  1. I hadn’t clicked on this thread in months. I already stated why I clicked now. Your stan efforts replaced what I thought might be actual news. Your entire post here is thoughtless projection. Those schools have better QBs right now than that mercenary.
  2. I keep seeing this thread pop up. “What is this drug addled, malcontented criminal doing now?” clicks thread … ”Oh, it’s just @TreatyOak stanning for this selfish loser and other idiotic shit around that. “ This guy took close to a million dollars from boosters at Texas, flushed it down the toilet, became a cancer in the locker room and then talked as much shit about Texas as he could on his way out the door, including attempting to poison the well with recruits and transfers he knew. Fuck him. I am enjoying the premise that he remains unsigned with a new school. Someone will eventually bring him in, thinking they can fix him, and he’ll blow them up from the inside as well. Redemption story? Right. GTFO.
  3. I’m rooting for chaos and we’re getting it. This particular recruitment and player were noted at the time to be the equivalent of trying to contain Wildfire by those who know their shit and cover recruiting and CFB. Tennessee blatantly ignored a number of red flags, or they were too stupid to understand them, and went all in on this player when he was overrated by the services to start. He’s not a “good kid”, sorry. He turns 21 at the start of the coming season. He lets his dad do his bidding, but he’s fully involved and knows exactly what’s up. This shit was known during his recruitment. Also, he’s the fucking QB. This isn’t what QBs who are worth a fuck do in this day and age. Texas has had several grown men and their groups handle themselves with negotiations quietly and quickly, same for other schools as well. This shit is predictably fucked up precisely because the player isn’t a “good kid”. He’s a mercenary and he doesn’t give one fuck about anyone else. Lincoln Riley, for all of his flaws, typically knows a good QB when he sees one. I doubt he goes after Iamaleava because, frankly, the guy sucks. It’s laughable he wants a raise. If he was at Texas and Texas had Owens and Lacey behind him, I assume they’d tell him to “not the door hit ya where the good lord split ya” and move right along.
  4. Mosley is well and good, but he’s not the sure thing they’re coveting entering the portal, right? They’ve got significant money earmarked for someone.
  5. I remember reading the recaps of his games on the Hornfans recruiting forum. Hell, maybe it was GoBig12, I don’t know. But they were as covered in dramatic hyperbole as any that have ever been produced. William Wallace hasn’t been as glorified. Then I read that he was short, playing 2A and probably getting drafted by MLB. “Well, cross him off the list, then.” Then that dude showed up years later and was a God send for the program. Perhaps the stories were all true. Would like to have seen him, in hindsight.
  6. In 8th grade, I never left the field. On defense I played what our coach called “monster back” and it was basically a strong safety spot sitting with the LBs. In reality, it meant just go tackle the ball. We played a team with a kid who was 6’2”, 240 and meaner than a junkyard dog. The trick was to charge for him as soon as the ball was snapped. I think he had something like the Henry 43/189 game. I had a headache for weeks.
  7. I have that as well, courtesy of @HenryJames thinking he’s funny. Sadly, I did actually read it out of desperation at one point when I was out of books. At first, I thought you thinking about Blue Coconut slushies from Sonic and has just never had a snow cone before. “Well, he’s not wrong in that context, really. “ Then, you follow up with this cinnamon comment and I realize that you’re nothing more than some sort of desperate madman. $100. We have a deal.
  8. He literally threw our center at our QB for a sack/fumble. I’ve told the story many times, but I’ve never seen anything like it.
  9. I remember making up the story about Princely Umanalamnanamanlyman spiking the volleyball into Jimbo's face at the pool party and then Umanalalymanly getting kicked out of the party. Seeing that come to real life with one of the QBs hitting Wiggins in the face is fucking hilarious.
  10. I watched VY in HS like 7-8 times. Never seen anything like it before or since. Whatever film they have out there of him, that's the best.
  11. I think that dude sucks. I feel like no one actually watches these guys play. He was part of why they were just okay last season and never should have made the playoffs.
  12. Another spring practice update from Carter Karels. At the end, I can sort of feel him trying to admit that having to go to these practices is spinning him towards slitting his veins in a bathtub. Highlights: -The QB play, against air, mind you, looks like Mike Elko's ass pressed firmly against a mirror. -One of the QBs almost literally knocked Holmon Wiggins the fuck out. -The WRs aren't big, but they're probably faster and quicker than last year, per Carter. By that, he uses Bussey as part of his theory and yet Bussey wasn't even working out due to hamstring issues. -They've had multiple jaggers return to practice. Daniels, who probably can't clear 5.0 in the 40. Chappell, who has a tire track tattoo on his torso as a reminder of how often he was torched before going down last season. Scooby Doo. Some CB I've never heard of as well. -After getting lubed up for Concepcion, Concepcion immediately collapses into rubble with a lower leg injury that caused him to stay out of the rest of the drills.
