  1. The Kosher rye recipe definitely has that mashbill 2 flavor profile. Enjoy it!
  2. I’ve had the Weller SiB and it’s meh. It’s not better than WFP, which is going for $300 less than WSB on secondary. Cigar Blend and Chateau de Laubade (each going for around $300 each on secondary) are two of the most flavorful and complex bourbons on the market right now. They both shitstomp WSB from both a taste and value perspective.
  3. This. The kid came off the bench in the ‘09 championship game and almost won it as a true freshman. He was the all time high school passing leader and national high school player of the year when he stepped on campus. Had we kept the same offense for him, no way does the program crater the way it did. I’m not saying he would have had the career Colt had (few ever will), but Mack sabotaged any chance of his success by going pro style in 2010.
  4. I got lucky a couple months back and got one off the shelf at Spec’s, but I haven’t seen it anywhere since.
  5. Great kid and talent, but no way he was playing with Card in line to start next season and Ewers coming in ‘22.
  6. Steph Curry would regress at shooting under Shaka’s tutelage. Does it matter if the kid can shoot if Shaka is coaching him?
  7. Chateau de Laubade
  8. I cracked open the Bardstown this evening and damn, is it complex. It’s sweet, but not like typical bourbon sweet. It’s like a dark fruit kind of sweet, like raisins or plums. The palate is completely different from the nose (in a good way as both are delicious). It’s a wild and very enjoyable ride from nose to palate to finish.
  9. If you drop $60k on a Honda Civic, you’re damn sure gonna convince yourself it’s worth that much.
  10. I just don’t get the Garrison Bros hype. $300 for an 8 year old, non- cask strength bourbon (Laguna Madre)? How about $75-$80 for an 80 proofer (Honeydew). Hard pass from me.
  11. Really? That’s good to know. One of the reviews I read on it listed a bunch of states it was available in, but Texas wasn’t one of them. Sounds like they expanded distribution, which I’m all for.
  12. Just has an amazing mail call Saturday. My Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend (batch 24) and Bardstown Chateau de Laubade just arrived. I received these in a trade for a Weller Single Barrel (Plus $50 and shipping). MSRP on the Magnus is $150-$200 and for the Bardstown is $150 or so (and it’s not even distributed in Texas). For the $50 MSRP I paid for Weller SiB, I think I did pretty well here. The Bardstown is 12 year MGP sourced juice, finished 18 months in armagnac barrels.
  13. Exactly. Most of it is overpriced and underaged (I’m looking at you, Garrison Bros.).
  14. Yeah, that Old Scout you had was Dickel. That’s why it sucks. The Old Scout Bill is talking about is MGP (since it was only from Indiana). The inclusion of Tennessee means it’s Dickel juice.
  15. Join one of the national trade groups on FB. You’ll find one one there
  16. That’s what I paid too.
  17. Perhaps 1792? If so, I’ve never seen it on the shelf. I only see the Small Batch, BiB, Full Proof and occasionally the Single Barrel.
  18. Yeah, I believe you’re referencing The Bourbon Junkies. They have a YouTube channel. Pretty entertaining guys who give great reviews and are the complete opposite of Fred Minnick. Give them a look if you’re interested in some fun whiskey review videos. Their full list was the Sam Houston 14, Bardstown Chateau de Laubade, Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend, Kentucky Owl Rye and Old Carter bourbon.
  19. I got a Weller Single Barrel and Buffalo Trace Kosher Rye Recipe this morning at TW. I’ve read some great things on the BT Kosher with several comparisons to their mashbill #2 lineup (Blanton’s, ETL, RHF, Hancock, etc.).
  20. Good way to get in a lot of trouble is running illegal raffles. True, but Facebook doesn’t exactly have the best track record cracking down on content. At worst they’ll just shut the page down and they’ll create a new one.
  21. I have an open one and a backup. It’s really good.
  22. Yeah there are these “lotteries” the flippers run based on the Illinois Lottery Fireball game (done twice daily). It’s kind of like Powerball where there are multiple winning balls drawn and then a final “jackpot” ball. What the flippers do is take their secondary price for a bottle (say $100) and then assign 10 spots you can buy for $10 apiece. Whoever has picked the winning Fireball number (0-9) for that drawing wins the bottle and everyone else loses. You can buy multiple entries if you wish to increase your chances. However, in the posts they’re very careful to note that you don’t make any mention of money in the original Facebook post as I’m assuming that’s what the algorithm is looking for . Yeah, you can win a Blanton’s for a $10 entry fee, but you’ll need to be willing to toss away dollars in losing entries in the long run. Full disclosure. I have participated in a few of these contests and actually won an RHF for a $23 entry. It’s kind of fun to play every now and then, especially when you see something that you’ll never have a chance to buy in a store, but it’s definitely a slippery slope where you can lose a lot of money quickly if you’re not careful. I have seen guys drop multiple hundreds of dollars on entries and come away empty handed. But I guess you can’t win if you don’t play.
