They really don’t want to win at this point, which is fine. I’m sure that will change next season. They’ve got a ton of draft capital, and can finally add competent veterans through free agency. Brighter days are ahead, and so I just watch for Wemby improvement and to bitch about my least favorite players. It’s really all you can do at this point. As Mitch postulates on numerous occasions, they’re getting better every game.