  13. Deal. Although I prefer half mango/half peach for my snow cone, should I win. You've been kissed by the fire, sir, but that shouldn't make you bitter. No. Stop squatting to pee and tell me what you'd like to wager. I have a Manny Diaz Texas football if we need a baseline. I have a first print edition of Meat on the Hoof as well. Not even close to mint condition. I also have a number of antique clocks that no longer work, but are accurate twice daily. We can take this wherever you'd like.
  14. I could have been responding to anybody about the subject of Hicks being an idiot who should know better. Quoting whoever, I guess you in this instance, was using it as a vehicle, not an affirmation or rebuke. The only thing I took personally was the thoughtless and witless messaging on "huuuuuurrrrrrr durrrrrrrrr corches are stupid" rather taking the time to actually gather the point. Too many times, I hold the patrons of this board to a higher standard than a decade+ of interactions should sanely allow. We're being disputatious at this point, as boring as that implies.
  15. I offered a bet for whatever agreed rewards if the guy goes over 750 in any season while on UT’s campus. We should make a wager if you’re excited about Jaggy.
  16. I read a book called “Waiting For Your Cat To Bark” once. Many of the principles and concepts taught within still apply to digital conversion, really. Anywho. Getting one’s head around basic do’s and don’t’s when speaking to the media or in a public setting isn’t some Herculean task. Don’t make it out to be voodoo or alchemy solely because it’s beyond your personal reach, Rimbo. I’m no fan of high school coaches and their mental and emotional capacities, so believe what you want. The original point was simply that a recruited 5 star with a helicopter dad that understands the arena should not have been dumb enough to have said what he said, but he did anyway. This board’s primal, tedious need to diverge off onto boring tangents can get fucked on this one.
  17. Based on what he eventually said, yes, Lotus of Siam is a great choice. I’ve been many times and the food will not disappoint. It also won’t cost an arm and a leg and the vibe will be good for a family including underage kids. That said, I don’t see it as a must every time. To each their own. We mix it in. With everyone I ever go with, the only two musts are a strip steakhouse, of the highest quality, and Piero’s, which is unequaled in terms of Vegas mobbed up Italian. I am pondering buying tickets for a long Vegas weekend with my wife right now just thinking about this. When I am with my wife only, we also always go to Le Cirque. Going with dudes would be weird. Going with a SO, it is the most certain guarantee of pussy afterwards outside of being a teenager or using Rohypnol. Because I always stay in Aria, I always wind up at Javier’s in an unplanned way. They have the best queso flameado on the planet. Their margaritas are also at the top of the mark. Anyway, for future reference to others.
  18. Local high school coaches are taught PR framework for public/media speaking purposes. Is this new information for you guys? Irrespective of their personal views, they know how to handle a microphone, normally. Coach's kids are expected to know better than the average kid regarding many facets of the game, hence that attribute being valued in recruiting evaluations. But let's not let that interrupt a good honking session around how fucking dumb and animalistic high school coaches are.
  19. 1) It's concerning that, in Hick's mind, a direct synonym for the word bitch is "woman". I didn't realize that our resident incel, BO&W, play interior DL for ATM. 2) This a coach's son. In the year 2025. How fucking dumb does this dude have to be in order to say something like that at a podium?
  20. They're doing well and Bobby's been bootstrapping as they get there, last I heard.
  21. There is no true terrain for Tech to take and hold in this game that Knight hasn't already taken. You can't move Lubbock and make it more desirable. You can't improve on the surroundings and non-sports experiences. You can't brag on academics or offer branding value. The only thing they can offer is a lot of money. That works at times, but if it worked a ton, their team would look a hell of a lot better than it does. They do not remind me of Marlo Stanfield at all. They're Brother Mouzone. Hired muscle that can be a pain in someone's ass, but a side player never reaching the big stage. ATM is Ziggy. Come on.
  22. "really nice" doesn't imply Lotus of Siam to me. Excellent dinner, not really nice though. "really nice" could be almost any steakhouse on The Strip. Hard to go wrong there. "really nice" could also mean somewhere like Le Cirque in The Bellagio. I've had amazing dinners there. French, dressy, expensive, but also absolutely terrific. Same can be said for Bouchon at The Venetian or Restaurant Guy Savoy at Casear's, but I think Le Cirque wins by several lengths, personally. Those are all truly upscale, hoity toity restaurants, to be clear.
  23. Ohio State's non-corporate NIL stack for the 2024 season was just less than $25M. I do not know what their corporate side was. Texas' non-corporate NIL stack for the 2024 season was just less than $25M. Corporate was trending towards 8 figures. One side bragged to the media about it and the other went about its business. There are rumors that OSU isn't going to reach those numbers this cycle, although they're not going anywhere. Texas' non-corporate NIL stack for the 2025 season surpasses that of 2024, and the same will be true of corporate. Texas is not middle class on this stuff. Neither is OSU, Oregon, or Michigan. Don't expect that to change. If someone brings a knife, these groups will bring a gun. If someone puts one of theirs in the hospital, they will put everyone else in the morgue. That's both the Chicago way and today's NIL landscape.
