  1. Since we are on a bye this week i am in search of a historic Texas game to watch. Recently I watched the documentaries on the 1960s teams and I have watched just about every game since 2005 so anything from 1970-2005 that was memorable/historic would be greatly appreciated.
  2. 100% guaranteed and no offset clause. Also $0 buyout if he ever wanted to leave town.
  3. I found a few incentive laden contracts but in Elkos case he would need to make the playoffs and a semi final every year to make the same money as Deion Sanders does for going 4-8. Those deals break down quickly when another school offers $100 million guaranteed. I will add to the Elko contract that only 75% is of the contract is guaranteed. Penn State could/should put pressure on them with that lopsided deal favoring the school.
  4. And it has cost them their best baseball coach ever and a basketball coach to Maryland. We will see about that. They were so proud of their incentive laden contract and would not be shocked to see them balk at paying $12 million to Elko and $7.5 to Jimbo Sumerall is an Alabama native and did well at Troy. Or they can talk themselves in to Jimbo, who could be looking at a $15 million per year all in salary with the aggy buyout still on the books.
  5. Coaching contracts and their role in coaching the carousel this season. Signed- Curt Cignetti signed an eight-year, $93 million extension last month. $15 million if he were to leave Matt Rhule signed extension through 2032 with an AAV of $11.7 million. $15 million if he were to leave Yet to sign- Lane Kiffin- Currently at $9 million with a revolving 6 year deal that ranks 10th in the country and 5th in the SEC. With LSU and Florida interested an extension should be announce before the end of the year in the $11-13 million range. $3 million buyout if he left. Currently connected with every job open. Eliah Drinkwitz- Just signed an extension through 2029 at $9 million. $5 million buyout if he left. With a strong finish him and his agent will be winners of the Kiffin runner up sweepstakes. Josh Huepel- Signed the same extension as Drink. If he leaves before Dec 15th the buyout is $8 million and $6 million after. LSU and Tennessee boards believe he is in play. Jedd Fish- Signed a 7 year deal worth $7.75 million in 2024. Buyout to leave before next season is $10 million. Florida Alum and known job hopper. Kenny Dillingham- Signed through 2029 at $5.8 million. Buyout to leave is $4 million after Dec 1. ASU alum but will be highly sought after with another strong finish. Jeff Brohm- Signed through 2029 at $5.9 million. $1 million dollar buyout if he were to leave. Louisville alum but has been linked to PSU. Mike Elko- Signed through 2029 at $7 million base (heavy incentives and 1 year added for playoffs). Buyout if he were to leave $5.5 or $6 million. Still linked to PSU and will have the aggie faithful begging for an extension before the end of the year. Brent Key- Signed through 2029 at $4.5 million. TBD on buyout to leave. He is a GT alum but being interviewed allegedly by PSU this week.
  6. Joey McGuire's buyout is only $10 million at Tech. Thats cheap if they dont win the Big 12 and make a deep run. Would be mutually beneficial for all involved if they could take Riley off SCs hands after the season and send McGuire to Baylor.
  7. The owner of the Bills Terry Pegula as an alum. He wrote a $100 million check to allow PSU to have hockey and even paid to keep O'Brien around. They also churn out CEOs at an impressive rate ranking as high as #2 in that regard. https://onwardstate.com/2013/01/04/the-man-who-saved-penn-state-football/
  8. K. C. Keeler has Temple at 5-3 this year after only winning 12 total games since COVID. Would love to see a big program give him a shot to right the ship for 3 years.
  9. On the Penn State side of things they are likely going to have most of their Franklin buyout eliminated from the books this year due to enough high profile jobs of his choosing. Their current AD used to be Temple and hired Rhule, Geoff Collins and Manny Diaz (for 2 weeks) which all had success there. So don't be surprised if he out manuevers Alberts and a&m.
  10. Couple of notes on Elko and A&M. Ross Bjork hired him from duke and his replacement is Trev Alberts who has lost Schloss Texas and Buzz to Maryland in his 20 months on the job. Jimbos buyout is 7.5 million per year until 2031 and based on the Rhule extension Penn State was likely in the 12 million per year range. Would the aggies be willing to commit around $20 million per year in just Head Coaching salaries? Ross Bjork in 2023 after the Jimbo firing mentioned publicly they were looking for ways to cut costs. Full interview- Cost cutting around 3 minutes
  11. LSU's history should scare them away from hiring any big name coach. Their 3 NCs have come under head coaches that at the time were not yet household names. At time of LSU hiring Saban- 43-26-1 with 1 Mac championship and no ten win seasons. Only 1 top 10 finish. Won NC at LSU Miles- 28-21 at Ok State and never finished higher than 3rd in the Big 12. Won NC at LSU Orgeron- 10-25 at Ole Miss with no ranked finishes. Won NC at LSU Kelly- 145-61 with 3 conference championships. 4 BCS/Playoff bowls and 8 top 15 finishes. Fired for being an a hole.
  12. Yeah, you look it
  13. I'm taking the SEC championship in to account in that assumption. Scar will beat somebody this year (ala Texas/Florida) and Texas/Mizzou are good enough to capitalize on mistakes.
  14. I watch most of their games that dont coincide with our times. They will drop 2 before the playoffs. They string together a few low percentage plays on offense that would kill a game if they don't connect. Also the defense is suspect enough to drop 30+ on by a competent offense
  15. The point I'm making is those guys almost came when the program was a mess. How's the job look to those level of coaches with the current system in place? This administration got Seven Win Steve to back to back semi finals. He's proved anybody worth a lick can win big here under the current rules.
  16. Bumping this thread if anybody needs a good laugh this Monday morning.
  17. I 2nd this. No coach is licking their chops to coach at this version of Florida. Results aside Herman was getting any job he wanted in 2017 and would have went to LSU if we didn't come in. Secondly no other program ever got close to hiring Saban away from Alabama except for Texas. Same with Meyer almost pulling Meyer from retirement in 21.
  18. The delusion of a Blue Blood HC knows no bounds but this was more power related than money. There are no coincidences and timing lines up perfectly after everybody and their mom called for Sark to give up play calling duties. The threat from Sark/Sexton was to let him have total control or he has gonna take his ball and go to the NFL.
  19. Regarding Sark and the NFL heres a snippet from a 2011 interview. And before we say he'd never get a job offer this year just remember Kingsbury got hired as a HC after Tech fired him 2 months prior.
  20. Not sure who called plays officially but Sark takes credit. Sark was also Assistant HC that year and a photo from the season with a call sheet.
  21. Theres two timelines at play here. 1. We lose another game and Sark goes to the NFL before early signing day after a loss. To save the roster we are forced to hire a James Franklin or other non playoff coach of similar ilk. 2. We sneak into the playoffs or CDC gets Sark to wait until playoffs start allowing the better coaches to lose out. Right now Florida is forced to hire somebody before Kiffin can make a decision.
  22. People hating the Kiffin idea is wild. Hes on pace for his 7th 10 win season. Sark needs a miracle for his 3rd 10 win season this year. Kiffin has the only two 10 win seasons in FAU history and about 40% of Ole Miss'. He's done way more with less compared to Sark.
  23. *Gameday was in Nashville today *
