  1. I don't see Texas as a serious contender here, but that can't be bad news for Texas. See if you can't get him to watch some of the season and how it plays it for everyone. See if other NIL coffers get depleted and the price becomes worth it to Texas. Etc., and so on. If Miami is his play, then getting him to watch some of the season would be helpful. Beck's plain as grits, still hurt to some degree and they don't have a solid backup. They lost everyone with starting experience at RB, WR, and TE. They have James Brockermeyer starting for them at C. On defense, they have one guy with 5.5 sacks returning and another with 3.5. They lost 8 defensive starters. They open the season with Notre Dame, Bethune Cookman, South Florida and Florida in the first 21 days. They don't play Clemson, GT, or Duke, all of whom should be good, but they do get Louisville, FSU, Syracuse, SMU, NC State, and Pitt, so the ACC tilts may not be total crap.
  2. I understand and generally agree with the sentiments in this post. That said, I do think being dismissive of the "conspiracy theory" that the guy was set up is hasty. Whatever side of the political spectrum anyone trends, pause has to be given these days to dismissing damned near anything immediately. How many Onion and Babylon Bee headlines over the last decade have then ultimately proven true or become true later? I know someone was tracking them at some point and both had hit rates in the double digits, which is disturbing to me. Case in point here, the female was a UU student, right? Now that he's being suspended and subsequently preparing to transfer, she withdraws the case, which was not a criminal case at any point. It's still farfetched as a set-up but it just got closer to not being totally unbelievable. I'm assuming that, what it really is, is an ex that got pissed off for some reason and knew that this would hurt the guy substantially. Anything benefitting or harming a school was likely a complete nonfactor in her decision-making and she wasn't put up to it by anyone else. Probably. Right?
  3. People follow silents because they represent hope and reasons for optimism about a class. If they didn't find them entertaining in some form, they wouldn't be following recruiting. I don't put much stock into them any more than the rest of us on this board, but they don't bother me. They don't bother any of the rest of you, either, or you wouldn't be here.
  4. I generally agree with each aspect of this post. The one nit to pick is that Texas can maintain a competitive advantage in NIL, should it choose to do so. Having more access to capital than most other programs is a competitive advantage for the few schools who find themselves in that situation.
  5. I have a very high opinion of Bobby, but this post is lame. I'm going to go over there and call it out if others haven't. This no more "big boy" of a cycle than the last few. It's been established that you're clearly wrong regarding what Twin Peaks was all about, unsurprisingly. What hasn't been addressed is why you think the demographics of this forum would suggest an interest in show for "teen girls" from the '90s?
  6. I figure everyone living in Austin on this board must have had the Moonshine CFS by now, by your post reads like it might have been a first. We stay near there for games in the fall and wind up going to Moonshine 2-3 times a year because of it. I think their CFS is one of the best you can find anywhere.
  7. I think Wisner will see his workload diminished over the course of the year as Baxter gets comfortable and maybe some of the other guys as well. I made my guess on his receptions based on his touches being front loaded out of necessity. That considered, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a late round pick when he comes out.
  8. Texas isn’t landing Atkinson. It’s a nice fantasy, but that shit ain’t happening.
  9. Swing-and-a-miss Steve better get his shit together. I haven’t seen this many consecutive whiffs since watching Sydney Carton’s last at bat at the company softball game.
  10. It’s a worthless skill. I have no issues with a man not knowing how to keep a scorebook. The act of teaching that has probably driven more people from the sport than 1-0 pitching duals from the 80’s. Know how to knot a tie? Sure. Change a tire? Sure. Read a compass? Paint a house? Mow the lawn? Shave? All sure. Keep a scorebook? Who gives a flying fuck? Also, if we’d have polled the board with “which poster is most likely to extol the virtues of baseball scorekeeping?”, I feel like 90%+ of the respondents would have had Wulaw listed first on their ballots.
  11. Not only is baseball scorekeeping an incredibly worthless skill, it’s also really fucking boring. I’ll see someone with a scorebook at a game occasionally, and they’re always alone, and probably have been their entire life. It’s got to be a bad sign as a parent if your kid really somehow takes to scorekeeping. No grandkids probably coming from that end of the tree.
  12. Have they given an estimate on when Pena’s pussy will be fully healed and he can return to the lineup?
  13. One of the more entertaining things, to me at least, about your behavior is that your timing is often impeccable. I saw this post and laughed out loud. It’s fucking perfect.
  14. FWIW, the Miami mods told their 247 board that Miami is not expected to land Johnson.
  15. Also, carnies. Small hands and smell like cabbage and such.
  16. I mostly just hate white skill position players. Otherwise, I mostly love whitey, being one and all. And others, most others. Not midgets, hillbillies, okies, or pinkos, of course, but most others.
  17. The thing about Lockett and Ffrench is, if you're going to pay what Texas is paying to land them on the roster, you're not going to let those assets collect dust and then hit the portal. They're being paid like starters because the staff thinks they're going to be starters, ultimately. I expect them to get plenty of touches against weak opponents and in garbage time, and then at least one will get serious action as time goes by or as injuries occur, or both. I'm personally not a big fan of Moore. He had too many whiffs or drops last year and then he held a gun to the program's head late in the December portal. Maybe he has a great year, but I'm fine if he doesn't. My view is that, if they really valued Niblett in that role, he wouldn't have been worked in the secondary during the spring. It's not like depth was an issue at Star or Safety. I don't expect him to play much outside of special teams.
