Stabbing Westward was my favorite band back in the day. Was walking back to campus after a concert and a car full of what seemed like fans asked if I needed a ride. Not worrying about my kidneys being harvested, I jumped in and the lead singer of Stabbing Westward was sitting next to me. This was the only thread I'd ever be able to share that story, so hope you enjoyed it.

FYI - if you, @utee94, and @BurntEyes want to go on a trip down nostalgia lane you can see Stabbing Westward play.

Crazy, a free show with Steve Earle, Charlie Sexton, Marcia Ball, Terry Allen?  Might swing by.

Had a buddy text me from the show say there was an Arc Angels reunion and they were playing Bowie.

  3. I did it! Just had a great conversation with Lindsey. She's down for a backyard concert. They are releasing an album next year and will be touring in the summer so it'll line up perfectly.
Turns out we have a lot of common connections both here in Portland and in Austin.

Shit went a little sideways this weekend. Still have Annabelle Chairlegs (and Lindsey) tonight.  May fate smile upon me.

Thursday night was Bodega - however, they cancelled and I didn't see the email until I was looking for the tickets thursday afternoon.  Womp womp

Friday I went to see Shadowgraphs.  They are typically a chill psych rock band.  Not this night.  The drummer was going way too fast.  The lead singer even called out the drummer a couple of times but to no avail.  Turned into a punk rock show instead.  I like their recorded stuff better.  I saw them a couple of years ago when they were the local opener for Elephant Stone with Frankie & the Witch Fingers.  I thought Shadowgraphs were the best band of the night at that show.  It didn't even sound like the same band on this night.

Next up was Black Lips on Saturday night.  The opener was Pancho and the Wizards.  They were fucking great.  Had an Osees vibe.  They gained a new fan in me.

Black Lips were fun unhinged southern rock.  I enjoyed them but liked the opener better.  Funny moment when people in the crowd would shout out a song title.  The rockabilly bass player was like, "we don't remember how to play that.  We have a 400 song catalog and can only play 10%".  lol

Sunday night is where shit really went sideways.  My gf (no pics) and I went to Revolution Hall (Portland, Or) to see The Black Angels, or so I thought.  I was finishing off a cider when I walked in the entrance.  In the vestibule they had two trash cans and two dudes checking IDs.  I threw my can in the in the trash and pulled out my ID.  Not so fast - one of the dudes looked at the can and says to me "you can't come in.  OLCC rules.  You can't bring an alcoholic beverage on the property of an establishment that sells alcohol."  I point at the trash and say "I threw it in the garbage as soon as I walked in".  "You can't come in.  We could lose our liquor license."

Asshole on a power trip.  Any other person would have said "you can't bring that in.  Throw it in the garbage".  Not this dick.  I know it was my bad but he could have been a little more flexible. Prick.

So we leave and walk around the building to try another entrance.  Nope, he got on the radio and put out an APB.  I'm pretty pissed at this point but there's nothing much I can do.  The Black Angels are my girl's favorite band and I was upset that I fucked it up for her.  I asked the dude if she could still go in and he acquiesced.  I told her to go enjoy the show.  I would pivot and go to another show and pick her up later.  I've seen BA probably 10+ times since they started in 2004 so missing it wouldn't kill me.  I just wanted to have a fun night with the GF.

Luckily, there were several great concerts scheduled for Sunday night.  My cousin's band, The Black Doors, were opening for The Mystery Lights at another venue 10 minutes away so I jumped in the car and hauled ass.

I got to Polaris Hall and got to see the last two songs from my cousin and then saw a great set by The Mystery Lights.  They were awesome.  I was still heated but I was able to enjoy myself.  It's a much smaller venue and I was able to get right up on the stage.

Hopefully my luck is a little better tonight for the Annabelle Chairlegs show.  Pray for me @sidis

I think we can all see what's coming; Sofia/Rush help the mom via therapy realize Oz killed her other little boys and lied about it for 40 years and upon realization, right before she dies, she calls him a monster and has deep, moral and existential regret for her entire life (and his) and that emotional torture is delicious to Sofia, and it hardens Oz and makes him look even more horrible and villianous as his origin story nears completions.

Bonus points if, with Vic who she disdained upon first meeting, she has built some sort of redemption relationship with and grown on him and she warns him to run away or have nothing to do with her son Oz, blah blah.

Lazy and contrived plotting if this is what we get. The acting better be off the charts to make it work.

Well, we'll know who to blame if this comes to pass.
