  1. Others have touched on it, but this take is so fucking weak that it is insulting. 1) None of us need to have played football at a high level to be qualified to see this situation straight. Some folks did, of course, but that's an irrelevant element. This kind of cheating can be applied in any industry, sport or politics. We don't need to know what a fucking meathead thinks in order to have an opinion. People go to fucking prison for this in other environments. 2) Coaches spend thousands of hours a year trying to get a feel for what an opponent is going to do against them. I wonder why? Bluntly, if you can't understand that this level of sophistication gives a team a large and fundamental competitive advantage versus their opponent, then you have your head planted firmly up your asshole and none of us can help you. I don't disagree, but I don't care anymore. These guys should not be allowed to compete in the playoffs. It's plain as day that they were cheating, the data backs it up, and people should be pissed the fuck off. I think coaches who feel wronged would feel both outrage and self-interest and I don't blame any of them. It's basically a Black Swan comparison. Mediocristan is where player talents and coaching talents reside. The best player in the nation at a position versus the worst player at the same position at the same level is a big gap, but it isn't the Grand Canyon. It's why Rice could beat Texas and App State could beat Michigan. All of the unknown variables about what 22 moving bodies are about to do still exist as the risk before every snap. Having another team's signals married to their playcalls resides in Extremistan. The gap between knowing virtually everything the opponent is going to do versus the opponent just working off of film study and practices is not Grand Canyon wide, it's galaxies wide. You have suddenly removed most variables, which are virtually incalculable, for all 22 players' actions after the snap. It's no longer the same game being played.
  2. 1) Everyone knows the Orakpo growth story. It's more of an exception, which is why you immediately thought of it. 2) Just stop. You're missing what the first poster was doing and then you're whiffing on SC too. Good grief.
  3. You guys keep saying stuff like this, but last year they went 5-7. They didn't have one of those games. The LSU game was about LSU sleepwalking, not about Jimbo saving anything. The season was a failure. They missed on every chance they had to have the stereotypical "save me!" game that would make them bowl eligible.
  4. For you and I, but not for McElwain, it wasn’t.
  5. Poor Jim McElwain is caught up in another “is it him?” photo controversy. I honestly feel bad for the guy. The fact that CM has no clue who this person is in the photos is confirmation to me that this is the same guy and he’s batshit crazy. This thing gets more absurd by the day. The latest, that Michigan is apparently doubling down and extending the cheating fuck while all of this is going on is about as brazen a fuck you as one could offer to the rest of the CFB world. Fuck these people.
  6. I'm not saying Swinney sucks, but what I will say, because I've always said it and because it is true, is that it is pretty fucking easy to be a dominate force in anything when you are willing to break rules or laws in order to gain a competitive advantage over foes who aren't willing to do the same. All of what Clemson has done is far less impressive when viewed through reality that there's been somewhere between 5-10 schools (depending upon the year) in each recruiting cycle prior to 2022 who were running a black market for buying players while everyone else abstained. It was systemic cheating at scale and Clemson and Swinney were right in the middle of it. We discussed it all as it was ramping in the sport in the 2000's contemporaneously and have continued to do so. So, sure, they had a great run and cheated better than all but Alabama and Georgia during that period. Congrats to all of them. Now that the ground has shifted between Dabo's feet, he's petulantly lashing out in different directions and simultaneously refusing to change. He's late stage Mack at Texas and it is a lot of fun to watch for those of us who follow recruiting and have witnessed his holier-than-thou disingenuous bullshit over the years. Exactly. On the recruiting forum, we talked plenty about Klubnik while he was starring at Westlake. I was relieved that Sarkisian didn't go after him when he got to Texas. I viewed Klubnik as a long strider, buoyed by an all star cast around him and a great system. Sarkisian told folks at the time that he didn't think some of what they saw on film was fixable and he had better options. Maalik Murphy was certainly an interesting alternative. Not sold on him yet either, but ok. One of the gratifying things to witness as a fan of this fine sport is how the media and Swinney have handled the talking points on Klubnik. First, they quietly questioned and mocked the local schools for not pushing harder for Klubnik. Texas in particular. Then, as DJU was stinking it up, the conversation casually turned in the media to "they have another Trevor Lawrence 5 star type with Klubnik waiting in the wings. Might need to push him out there sooner than planned to redirect the season." Then this summer, Swinney goes on a hype tour speaking of Klubnik in absolutely glowing terms. He couldn't speak of Jesus or Mother Theresa with more praise and reverence. I listened to him talk to XM ACC radio at ACC Media Days and it was so over the top that ended up laughing in my car by myself while listening. Now, everyone is basically identifying Klubnik as a problem and many in the media are starting to imply that they'd wondered about him the whole way. Uggghhh, no.
