  1. Yeah, but could see why it was made. Looked suspect in real-time.
  2. You sure you aren't confusing it with the WSM or All things brisket threads? Can't find any threads specifically titled about smoking various meats, but those threads might touch on smoking different meats. So I got a WSM... All Things Brisket

  4. It's not like Texas is two deep with 5 stars. Seriously, nowhere even close to that. And frankly, depth across the board is not injury proof either. Losing some starters results in a significant performance drop. The secondary is probably the most glaring example. Derek Williams being out due to targeting for the 1st half is less than ideal. I'm expecting the Husky defense to be a little better than season stats suggest because of having your safeties and DT back along with the addition of Zach Durfee, who is something of a wildcard given no season tape. So interested to see how the OL handles the Husky DL. Texas does have two very good OTs, but Trice is a Junior, 1st round talent going up against same in Banks (sophomore).
  5. Bobby Burton stated Collins isn't coming back on On Texas Football a few days ago in response to a question. Be interesting to see if Collins changes his mind, but Bobby seemed adamant that Collins was ready to move on. Seems like Sweat should be a case study for what's possible if he really puts his nose to the grindstone though.
  6. I particularly liked the "how can we lose to a fat NT" and "we're going to run straight over him" comments. No shortage of chuckle fodder there. I do wonder how our OL will handle their DL playmakers. Supposedly their best DT (Tuli Letuligasenoa) was injured and now available, and they have the unknown Zack Durfee and Bralen Trice, who is legit. I did look over some dated footage of Zack Durfee and he looked good against the competition he played in it. So I expect our OT's will have their hands full.
  7. I hope you are correct about that. It's not like other conference officials don't ignore some stuff, for whatever reasons.
  8. Have not been there myself, but 1701 Barbecue in Beaumont gets high marks in the Texas BBQ thread. Location/Map: 1701 Calder Ave., Beaumont, TX 77701, 409-554-8009 HOURS: TUESDAY - SATURDAY: 11AM - 2PM (OR SELLOUT)
  9. I think Sark and Co have enough cred to trust their judgement in these matters. Coach and culture might be the difference for some of those on the fringe of bust.
  10. only when our corches decide it's the perfect time to call that play though, not a time before or time after.
  11. That's a very hirsute point shaggy members are likely to settle upon with enthusiasm and vigor.
  12. Your rapier wit is impressive to say the least, and of course you have no fucks to give. And yet here you are ... methinks thou dost protest too much.
  13. Crawford's interception is his only bright flash at Safety that I'm aware of. Otherwise, it's been one big cringefest. So much potential if his bulb would come on and stay on. Taafe and Thompson do make plays though. You know they're both going to get burned and cost us, but they also get entries on the positive side of the ledger.
  14. With Derek out for the first half, who de we expect? Taafe and J. Thompson? I've sometimes wondered if Guilbeau shouldn't get a look at Safety since Jahdae starts at nickel. Even if he just subs in for periods, he could still spell Barron when needed. Honestly, I don't sweat Catalon gone. Aside from injuries, I don't think he was a plus against the pass. Playing downhill run support was his main thing.
  15. I'll see what I can dial up, buddy. I see what you did there. Incidentally, who cares if rotary phones aren't a thing anymore. Old sayings are that because they stand the test of time. Now, as it regards "locked in". I think the main point was that Washington is battle tested and plays to the whistle, having found a way to win all season. Kinda sounds like Texas too.
  16. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that personnel was the primary issue. We had Diamante Tucker-Dorsey and Morice Blackwell substituting in for Overshown. Broughton was a jag last season and was useless vs the run (typically put on skates when run blocked). Likewise, Collins only flashed and mainly in the pass rush. Gbenda also played LB and he was terrible up until this season. He never knew were to be. He has also improved, but still not great. Burke was light in the ass at Edge and we still had Ovie Ogoufo. Broughton still isn't all worldly, but he has improved. Collins is much better this season. Basically, our front 7 is a substantially better group this season through development mainly and some new personnel, and we have better depth. 17. Washington scouted and schemed us very well last season. So I'll be surprised if they don't try to get the ball out more quickly in this game. Not sure about their OL and how well they will handle our front 7. And after scouting us, their coach might not be sure about that either. I would think they are certainly better than most, if not all of what we've faced so far. It will also be interesting to see how much the refs "let them play" as it regards holding and PI. I'm going to assume they will score often enough that our offense can't afford to come up empty for for several consecutive possessions though. Penix is a sixth year QB and has multiple weapons just like we do. And I hope we get the "in his zone" version of Ewers to start the game and not that guy who's a little off until he manages to get back in it again. A month off to this game. Can't wait for Texas Homer to get his preview out. Probably be a while since he is typically thorough.
