  1. Oh good, a chance to rile up the Surly Curry Mafia. Every time I get a visit, I get to hear about how cricket is allegedly the most watched sport in the world. Every time I eventually have to end the conversation with “no one gives a fuck what some brits and 1.4 billion Indians are doing, man. “
  2. Had the game on mute last night as we ate dinner with my visiting in-laws and kiddos in an adjacent dining room. My FIL is a Brit and a former sailor. He’s pounding scotch and extolling the virtues of soccer and cricket as halftime rolls on and I try to ignore boring shit about cricket. I noticed a lot of longhorn video and then he says “Do you have this on that longhorn channel?” “No. That’s ESPN. “ “Well, it looks like a lot of bloody propaganda for your team, mate. “ “Well good, it’s been too long. “ I then thought “aggies are going to be shitting themselves over this.” Your post delivered.
  3. Are you guys talking about letting Dallas Turner just illegally cheap shot a QB and knock him out of the game? I’d like to see one of his opponents square up on his knee and bend it in backwards, thus ending his football career. If it happened on TV, I’d be howling. If I’m in person in Houston, I will be hooting and clapping as loud as I can. I’d hope he could hear my shrill cackling in the quiet of the stadium as they fit his deformed mess of a leg inside an air cast and loaded him onto a cart.
  4. I don’t even know if there is enough data out there to review this, but it feels like guys that show up out of nowhere and light a SPARQ score up at a camp are destined to be busts. I’m not talking about well known and recruited guys that put up good scores. I’m thinking of the Mike Mamula Specials like Shavers and Kimber. Tyler Owens may not have had a camp score but he surged due to physical stats over on-field stats and fits the same bill.
  5. If you’re not feeling less and less positive about this one as it drags on, good on you. I’m to the point of favoring Bama.
  6. “I want all the ham.” Why do you want to spy one of the most immobile QBs Texas will have faced all year? Christ.
  7. To make it easy, I just went ahead and negged your stanning bullshit of your okie brethren. I got tired of the okie credo of “everyone is doing it, so we got to do it too” in order to justify all of the cheating bullshit in the past. I knew you’d come back with a mealey mouthed argument to further support your dumb fucking take. I hope you keep doing it. Negging you is all I have online. In person, I’d happily punch you in the face and then projectile vomit on your okie kin trying to come to your dipshitted defense of this kind of shit. The okie rationalizing of corruption grew old decades ago. Shit like this is a blight on the sport of college football. Stick with stories about whores. You at least add some value there.
  8. Some of us could have told you about Murphy several days ago. I’m kind of surprised one of the locals didn’t get that one out there, but honestly, how relevant is Murphy to Texas fans at this point? He’s kind of always been more national for anyone watching his film.
  9. I don’t think either of those recruitments are driven by NIL. Not saying it isn’t a factor, but that’s not the big issue. Evans would have signed undramatically if they had kept Fisher and looked okay. Moore has barely been around and he’s about to make his decision. Well, I can honestly say that I don’t ever recall watching something twice just to make sure it sucked. That said, I can’t die on that hill. I realize plenty of folks just didn’t like that season.
  10. Do you want to change the title or should I start a new thread and let this one live in posterity? Someone made the suggestion: Texas A&M Recruiting 2025: Angry, Brutal, Depressing Shit
  11. Never watched it while it was on. Binged it with my wife in the summer of 2020 and thought it was great. Same for True Detective Season 2. Apparently, those shows were trash when released slowly but have been reviewed well when watched in short order. The amount of people I know who watched either of those the traditional way who mock me when I say that is absurd. Also, Breaking Bad is the opposite. It’s almost unwatchable if you binge it because it is just constant, angry, brutal, depressing shit.
  12. Well, yeah. @Tex Pete hasn’t bought his used F150s from anyone but Moffitt’s No Credit No Problem lot in Longview since it opened back in ‘05.
  13. It’s stupid number shit that Jason Higdon used to post as supposed hints to recruiting. It pops up every now and then whenever some $9.95ers reminds someone of it. Posters then feel obligated to make 20 posts of random numbers while, I assume, just howling about it behind their keyboard.
  14. I had a friend down the street whose father found Gallagher to be laugh out loud hilarious and had his recorded specials playing regularly when I'd go over to play. I was like 7 or 8. One night at home, they show a clip of his next big show on Showtime and it's just him hammering fruit into the audience. "Dad, why do people find that funny?" "Who do you know that finds that shit funny?" "Matthew's dad." "He sounds like an idiot and you need to stop going over to his house."