  18. I do think it is more entertaining when someone doesn't get the joke, than when they do.
  19. Well, well, well. I've posted a thread on the football board thinking about the 2025 passing game. You and every other other Alan Jackson-loving hillbilly on this site can go there and make your bold prediction as soon as you'd like:
  20. The Texas offense of 2024 produced 357 receptions across 16 games for 4,460 yards and 40 TDs. 12.5 YPC is middling (45th) and 279 YPG is solid (14th). Here are the individual receiving stats from last year (Receptions/Yards/YPR/TDs): 1) Gunnar Helm - 60/786/13.1/7 2) Matthew Golden - 58/987/17.0/9 3) Tre Wisner - 44/311/7.1/1 4) Jaydon Blue - 42/368/8.8/6 5) DeAndre Moore - 39/456/11.7/7 6) Isaiah Bond - 34/540/15.9/5 7) Ryan Wingo - 29/472/16.3/2 8 ) Silas Bolden - 23/267/11.3/1 9) Juan Davis - 9/54/6.0/0 10) Johntay Cook - 8/137/17.1/2 11) Amari Niblack - 5/33/6.6/0 12) Jerrick Gibson - 3/25/8.3/0 13) Ryan Niblett - 3/24/8.0/0 Bold is returning. 118 catches/1,288 yards/10.9/10. We know Sarkisian loves to throw to backs and TEs as part of the passing game. We know that last year wasn't the best showing for a receiving corps under Sarkisian. We know that many here believe that the passing game this year, with Manning at the helm, will be more productive than last season. So, put some numbers to it. All of the shittalkers about Jaggy McJaggerson having a big year can now let the rest of us know what they really believe. I've listed the eligible WRs, TEs, and TBs on the roster for 2025 below, with my thoughts on production. QB - I'm betting on 17 games, 5,200 yards and 45 TDs for the QB room. That's all divvied up below. WR: -DeAndre Moore - 48/570/11.9/5 -Ryan Wingo - 60/1,200/20.0/11 -Emmett Mosley - 40/550/13.8/6 -Jaggy McJaggerson - 9/145/16.1/1 -Kaliq Lockett - 24/460/19.2/4 -Daylan McCutcheon - 14/210/15.0/1 -Jamie Ffrench - 20/350/17.5/4 -Michael Terry - 0/0/0/0 -Aaron Butler - 0/0/0/0 -Ryan Niblett - 0/0/0/0 215/3,485/6.2/32 TE: -Jack Endries - 50/600/12.0/6 -Jordan Washington - 14/195/13.9/1 -Spencer Shannon - 0/0/0/0 -Will Randle - 0/0/0/0 -Emaree Winston - 5/55/11.0/0 -Nick Townsend - 8/120/15.0/1 77/970/12.6/8 RB: -Tre Wisner - 37/333/9.0//2 -Cedric Baxter - 20/240/12.0/2 -Jerrick Gibson - 13/91/7.0/0 -Christian Clark - 9/81/9.0/1 -James Simon - 0/0/0/0 -Rickey Stewart - 0/0/0/0 79/745/9.4/5 I see a big year for Wingo and diminishing snaps as the seasons wears on for Moore due to drops and the freshmen gaining traction. RBs are going to be occasionally banged up, so plenty of touches for the top 4. Maybe the freshmen TEs also show flashes while the Endries fella is a very good. I expect almost nothing from Terry as a freshman, and Butler will remain in the doghouse while Niblett continues to have one foot out the door. Anyone else want to take a shot at the numbers or offer their thoughts?
  21. You’re onto something here. We need Helobious to step up and get those forearms back to work. You whine a lot. @Red Five basically ruined this entire site’s outlook when it comes to Gibson. Dude hates that motherfucker. We’re all with you. SC is a borderline pariah here, but he nailed that one post.
  22. I am now absolutely cheering for Texas to go after Estrada. It’s a win-win for this board. If he sucks, we get to mock Helobious. If he’s awesome, it emboldens Helobious to get even more outlandish with his nonsense, and it helps Texas.
  23. Are you saying that Denver Harris' mother might have been a problem, sir?
  24. From a production perspective, Mateer's placement makes sense to me. I get the "but the competition" aspect, but the guy put up amazing numbers. I think he's going to miss last year's mark by a wide margin due to absolutely abysmal skill players (outside of Ott) and a patchwork OL that didn't even get to play together in the spring.
  25. I actually think the list, at first glance, is pretty good. -Sellers at #1 is fine. He's a terrific player. His team is going to suck, so this will wind up looking like a bad rating, but he's a stud nonetheless. -Hill Jr. at #2 is well done and deserved. I think he could be the defensive player of the year. -There are 3 aggie players in the top 25, but only one of them still plays at ATM. Overton, he of the preacher father who Jimbo built a church for during his recruitment, is coming off a good year at Bama and headed for potentially big things. Stowers will be a top 3 round pick at TE out of Vandy in the next draft. Will "The Blanket" Lee is #25 on the list. Manny Navarro is a pretty level-headed writer when he's not discussing Miami. He must have looked at the list and thought, "Oh, shit, I haven't thrown the aggies a bone. I don't want to deal with all of their plaintive bullshit in social media. I need to find someone on their roster. This Lee guy doesn't look terrible, I guess. I'll pick him." -No one in the top 25 for Kentucky, Arkansas, Miss State or Mizzou. Missouri gets a guard listed in the "next 10". -I assumed we'd lazily see Harold Perkins in the top 25, but Navarro was able to control himself to some degree. He put him in the next 10 because, hey, Arkansas is still on that LSU schedule.
