    OK, lets explore this scenario.

Trump claims election was a fraud, refuses to leave. Someone files a lawsuit, goes to SCOTUS, who rules Trump lost. Noon, Jan 20 rolls around, Trump refuses to leave.

Who will do the removing? How will that work?

    Anybody? Bueller?

im telling ya. 2020. better hope the military can act accordingly because this society won't be agreeing on shit. we are broken.

Having been to Upstate NY many, many times, I will say that you're proper fucked. The entire Albany area is a wasteland. If you haven't been to Montreal, that's the obvious choice. Crossing to the Canada side is easy, it's the U.S. side that sucks. There will be a long line in every lane and there will definitely be a former mall cop on a power trip at the end of it. If you are considering Montreal because you think it's cheaper than NYC or Boston, you're wrong. The exchange rate isn't enough for any savings to be significant. Bagels, pastrami, poutine and strip clubs. That's what the Faux-French do well.

Unless you are a diehard baseball fan, skip Cooperstown. It's a bitch to get to and you will be shocked at how small the museum is. It is a pretty drive once you reach the lakes though and the city has an old-time feel to it. I haven't made it Lake Placid yet, but it's on the list. I don't know that it would be worth a weekend though.

You didn't mention when you are going, but NYC is always good for the holiday decorations. You won't run out of things to do there.

    Finally, fuck Boston.

yeah i am always afraid of border patrol people. TSA. they are all one breed of mall cop extraordinaire.

i've done Montreal a few times. Will prob just do that. Maybe a night in Burlington getting drunk at a college bar and then a day and night in Montreal. I have found Montreal to be really cheap in my experience. Housing, drink and food. And the food and drink scene there is easy and fun.

Early November, the shittiest time to go up that way. And its amazing how every goddamn thing of interest is 3 hours away from Albany

Only issues Ive had for border crossings was it just being crowded, both at Niagra Falls and at the VT border.  No real issues with the Border Agents at all.

thanks. gonna take the crossing at champlain, Rouses point, or Saint Armand. right now at lunchtime it looks like not much traffic at the first two, some at the third. should be fine.

Timing is the biggest issue for not using miles. It's why I am giving away lots of my miles, I just don't have a lot of use for them. I'm not very flexible on dates anymore, so I need to go when I need to go, and many people are in various similar situations for whatever reason.

one thing i started doing with United is just booking trips way out in advance. maybe book two and cancel one. cancel fees and change fees, and also redeposit fees for the miles, but thats like $150/ticket.

not perfect. but when getting flights valued at $1k, its good

Border crossing in that area should be fine. Just don't try to load up on booze past the 2 bottle limit at the duty free store; customs checks for that kind of thing. Ask me how I know.

please tell captain bat guano, if that is your real name

thats cool. i figured its an easy crossing. i just know i have been hung up before at crossings where it takes hours to get through. wasn't sure if its a major trucking/trade border or what, but whatever. should be fine. i mean they are Canadian, what can they actually do

Forgot about that; kleftiko is good shit. You can make it with the lamb shoulder too.

i think if you can get shoulder it is the best, yes. lots of good grizzle on there to breakdown

if anyone knows where to get shoulder in Austin let a brother know. all i ever see if leg, leg steaks and shanks

  7. yes, Kyoto for the food and culture. its a must.

Tokyo is wonderful. its the opposite of other countries where the capital/big city is a place to avoid. I have been a few times and I freaking love it

you have all the good stuff there

    - eat at Tsukiji in the early morning. sushi. like 5AM then tour the market. great right when you arrive with jet lag and shit

    - only eat at places that make just one food i.e. tonkatsu place, ramen place, etc. its totally worth it. they are obsessive with their food and i respect the shit out of that. alternatively, eating in the meat alleys / piss alleys under or next to the big trains stations is great too. Great time in Shinjuku to be had if you find it. its like small 10 man bars serving bbq and hot sake. all really narrow and stacked one after the other. in the winter its great as it can be pretty damn cold outside.

    - just walk. the trains/subways are awesome. just walk around and explore. let it go how it goes.

    - drink at night at the Golder Gai one night. thats cool. you can meet lots of people and make some friends

  8. lamb ribs are good. done the same. usual just black pepper and salt and things are delightful

one thing you can do is greek style kleftiko. its fucking excellent on the pit.

    - lamb shanks

    - put into tightly wrapped foil

    - only salt, pepper, oregano, a little olive oil, a little lemon, nothing else.

    - put off the side and let sit for 3 or 4 hours. maybe 225 at the most indirect temp

so not really smoking it per say, but indirect cooking it and the slight flavor you get from the pit is outstanding. love me some kleftiko. super easy and the texture and taste are outstanding. you are looking for a melt/breakdown of the cartilage and grizzle almost completely. don't add liquid or some other stupid shit that online recipes say. having it dry to start is what you want and fat will give you some liquid as it cooks. you can direct cook it at the end for a sec to maybe add some color and more flavor if you want. usually i don't even need to.

Fort Ticonderoga is a restored star fort at the southern end of Lake Champlain that was pivotal in the American Revolution. I love that shit.

Montreal seems to check all of the boxes in your "Likes" but seems to check all of the boxes in your "Dislikes as well, so...

    thats the issue my tissue

but yeah prob going to Montreal. Wondering if that border crossing is crowded, slow, etc.

Thanks for the note on that Fort. Love that type of thing too. Will look into it.

  10. alright assholes. I have a weekend in upstate NY - close to the Vermont border, just north of Albany. I have a car. WTF am I supposed to do with myself. Weather looks like assholes.

Drive to Montreal is the answer I think.  3 something hours. Not sure if the Canadian border patrol will rape us though.

Syracuse? Burlington? WTF. Its all nature shit and its rainy and cold. Like not cold enough for snow at lower elevations, but just mud.

Likes: food, booze, French things, museums, culture, booze

dislikes: driving long distances, boredom, rain, border patrol agents, circus folk

    help me panic please, thanks

The fucking nerve of this guy.

Trump is such a viciously cruel person that he fucking MOCKS people on boats trying to help during Harvey? I guess I shouldn't be surprised that such a spineless, dickless, heartless fraud is flummoxed by the desire to help and come to the aid of one's neighbor.

    Fucking clown.

    are you surprised?

a long ass thread of continual outrage. not sure why honestly. i mean we already know these things about him and his ilk. for how long now? eh. don't let it get to you man.

have a good tuesday my Gs.