  15. That's a good update. The word during his recruitment was that he was a 5 star talent but a 1 star character. He was involved with the trafficking and using of various drugs during high school, allegedly. Many schools met the player and talked with the coaches at the school. Many schools moved on and never looked back. Fisher and Craig knew the guy's backstory and didn't give one shit because he was highly ranked and they'd managed plenty of shitheads previously. Whoop(s). The bigger joke is that the recruiting services kept this guy's ranking elevated even though it became well known that the recruit had a monumental bust factor. Many times, services will downgrade players due to grades or medical reasons. They're apparently terrified of downgrading guys who are just obviously shitheels that will clearly find ways to fuck up their opportunities at college. Folks can go back and read about some of our takes on Marshall early and throughout the recruiting process. I personally thought it was quite absurd that he had a high ranking and that ATM was excited about him. I didn't think he'd implode as quickly as he did, but given what we know about the Fisher regime at ATM, there was pretty much zero infrastructure for discipline or helping headcases and shitheels. It was inevitable.
  16. This is a terrible take. I mean, it is breathtaking. Under no circumstances should a man's livelihood be threatened or damaged because of decisions he is helping his child make regarding colleges or teams. Get the fuck out of here with that idiotic bullshit.
  17. He is correct. They talk about the absurdity of the ACC GOR deal and how the ACC manages access to it all of the time on XM84. There are so many people that should be fired for what they did with that thing and ESPN.
  18. I imagine Denver Harris to be on a porch somewhere, just north of the ship channel, drinking some form of booze and telling no one in particular about how awesome he still is. Maybe that's five years from now, but it has to be coming, and it warms the cockles of my petty, dark heart.
  19. Welcome to recruiting! Might not be your cup of tea, though. The 60% number is disinformation inflation. That includes walk-ons and lower division players testing the waters with bigger programs. It also includes guys fishing for interest as grad transfers who simply aren't compelling prospects who move on with their degree and life into something different rather than getting one more shot somewhere.
  20. For me, Texas and Washington both seem to know what they're doing with WR evaluations. As such, you have to feel good about Butler as a prospect. That said, the guy hasn't visited and Texas has been talking to him for like two weeks. Surely he picks UW, right? These guys don't know shit. Nahlin's one source on Evans thinks he's the only person involved with NIL for Texas. The view Wells espouses on McKinley reflects a failure to grasp what has transpired in McKinley's recruitment. ATM wasn't a serious player previously, and then they landed him. Oklahoma's Bates was whispering the mother sweet nothings about how he'd handle her son's development with Godly kid gloves. Robinson picked up on that and also used the fact that College Station is 300 miles closer to Lafayette and ATM was the pick. Then NIL was discussed in detail and the McKinleys liked where things sat. Someone is going to have to trump a significant NIL position, assure the mom that her boy is going to be handled and developed gently and warmly, and then get the player comfortable. There is nothing saying Spencer can't do that for ATM as well as anyone else when it is all said and done. Now, Elko being handed a smaller than expected budget and repurposing the NIL promises made to key recruits for roster retention and the portal may honestly be the death knell for ATM in this recruitment if someone else steps up with something akin to what they were first promised. Who wants to bet who the biggest starfucker will be here? It isn't Bo Davis. Is it Sarkisian? Maybe, but I don't believe that. Is it the ATM backers? Not a bad bet. Tennessee is interested in being flashy, but Heupel also seems like he knows what he's doing and they do not run a soft program. McKinley and Co. have had every possible chance to pick broke-ass LSU and they have not. Why is OU completely ruled out? I know they blew out their budget in NIL but surely some O&G idiot can dig around under their coach and help out, right? I stick with ATM for February for McKinley, but that shit could change on a dime, if you will, if someone else wants to get serious.
  21. Oh, get the fuck out of here, Lou. You would jump on that like a trampoline and none of us would blame you for a second. Denbrock should be awesome for Notre Dame as long as Riley Leonard is the third coming of Lamar Jackson. Seems super likely.
  22. I don't even know where the right place is to put this and have been sitting on it for a bit, but this post reminded of it, so Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone. Apparently, Ritz Bit thinks he's in line for a very, very big next move to the point of reaching out through familiars of current aggie players and seeing if they'd be interested in joining him. That's as far as I will go without getting someone pissed at me, but there is a very, very strong chance that we are going to see hilarity ensue early in the new year if the dominos fall the right way.
  23. He's just fucking with everyone at this point. You are underthinking this. Crazier shit has happened. Texas has never been serious about him. If they wanted to be, everyone else involved with going after the guy has pulled the bookshelf on top of themselves at least once.
  24. That's interesting. He was okay for them. Would he be an asset for 15-20 snaps? Seems like it. I assume he's already earmarked for Syracuse, nonetheless. Man, that depth chart is getting uglier and uglier.
  25. Well, then thinking through my prior conversation with a buddy with this information, I guess the bigger takeaway we should have is that Texas really isn't very interested in Bussey. I didn't sense there was some kind of bullishness about an immediate signing. See above. I doubt we will need to do much math on this one. I have a friend that saw Brown recently and watched him in-person. Raves about the dude and thinks he will be criminally underrated. Said he's an animal that loves football and will kill it working with Bo Davis.
