  1. RE Wingo. If he lands at Mizzou soon then we should have a solid chance to flip him later in the year. They start out with FCS, MTSU, K State, Memphis and Vandy. They should be 4-1 at that point but will face LSU, Kentucky, USC jr, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas. That finish is 4-3 at best with 0-7 as the downside depending on how those teams shake out. If we win 10+ and Mizzou is any where near 5-7 I dont see a way they hold on to Wingo. In both of his full recruiting classes Sark has flipped an elite talent that was lost before the season (Banks/Hill) while adding some surprises late (Worthy/Brooks). Who is the best candidates for the 5 star flips this year? Wingo or Hudson would be the 2 best guesses if they commit soon to schools that have a real chance of being 7-5 or worse.
  2. Not many people hate Texas like Thamel does.
  3. They care about football now that they see the value Oregon/Washington just added by investing in it. 10 solid seasons and they would be a good Big 10 add if they add to go to 24
  4. The Ags are convinced that all of their locker room issues are fixed the day their two best receivers got into a fight.
  5. The Arch news is great but should not be a surprise. He should get blowout reps by the end of the year provided Quinn and the 1st team do what they should do. Any notion that Murphy was going to start next year was just wishcasting.
  6. Should be a big visit weekend with a big win vs Bama the week before
  7. And to expand on schools for non football front the Big10 cares only for football. The only value their 4 adds bring in non football is UCLA basketball which has finally turned the corner it seems. Of the Big 3 sports no P5 has won less NCs than the Big 10s 3. They add like a F500 company would add purely for profit with little care for the non revenue departments/sports.
  8. UVA averaged 600k viewers from 15-19 and 600k and 240k the last two years. They are a net negative to the Big10. Miami averaged 1.5 million from 15-19 but dropped to just over 1 million and 600k the last two years. In '21 they got 5.67 million for the Bama game and would averaged 615k the rest of the year. They don't have their own stadium continue to let their biggest donors embarrass the University. UNC averaged 750k from 15-19 and just over 1 million and 849k (with a Heisman level QB no less) the last two years. They vaguely reach the Washington level of viewership but who would be their Texas/USC/Oregon to help bring them along? Duke averaged 400k from 15-19 and 64k and 115k the last two years. Georgia Tech and Syracuse would be a better add than this. When ND gets squeezed by expanding conference slates they will have their choice of partners and Miami is 3rd in the state for brand/viewers etc.
  9. If you are inundated with aggies raving and reminiscing about Manziel this week kindly remind them that Kellen Mond was their greatest QB. He is the all time leader in TDs, yards, and major bowl wins. He's also the first QB in aggy history to finish in the top 4* since John Kimbrough led the ags to the 1939 championship.
  10. The Big10 has never taken a non AAU school in their history. The B2 in the latest round of expansion has taken pairs with at least 1 of them being in the top 15 of viewership with Washington being the lowest 2nd fiddle at ~35. ND is the only one that fits both of those and imo they are far off from joining the Big10. UVA, UNC and Miami don't add full share value unless ND drags one of them with. FSU and Clemson probably don't get SEC anytime soon with their antics so the ACC will be stable for a few more years.
  11. LSU baseball just became the first college sports team to literally purchase a national championship. Any LSU fan/reporter/administrator bitching about NIL is a hypocrite of the highest order.
  12. I was at the Miami game in CS last year and he was there with some other current NFL guys. The applause for Mike Evans was 2-3x what it was for Johnny. Those fans don't give a rip about Manziel anymore.
  13. Action Network and Brett McMurphy have started a wordle style game with cfb head coaches and their favorite music artists. Day 1 includes the AAC and our favorite FAU head coach. 14. To each their own but the big 10 feels too corporate for college sports. None of their adds felt organic and are forced. The new travel schedule will kill their non revenue sports and further crater an abysmal baseball league. We've upgraded in all sports but basketball. We're right where we belong as an athletic blue blood.
  15. The portal made its debut in 2018. Dont think that is a coincidence.
  16. Stanford was already dying in football and the portal killed it. Maybe they can go indy and use their mid tier athletic brand to get enough solid games to get a decent Apple offer
  17. NIL and Portal will be a net benefit for the sport long term because it helps keep blue bloods relevant year in and out. Due to the variance in this sport there will be the occasional David v Goliath moments that we all crave and remember forever. It will only truly kill 4 schools on the west coast where there was already 1 mass exodus that took a lot of college sports watching eyeballs with it anyhow.
  18. The ACC will be fine. If they lose anybody it will be FSU and Clemson or UNC. They will back fill with some ~50 ranked brands and continue on. There is no room in the SEC/Big10/Big12 for more than 2 schools to fit into those conferences. A P4 model fits the current trajectory of the college sports landscape better than 5 does hence the PAC murder.
  19. The Rose wanted to get a permanent QF or SF to stay on NYD but the committee didnt budge. Seems like they will rotate with preference given to traditional tie ins dependent on who advances.
  20. They will be at least a QF site like the other NY6 bowls.
  21. Since there are 12 teams with the top 4 getting a bye there will be 4 home games for higher seeds then into the big bowls. The NY6 + a new bowl getting upgraded makes the most sense so we don't have Northwestern playing Oregon State in a Rose Bowl that has no meaning.
  22. Rose Bowl affiliations are going away when they get a guaranteed playoff rotation in a couple years