  7. I remember that and laughed out loud at my desk when he committed to OU.

  9. No one knew whether or not MSU would be worth a shit this year, so it would be a regret-free decision to take advantage of the neighboring game. The Mel Tugger scandal occurred after this time.
  10. Oh man. Well done. This seems like an idea that we can pull together with the talent we've assembled on this board. We could easily create a collection of 20, 40 or 50 for just coaches alone. Add in refs, announcers, media, ADs and the possibilities are endless. @TreatyOak
  11. I'm not sure why we should believe that Tiny Vegas is even a target at TE. They might be after him for a different position. There have been murmurs from some corners of the program that Seven Loss Steve has been working on a new offensive scheme unlike any seen before in the sport of football. Apparently he's tinkering with the notion of harnessing a catapult-like fixture onto the back of Spencer Shannon's shoulder pads from which they'll insert a diminutive figure and the football and then let Shannon launch the Emmanuel Lewis-esque teammate violently down the field towards the end zone. Tiny Vegas sounds like the perfect candidate for that role.
  12. Biff Poggi is the Head Coach at Charlotte. He's done as well there in his inaugural season as his name would imply. Things started off well this summer when he was only asked 3 questions at the AAC Media Days. See for yourself: Don't let that suit fool you. That's not normally how he rolls. In fact, this is how you can find him on the sidelines (and simply most of the time he's awake): Now, I don't mean to sound like some sort of snob, but I cannot imagine having someone dressed like that representing my alma mater on television. It has to be a disgusting embarrassment for anyone with a Charlotte degree that's paying any attention. College football is the front porch of your university? Charlotte's front porch has a fat old man, nearly shirtless and reeking of cigarettes, body odor, and Jim Beam, holding a shotgun in a rocking chair and screaming obscenities at anyone who walks by and steps anywhere near his lawn. I assume they're seeing applications to the school plummet this fall. But, with this guy getting away with looking like that, they must suddenly be kicking ass on the field, right? Hardly. Charlotte is 2-6 with a win over FCS/D2/HBCU whatever it is South Carolina State and East Carolina (10-7). Tom Herman and FAU just buttfucked them in public last Friday night, 38-16. It gets comically worse, however. This guy has lost his shit in multiple interviews this season. He came unhinged again last Friday night with a sideline reporter, ranting about his players, between the 3rd and 4th quarter of the FAU beating: In the aftermath of that game, the guy has gone on to suspend a large portion of his team, students on scholarship at the university, for performance. Not doing something against team rules, or something criminal, or for slacking academics, no, this guy is suspending starters on his 2-6 team for performance. It's hard to feel bad for this asshat in any way, shape or form. He was a henchman on Jim Harbaugh's staff after leveraging a star player, Blake Corum, to get that gig. How he was interviewed and someone at Charlotte thought "Yeah, I'll risk my career trajectory on this guy for this job, here and now." is beyond my reach. They were also talking to Barry Odom at the time, and passed on him for this lackey of Jim Harbaugh's. Odom wound up getting the UNLV job and only already has that program bowl eligible in year 1. Anyway, I'm simultaneously flabbergasted and entertained that this guy has a gig and is actively imploding. Charlotte goes to 3-6 Tulsa with a bunch of suspended guys staying home, then they host 6-2 Memphis, 4-4 Rice and finish at 4-4 USF. If this guy closes out 2-10, and I'm in the admin at Charlotte, I'm cutting my losses and sending his fat old ass back to Ann Arbor.
  13. The Rice numbers are pretty stunning to me along with GaTech. Wow. I have a nephew applying early to Rice today or yesterday and, even though he's a direct descent of 3 Rice alumni, has great scores and grades, I'd thought "you're a white kid from the middle class burbs of Houston, man, you have no chance." Maybe I was wrong.
