  1. Scored a Larceny Barrel Proof this morning from Twin Liquors. Add that to the EH Taylor Small Batch and Redwood Empire Lost Monarch I found on Wednesday, it turned out to be a pretty productive hunting week.
  2. I have a Twin Liquors around the corner from me that I frequent once or twice a week to peek in and see what they have. There’s one guy there who I’ve chatted up there a few times and last week when I went in there I asked what they had in the back and he brought up an Ezra 7. Paid $40 for it (which I believe is MSRP). Combination of luck and making friendly conversation with the staff. You definitely strike out way more than you find something allocated.
  3. I’m gonna be up in Austin this week. Any suggestions on the best Total Wine location or any other good locations to find bourbon?
  4. Wait times.....in-store experience....hahaha.
  5. What are the wait times like these days? I may be popping in later this week from out of town for my first in-store experience.
  6. Picked up an Old Ezra 7 today from Twin Liquors. I’ve read some good reviews, but have any of y’all tried it before?
  7. I loved how it was Mike D and Ad Rock just up on stage telling their story. I had expected just the typical music documentary style, but I really enjoyed hearing everything straight from the horse’s mouth.
  8. Any fan of the Beasties will thoroughly enjoy this doc. Great backstory to the group and includes highs and lows throughout their career. Several poignant moments for MCA are sprinkled in, so give it a watch if you want to know more about their history.
  9. Picked up a 1792 BiB, Knob Creek 9yr Single Barrel and Larceny Single Barrel store pick today. I’m thinking of cracking open the 1792 first.
  10. Haha! I didn’t know that. And around and around we go!
  11. Nacho won’t die. He is referenced in Saul’s first episode in Breaking Bad even though he never appears in the series (https://breakingbad.fandom.com/wiki/Nacho_Varga). I’m guessing he takes out Lalo by the end of next season and replaces him in the Cartel.
  12. Yup, had a few pours of it last night. I have OF 1920 and OF Rye, so this was a nice addition to the lineup.
  13. I picked up an Old Forester Single Barrel store pick today (Twin Liquors). Anyone tried this one before?
  14. I’ve started kicking around ideas for mine. Based on what I currently have, this is what I’m thinking of starting with: 4 oz Eagle Rare 2 oz OF 1920 2 oz Maker’s Mark Private Select 2 oz Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (C919) 2 oz Russell Reserve SiB Some other stuff I have on hand that I haven’t decided to add includes: McKenna 10, Buffalo Trace, Weller SR, OF Rye, Redemption Wheated, Early Times BiB, OGD 114 and Balcones Baby Blue.
  15. If you can find it, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof will run you about $80. One of the best rated bourbons of 2019. If he’s a fan of high proof then he should like this one.
  16. Had one last night. About to make another tonight. On my second one of the evening. Made with Weller SR
  17. I’ve given up trying to find Eagle Rare in the wild, so I just buy it online. I see it pretty regularly online for $30-35/bottle plus shipping. Just buy a few bottles so it makes the shipping cost worthwhile.
  18. Well with many of these restaurants likely to go under, it’s not too much of a stretch to think that could happen here in the future.
  19. Breaking my rye cherry tonight with some Old Forester rye. Wanted to go with a more budget option before moving up to the pricier bottles, but in my experience OF delivers great bang for your buck.
  20. I hope this show doesn’t go the same route as Trueblood where it started making every character supernatural. Once everyone became a vampire/werewolf/shape shifter/fairy, etc. the show went to shit.
  21. I tried calling the Stonewerks by my house (they carry Blanton’s) and was told they wouldn’t be doing anything like that. Could have just gotten a hold of the wrong person to talk to, so I’ll probably try calling again.
  22. I found some fun YouTube reviewers called Bourbon Junkies that were pretty entertaining. I think they’re based on Michigan, but they have several great reviews of a wide variety of bourbon and seem to know their stuff. They don’t take themselves too seriously and appear to be genuine enthusiasts. Feel free to check them out if you’re so inclined.
  23. I have a Private Select from Alamo City Liquors and enjoy it quite a bit.
  24. Anyone ever tried Early Times BiB? I read several good reviews of it as a quality lower priced bourbon. I picked some this afternoon, but curious what you guys think about it.
