If you don’t think Mitchell projects, or that Cook behind Worthy projects, or that JT projects, and that all of them would have touches taken away by a lower-rated player, and all of these four project to be better pros than Goodwin did at any point between 2009 and 2012, and that Ship could never stay healthy, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Given that your hindsight is 20/20 and you have an utter disdain for our current players, let me ask you this - which ‘08 receiver would you have replaced for MG - Ship or Quan?

    That’s a beautiful strawman that you’ve built.

Hard to see a guy that never had more than 33 catches or 421 yards in a season and only 1,364 / 7 TDs in a 4-year career getting much playing time over Worthy or Mitchell.  I wouldn’t want him taking any targets away from those guys, and certainly not JT, or Whitt / Cook.

Building an argument based on stats in a completely different system and Gilbert at QB is moronic. I guess Julio Jones had a bad sophomore year with only 596 receiving yards. It couldn’t be that he was in a run heavy offense and a QB with a weak arm.

This is an absurdly high level of basketball. It doesn't matter if it's sloppy or not. These are 20 of the best 1,000-1,200 players in the world.

There are guys in the French league that would cut a nut off to play in the NBA summer league.

I didn’t know you were such a lifelong fan of the beautiful game being played in the Summer League. Sorry if I impugned such a great league.

Mets blow second half lead. Lose championship to Casino Aggie Monaco.

That will be a wrap on Vic in the French League, thankfully. I don't imagine he plays Summer League. Did I hear he has a commitment to the French team this Summer too? So fly him to Brooklyn for next Thursday's draft, make the obligatory introductory press conference / rally in San Antonio Friday,  start assimilating him into the culture/team, and then cover him in bubble wrap until training camp.

A general observation... beyond the obvious physical attributes, I continue to be impressed with his feel and head for the game. He's a good and willing passer, unselfish teammate, and sees the game well. Raw as shit but oozing with potential.

But holy shit his Mets 92 teammates are brutal. There's one play where he's getting fronted by a smaller man in the post and his teammate can't get him the ball. So Wemby motions to have another teammate slide over to the top of the key to receive the ball -- it's a tried and true play to create an easy passing angle to get the big man the ball when he's fronted. Forget executing the entry pass, his teammate couldn't even move to the right spot at the key to receive the ball. And it was shit like this time and time again. So as raw as he looks, he's not getting put anywhere near the right position on the court. They can't set him up properly to set a pick. They can't properly execute back screens to free him. They don't even try to run shit for him 80% of the time. Shaka Smart would look like Larry Brown in that league.

Victor is going to play so much cleaner in a real system with real pros around him, not to mention how the floor spacing will open for him. Point being, I think it's going to be easier for him in the NBA than in this dog ass French league. I don't think it's a stretch for him to average 20 and 10 plus around 3 blocks. He's probably going to get at least 10 points and 5 rebs per game just hanging around the basket cleaning up garbage.

I just want to empathize that @Mitch Cumsteen is 100% right. He will have the easiest 20 10 and 3 blocks you’ve ever seen from a rookie. Perfect game for today’s NBA.

Speaking of Dejounte, when and why did he turn into such a dick?  That trade looks like a heist right now.  We'll see what it bears in fruit.

Probably when he started putting up big numbers for the Spurs and thought he was a bigger star than he is. Those Hawks picks and swaps are looking juicy. But the problem with owning so many Hawks picks is that Atlanta has no incentive to tank. There will always be a handful of teams that own their own picks and will bottom out. Still a great position for the Spurs to be in.

There's no need to make caveats. He's actually that fucking incredible. He has the tool kit to be the most impossible basketball player we've ever seen on both ends of the floor. Like if Kareem played D like Hakeem.

The only big caveat or red flag is his health. How many games is this kid going to play over his career? The physics aren't in his favor but I agree with I think @Mitch Cumsteen who said that he is very fluid and moves well for his size. Still, that may be wishful thinking. I mean if we could get 300 games his first five seasons I might as well die and go to heaven. He's going to light the league on fire as soon as he steps foot on the court. This kid is that fucking special. I legitimately think like Duncan he could flirt with all-NBA as a rookie. Look at what Luka was doing or putting up numbers wise in Euroleague and how quickly he then tore teams a new asshole in the NBA.

There's a reason this lottery was a really, really big deal. We don't need to sit here and pretend like his game has holes. Let him work with an NBA coaching staff and get Timmeh in his ear and just watch him go. He's going to blow people's fucking minds. I just hope he isn't the next Yao or Greg Oden. Shit I'd take the games Embiid has wound up playing as a bad case.

@ztejas is exactly right and said what I was too afraid to say. Just an alien on both ends. Mets 92 is up 1-0 in the best of 5 semifinal. Do yourself a favor and watch one of the streamed games live(maybe mute the awful announcers).

  7. And right after I posted, Wemby hit a beautiful step back 2, swished a 3, and finished a couple alley oops. The announcers made a good point, Wemby already makes 82% of free throws. That’s a huge weapon for a big man.  I feel the need to make caveats maybe just to keep my expectations somewhat tempered. He attempts some very “ambitious” passes. And they look really bad when they don’t work. Be prepared to see that and for haters to clown on them.

  8. Game on now. Back and forth close game that is a real test for Wemby. I’m enjoying watching Wemby on D much more than on O. Do yourself a favor and watch somebody with an 8’ wingspan who is quicker than Rudy Gobert and other elite shot blockers. He blocks 3 pointers that nobody else would even attempt to block. But the real comical part is watching players get the ball to within 4-6 feet of the basket and just have no idea what to do. They can’t shoot over him and they can’t get past him.

Now on the downside, he’s been really cold from 3. Like 25% in last 3 games I think. And a couple times he has tried to drive instead of taking open threes. That has not gone well. A couple turnovers and bad passes have resulted. But man once he starts hitting threes consistently … unstoppable.

Crazy coincidence they got. Bron right?!?!   And Derrick rose got to go to his hometown as well.  Great stories.  How do you rig a draft anyway?   Certified big five accounting companies oversee the process.  Impossible to rig.  Besides the spurs numbers were called two additional times!

Yes. An accounting firm could never make a mistake or be fooled.

  10. Here are the picks the Spurs own in a best case scenario(in addition to owning all of their own picks)

2024: Hornets pick could be as high as 15, Raptors pick could be as high as 7

2025: Hawks unprotected, Bulls could be as high as 11

2026: unprotected pick swap with Hawks

In addition to rooting for the Hawks to collapse we should root for the Hornets to make the playoffs. That pick is projected 1-14 for the next two years and then becomes two 2nd rounders.  It would be really nice for that to convey as a 1st.

Yea I don’t pretend to know like 99% of people on here. I know basketball. Don’t give a fuck about math.

I never thought I would see an adult admit to not understanding basic math. Surly never disappoints.

The new lottery confuses the fuck out of me. I don’t even ask anymore because I feel dumber after someone explains it. I just stick to watching basketball and leave the math nerds to talking about the CBA and contracts and draft lottery odds.

That really reflects poorly on you. But not at all surprising.
