Appreciate it, I really do. I worry every single fucking day. When I’m out on a walk with my dog through neighborhoods, the thought often creeps in that what if ICE jumps out of that van up ahead and decides to take me? I wonder if I should carry my passport with me whenever I go anywhere. I NEVER thought I would EVER have to concern myself with (yes, I know I ended with a preposition). But here we are. And it really pisses me off. And saddens me. I used to be patriotic as fuck growing up. My dad was an Air Force Colonel so I lived on numerous bases and participated in a lot of pomp and circumstance. I lived and breathed patriotism.
That patriotism is on life support and it’s truly sad. Anyway, I told my husband it’s time to implement a two year plan to get to Denver. We figure we need that time to get my parents agreeing to the idea and putting everything in motion. Of course that could change depending on, well, everything. We may just scoot all the way to Washington or even Canada if we have to and are able. Texas losing two successful healthcare workers and Exes. I’m sure we aren’t the only story like that. Brain drain is gonna be a thing sooner than later
