  1. Two things can be true at the same time. I can enjoy the Turntine commit and still enjoy making fun of the futility that is the Texas Tech football program. Hell, your whole athletic program. You’ve never won a fucking thing that anyone cares about and Texas has owned you in every sport worth discussing. See softball: 2025, as the most recent example. Anyways, I was just posting in agreement with you. Why on earth would Texas Tech ever want to play daddy again in anything? You made a great point.
  2. When I was 22, straight out of college, I got a commission check for $9k in one pay period. When I deposited the check, I kept $3k of it in order to see what that amount of money looked like. I’d seen pots in gambling at gatherings get above $2k, but never higher. I went back to my office and put it down in front of me and counted it like 4 times with the door closed. Getting offered $5M as a guy who just turned 17, I don’t know how you don’t take that money and never look back. I don’t think that is a low IQ move. That part of the story isn’t something that causes judgment on my end, at least. They’re going to play him as a true freshman. That money doesn’t sit the bench. He’s not going to get any time to develop and he’s technically terrible with no hip flexibility. He’s probably ruined his career by making the choice he’s made, so hopefully he’s careful with that $3+M that he winds up with after taxes.
  3. Why on earth would you ever want to play Texas again? We all agree that that would be fucking ludicrous from a tech fan perspective. We beat you guys like a borrowed mule for the better part of a century. I’d say good riddance to daddy treating me that way as well.
  4. There are people involved with recruiting who have been saying that this guy is bad news for months. You’re letting the player and his family off the hook.
  5. I don’t mean pull an offer. I mean state openly the minute Tech is involved that if the player entertains them at all, Texas is out. See above. Not sure questioning the past month, but just noting the reality of Tech’s behavior in the market and what that should mean for Texas any time they’re involved.
  6. This is now the 2nd recruitment, at least, in which McGuire has leveraged a recruit’s status to make a fool out of Sarkisian and Texas. I’m not sure what the recourse is, but off the top of my head, telling a recruit if they’re going to visit Tech in any way shape or form, Texas will remove their offer seems like a possible path. Couldn’t do that with most places, but Lubbock and Tech are special circumstances due to the shithole, dumpster fire nature of that place and regime.
  7. Nothing ahead of 7/1/25 is subjected to House compliance/clearinghouse/rev share allocation shit.
  8. He signed the deal before July 1st. No impact on rev share. It’s all Double Eagle, it sounds like. Or maybe that’s just year 1.
  9. Fire the agent? What? I want to hire that guy and see what he can get me in the open market. He must be some sort of wizard or warlock or some shit. Wow. I didn’t realize it was that bad. Texas probably stays aggressive on Utu if they’d have had better clarity. Still, like Mack with Perrilloux, signs of seriously bad character and playing Texas for leverage were there all along.
  10. Ojo was apparently not very straight with the staff. I’m interested to see how interested they are in him down the line when he inevitably enters the portal. They were interested in Hudson or Stewart with similar histories.
  11. This is correct. TOF is not attempting to make a profit. Just no longer working as a 501(c)3 since House excluded that as a legitimate vehicle going forward.
  12. You referenced the “absolute” tone, so not a knock, but sure, Sarkisian and team have signed enough now that ultimately being perfect on hit rate becomes impossible. Regarding Campbell, I might be alone on this one, but given that he was a 5 star as an OG, I am inclined to give both the services credit for still rating him that highly and the staff if he winds up getting drafted in any round, but for sure any round better than 6. He got a low round draft grade last cycle, allegedly, so he’s got a shot to hit the mids if he has a great year. 2:15
  13. You act as if the posters in this thread had previously been hyping Ojo as some sort of next version of Banks. Maybe I missed that. You can go back pretty far in this thread and find references to guys we trust, like Gerry, not being as high on Ojo as the rankings would suggest. It’s not going to be posters on this board who hammer Ojo from the #1 OL ranking to finishing somewhere in the national 150-ish overall range. Are you implying that when those rankings change that it’s a conspiracy among the ratings services? Or are you just too stupid to follow the logic knot you’re tying in some sort of pathetic effort to seem contrarian?
  14. Will be buying it and loving it in all of its imperfect glory.
  15. Dude is 6’8”, 245. I didn’t realize that. He’s huge.
  16. There’s some notion that Lee is a legitimate flip candidate. Guess we’ll see over the next few months. If Texas misses on Ojo, that at least frees up earmarked money for someone else on the OL (not for other positions). Whoever referenced Sheppard with Ojo nailed it for me. I want him for signing day noise and if he really embraces the developmental experience and becomes a player down the line, awesome. Is that worth $1M to open? No, it is not. Good luck with Tech if that is the path they select. The family does recognize there’s a gap in track records for line development between Tech and Texas. Do they realize the gap is Grand Canyon-sequel? Who knows. I’m still rooting to land the guy, but for the thoughts I espoused and not because he’s some sort of can’t miss prospect. Also, the guy lost every rep at the Rivals camp a few weeks ago. He’s expected to plummet in the rankings. He’s going to wind up as a mid-level 4 star. The hype he adds to Texas’ class in the end isn’t going to be massive. For Tech, everyone covering it will oversell it through signing day.
  17. This is a highly skilled and time-honored technique, sir. I once saw an A-back shut down All State DE, and future aggie, Steve McKinney in a high school game. Baller shit. Gerry has always had a low opinion of him as a prospect for a multitude of reasons. His behavior as a recruit and attitude about where he is in his development are part of it. With Tech putting an offer out there of roughly double what Texas has discussed with the Ojos, maybe it’s a bullet dodged. Paying major money for a guy who won’t see the field for several years is always a dangerous gamble. What a stunning development for a North Shore recruit.
  18. 247 apparently has him at 6.05 and 205. That dude must have been wearing lifts and a ruck vest when they measured him.
  19. He’s a small LB that didn’t make it past initial evaluations with the Texas staff.
  20. You can still apparently get a Street & Smith’s, because Steele has them in his forecast tracker/ranker thing that he does. Maybe it has to be ordered? I don’t know, haven’t seen one in a few years.
  21. Yeah, I got mine from B&N on Saturday. You can see, as your error shows, that he had it more hastily put together this year. I get it, he wants to wait until all of the transfer info is processed and I don't mind it, but there is an element of sloppiness that wasn't there before. He has Malik Muhammad going in the first round and then doesn't list him in the draft eligible CB list of 65. For numerous teams, he has zero recruits in for spring (IFS), including Texas. That dude loves ranking OU and ATM. It's comical. I've said all offseason that OU has a better team than folks think, while everyone is severely overrating ATM's roster. Steele has OU at #9, which is idiotic. Their roster isn't a top 10 roster. Their schedule is pretty tough. Their ceiling is 8 wins. I forget where he ranked ATM, but he ranked them. Then when you read through his ATM page, he basically breaks everything down to "trust The Elk". He overrates York hilariously. Overall, it's still a very fun and informative magazine.
  22. Kosi Okpala - Breaker of Dark Streaks, Uplifter of Fucktarded Forums The guy has great size and I assume is from a west African family, which usually translates pretty fucking well to the Texas football program as a culture fit. I'll take it.
