  1. I went to TW this morning at opening along with a few other hunters and this seems to be the case. The staff said anything allocated would be on the shelves. The BT and WSR that’s usually kept up front was on the shelf.
  2. I read in another group that I’m in that TW no longer keeps allocated bottles up in front of the store and now put everything on the shelves. Apparently that started this week. Have any of you guys seen that this week?
  3. I went to a location here in SA today because their system said they had some Knob Creek SiB store picks in, but it turned out to be a mixup with their online inventory. They offered to sell me their last Masters Keep BiB, but I didn’t feel like dropping the $175 for it. I’ll probably regret it later, but c’est la vie...
  4. I have a MMPS from Alamo City Liquors and I really enjoy it, but I have a regular RRSB that I enjoy a bit better. Once I polish off that bottle I’m going to get a RRSB pick from TW and hope it’s better than the regular bottle. The TW by me has their pick of RRSB for like $63, which beats their MMPS by like $8.
  5. I snagged a Spec’s 1792 Small Batch pick today. Have you tried that one before?
  6. Where did you find yours? I’ve had no luck in SA at Total Wine, Twin Liquors, etc.
  7. Has anyone found Rebel Yell 10 year single barrel? I’ve been looking for like two months without any luck.
  8. Nice. I scored one myself today at Total Wine (Sunset Valley). Lucky for me I got the last one they had.
  9. I’ve been lucky the past few weeks with EHT. A couple weeks ago I strolled into a Total Wine and they had a Small Batch sitting up in front on their allocated counter for $36. The Single Barrel had a tag on the shelf at Spec’s, but the shelf was empty. I asked the guy if they had more in the back and luckily they did. I’ve seen a decent amount of EHT small batch around recently, so maybe Texas got an allocation in the past month or so.
  10. I think my biggest issue with these local brands is that they are way overpriced. I see other craft brands on the shelf (like the Woodinville you mentioned) at a way lower price point. I could understand a limited release like Balmorhea getting an inflated price point, but cannot comprehend who would pay the $70-$80 asking price for their regular offerings.
  11. I’m just tired of going into Total Wine/Twin Liquors/Specs and seeing 20+ unopened cases of all of these local whiskeys/bourbons. I get and support the idea to support local businesses, but why not push to get more allocated/popular product when they know it will sell far better? Why would I want to spend $100+ on some hyped local brand when I can spend half that on OF 1920 (or numerous others) and have a vastly superior product?
  12. Scored an EHT SiB today from Spec’s ($56). I’ve heard some pretty good things about this bottle, so I’m pretty excited.
  13. Finally got into my Larceny Barrel Proof A120 tonight. It’s the tits.
  14. For anyone who likes store picks, I came upon a Facebook group called “Texas Barrel Selections” where people post where they’re seeing store picks around the state.
  15. Google is your friend in this situation. Trust me.
  16. Nicky’s gf’s tits are the best tits in the series and rank in the annals of HBO tits history along with Alexandra Daddario (a first ballot HOFer), Ros (Game of Thrones) and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria).
  17. The correct ranking of seasons is 3, 1, 4, 2......5.
  18. Nice. My Twin Liquors just got some 375 mls for 34.99. I snagged one from my guy there. First one I‘ve bought in the wild, so I’m excited to see what all the fuss is about...
  19. Nice grab. Which Twin Liquors?
  20. Into my third pour of Redwood Empire Lost Monarch tonight. Good pour if you can find it for around MSRP ($37).
  21. I’m hoping that we can get to a point where you can buy online directly from the distillery (as you can with many wine vineyards) for at least their allocated varieties. They could sell “memberships” that give you access to these allocations instead of hoping hit hit the lottery and find one out in the wild or pay ridiculous secondary prices. They’d still sell out their inventory and they’d create a new revenue stream via their “memberships”. You’re telling me you wouldn’t pay some membership fee to guarantee yourself a bottle of BTAC a year at MSRP? Probably won’t ever happen with the distributors having such a big lobbying presence, but it’s nice to dream...
  22. I have an OF SiB store pick from Twin Liquors at the old 90 proof. I’m a fan and I’m excited to try the 100 proof and barrel proof varieties that are coming out. I haven’t had the 1910 yet, but have heard that it’s a more complex version of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked.
  23. If you ever find yourself in San Antonio, Alamo City Liquors (three locations) has their Larceny store pick in stock all the time. It’s like $26. I have one, but haven’t opened it yet.
  24. The Larceny Barrel Proof I scored this week was from a Twin Liquors ($58). I hit up the manager and he remembered me from a few weeks ago when I picked up an Old Forester Single Barrel store pick from him a few weeks ago. I saw a GTS in a little independent store a few weeks ago for $399. I didn’t pull the trigger and then after some research I saw that’s actually not a bad secondary price for that bottle. I know that Alamo City Liquors has a store pick of Blanton’s on order, but they’ve been waiting on it since September and who knows now when it will come in. I’m hoping the leg work I’ve done at that store pays off and I get a call when it comes in.