  14. "Talent" has been a siren song for Texas fans, me included, for far too long. I know you know the perils of basing expectations and predictions around the notion of "talent" as the lead driver for your outlook. The front 4 goes 2 deep with good to excellent talent, no doubt. I don't know who is still hurt and who isn't, but if Nolan and Regis are hurt, that does ding it some. You're being generous with your view of the "front 7" though. Cooper's excellent. Russell is fine if he can play. York is someone you guys have to play and are now equating the idea that him starting as a true freshman means he must be really good. I don't think most folks watching your games who aren't aggies see it that way.
  15. Bro, sick burn, bro! Even if you showed this exchange to your mother, I'm not sure she'd confirm for you that you'd "dunked on" somebody. Here is your original post: You're taking the position that this statement doesn't imply that you're being critical of the staff and those takes. You've moved the goalposts in two follow-up posts, after getting called on the notion of mocking the takes of two true freshmen who are redshirting, to "I'm just saying they haven't proven anything, guys". No. that's not what you were doing. Also, I don't give one fuck if Will Randle never plays a down, doesn't hold the door for ladies, likes Nickelback, and steals candy from little kids. The guy has already done the heavy-lifting the staff needed from him. So he's already "proven" something.
  16. It wasn’t a straw man. If we’re talking rhetorical tactics, you floated a trial balloon. I popped it for the idiocy that it was and now you’re looking to move the goalposts. Measurables are great for discussion. Handwringing over them is tedious.
  17. This is the first offense worth a fuck that ATM has played all season. Every other opponent has either been comically inept or tragically flawed.
  18. I have plenty of concerns that I can cite with this staff. Roster building isn’t one of them. Beyond that, is this Bevo’s first week to follow recruiting? Perhaps the vaunted recruiting site he’s using for measurables might not be up to speed? But yeah, let’s take it at gospel. It’s just more stupid shit that he’s doing. Speaking of stupid shit, throwing out the notion that two freshmen who are redshirting are now busts and worthy of judging the staff for is right there with basing recruiting opinions on garbage that Rivals turns out. Ignoring that one of those TEs was recruited in part to land the number one player in the country and his high school teammate is also fucking dumb. Even dumber is looking at the other guy and his ranking and judging that versus why they recruited him, which is to be a blocking TE. So, solid work on your end as well.
  19. The Texas staff has proven to be very judicious with its recruitments of TEs/H-backs. So now they’re working on one late in a cycle after a senior evaluation. But Bevo doesn’t like his size, guys. I think you should send Banks and Sarkisian a strongly worded letter warning against this effort.
  20. Well, sure. No murdering of actual life forms, but the guy has certainly killed some careers.
  21. I don’t think you quoted the right post. Mine wasn’t about Day or OSU. It was about Harbaugh’s behavior at his press conference. That said, if it was actually Day that did the hiring, I’ll laugh and be surprised. I have been assuming that Vegas hired the investigative firm.
  22. Fuck that shitbag. He acts surprised that people in the press are doing their jobs for once and actually asking him uncomfortable questions. I hope they do not relent on his ass. Just pepper him in the post game PC after the Purdue blowout with one question after another on this shit.
  23. Excluding corona 2020, ATM is 4-14 on the road under Fisher. To your point, 0-8 for their last 8. They have wins against the mighty 2018 SCarCocks, 7-6; 2019 Ole Miss, 4-8; 2021 Colorado, 4-8; and 2021 Missouri, 6-7. Wow. I don't think this Ole Miss team is the same collapsing pile of shit that as last year. They have an excellent offense. They've beaten other quality opponents already. Tulane is good. Georgia Tech is figuring some things out and might be a bowl team. LSU is pretty good. They've handled the bad teams pretty well too. They throttled Vandy and Mercer. Auburn scored a meaningless TD with under a minute to play in a game that Ole Miss had put away. Arkansas is the one outlier, sure. They played Bama tough. They're relatively injury-free and Judkins has started to come on. You're overrating ATM's front 7 at this point. They have injuries, little LB depth, and the scheme blows. You, me, and another random from this board could go out there against SCar and throw their OL around, so there's nothing to read from that performance. I'm guessing Ole Miss rolls those dipshits by 2 TDs.
  24. It's weird, I've already got plans to take your wife out to a nice seafood dinner that same evening, and then never call her again.
  25. Ha. Good luck. Betting on ATM on the road under Jimbo Fisher is certainly a choice.
