  1. This makes me sad. What a player Gabriel Jesus was when he arrived. I’m those first few matches of 22-23 it was clear what a massive upgrade he was to our side … Dropping deep to get the ball, constant movement and runs, linkup play, scoring goals…. he had so much quality. If only he doesn’t hurt his knee at the World Cup… Football moves so fast. He and Zinny were the rocket fuel that absolutely made that project liftoff. Now both likely to be gone.
  2. The Overqueefer is juvenile. And hilarious. Davey adds quite a bit to the show.
  3. But damn… that “2nd XI” is better than damn near every one of our 1st XI’s since 2006.
  4. Timber is an amazing player. Stating that upfront. But it wouldn’t surprise me if Benny Blanco doesn’t regain his 1st XI place if he’s healthy. His overlapping runs create that little bit of extra space Saka and Ødegaard need to work their magic and were a big part of our success in 22-23 and 23-24. And let us not forget the shithousery and interviews, at which he is quite good.
  5. Or he’ll bin it on the formation lap.
  6. The more practice & friendly time he can get with the squad the better.
  7. Apparently Sporting pulled the same shit tactics with ManU and Spurs on Bruno and Porro, respectively. Berta wasn’t having any of it, thankfully. Helped no doubt by Gyökeres insisting on us. If he fires in goals, dude’s going to be a club legend for how he told them “Arsenal and only Arsenal.”
  8. Let’s. Fucking. Go.
  9. Yup. The 5% cash back on gas alone just about covers the annual executive membership fee, and their gas is usually 15 cents/gal cheaper.
  10. Probably need to add depth in Arteta’s favorite position (left back) since Tierney and Tomiyasu left, Zinny’s likely to leave, and Calafiori is injury-prone. Another winger/attacking player would be nice, too.
  11. Didn’t take long…
  12. £52m seemed high, but then there’s the “England International Tax” and “English Player with PL Experience Tax” I hadn’t considered. Also forgot we were interested in signing him when he was at PSV. So, in the finest of Surly tradition, I fired off a half-baked opinion. After reflection, I think he’ll do well in our squad and environment.
  13. That we paid Chelsea £52m. If he had been a Brighton or Bournemouth player, I doubt there’d have been any outrage. People would have asked the usual “well if he’s £52m, then could we have gotten [insert player] instead” etc but nothing beyond that. There were also reports of “attitude” issues: He was benched twice last season by their manager, and there was an incident where he another Chelsea player got into it over who would take a PK. Those won’t be an issue here, as we seem to have a very solid lockerroom and never get awarded PKs. There’s a segment of our fanbase that makes aggy look rational, and it’s a bad look. Never go full aggy and never go full AFTV.
  14. Steak au poivre. After snapping the money shot, I said to myself, “Dutch. Where da sauce?! TF bro?!” and ladled more on my steak. Crème brûlée with homemade whipped cream.
  15. This is shaping up to be a very good window.
  16. Apparently, the agent waving his fee was one of the keys to getting the deal done. He should have, after agreeing to that “ gentlemen’s agreement.”
  17. Reportedly the hang up is we offered €65m+€15m and they want €70m+€10m. Just pay the damn €5m, esp after we just shelled out £50m+ and are sniffing around Eze at ~ £68m. Also… this Gyökeres never should have agreed to a “gentleman’s agreement” when we reupped w/ Spirting. It’s either in the contract or it’s not. Never understand why agents agree to that.
  18. Pathetic. That’s some aggy level shit. You can think a player isn’t a good signing, value for performance, etc. I did, but guess what. He’s an Arsenal player now. Get behind the lad, cheer for him, and hope he has lots of success while playing for The Arsenal.
  19. Yup. Trossard is/was hands-down one of the club’s best signings, an absolute bargain for what we paid vs what he produced. Wish him nothing but the best.
  20. Anne Hathaway will be crushed. Getting back nearly what we paid would be a great deal, though.
  21. I’ll happily eat crow if I’m wrong and will be disappointed if y’all don’t go full Surl on my ass if he’s a stud player. I’ll admit, if we were paying Brentford or Wolves £50m for a winger I wouldn’t be as hesitant. That said… IDK about this one. Berta and Arteta have a good hit rate on transfers, though.
